I am so behind in watching flosstube. I was at StitchNorth last and this year and I have already signed up for next year. It was a lot of fun. Also, Ann at Knowledge and Needle is awesome. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Love the progress on your wips. Happy stitching!
LOVE your 'oldies' .... they are definitely goldies!! Oh, and I meant to mention that Taylors Sewing Centre in Brockville also DMC Love the Shannon Christine pattern....great job.
Thank you for doing your video - the dining room is amazing -- I love all the coffee cups behind you, what a talking point. If you ever find them missing - it is me swiping them.💗💗💗💗💗. Yes michaels still sells the stretcher bars. -- You absolutely seem to be someone who might benefit from what another stitcher does with all her SAL's - She makes a spreadsheet of 10 days so she know which ones she is stitching on. A little like a WIPGO but for your SAL's.
Loved seeing your projects and plans. It was great stitching while you shared your beautiful work. Thanks for letting us In your home. Be careful of the project bag fever. I just came back to cross stitching a year ago after more than 25 years and OMG. I resisted purchasing a lot of things until a few months ago. I now have 4 project bags and waiting to buy more! 😊
Love the stitching. When me grandmother passed away I inherited all of her cross stitch stash. I have many Paula Vaughn patterns. I have stitched a few of the monthly quilts. January, April, July, October, and November. I am working on September now. I like to always have one of my grandmothers patterns as a wip. See ya soon.
Loved your video! I’m a Brenda Gervais fan too! The sampler stitchers say that when doing 1 over 1 on higher counts (36 and higher) do a tent stitch. That is a half cross stitch and do it in the direction of your top cross of a full stitch. I have stitched a Paula Vaughn chart but it’s not framed yet. Happy stitching!
I am enjoying your videos. I am also re-discovering X-stitching, gave away all my supplies years ago. I also don't want too many things started like my quilting hobby. It can get overwhelming. In reference to stitching with darker fabric, having a light on the floor or below your stitching can help. Keep your videos coming & thanks for the links in Canada 🇨🇦
Oh my Alana, Paula Vaughan?? I still have all her charts, some of which are partially stitched from the 80's!! Yours are absolutely gorgeous!! Sad I missed the Open House at Knowledge and Needles. Hope you had a great time. If you are in Durham Region, there is another home based x-stitch place in Whitby... Kimat designs. They are wonderful. Really enjoyed your video!!
Hello Shahena!! I love my Paula Vaughn pieces! I have heard of Kimat Designs. They have a travelling trailer now. I think they are coming my way in the fall. I’m hoping to meet them!
Just found your channel the other day and loving your videos. I would love to try having a go at making a flosstube but I don’t stitch often enough and on different patterns to probably make it worthwhile. I had never seen the Month2Month patterns before until your WIP parade and I now need them in my life!! 😂 I know what you mean about the majority of July seasonal patterns being very patriotic. But I’ve looked at the Month2Month July and it looks as if it’s possible to make it less patriotic looking. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the new needlework shop and can’t wait to see what you treated yourself too in your next video.
I have a large part of the Paula vaughn with the huge tree and house you showed, yours all look fabulous. Got into stitching samplers and havent worked on it for ages, and dislike all the quarter stitches, but they are so beautiful.
I’m so happy to find your channel - I mainly quilt but just started to cross stitch again - I just bought the threads today for little house neighbourhood and I also have a few Paula Vaughan leaflets which I hope to stitch one day
Another fun watch Alana - you are doing so well :) It is so much fun to watch a flosstuber talk about places I know - I was born and raised in Belleville :) I will definitely also visit the shop in Brighton - enjoy the Open House
Great video, you are exactly what I’ve been missing. Local, starting back stitching after a long time away. Monogamous stitcher with a desire to have other projects on the go. I really just discovered flosstube in January of this year, I stitched way back in the 1990’s to early 2000 and destashed all my old patterns too. I also love your choices of patterns too.
Love the variety of stitching you do. I have completed 3 Paula Vaughan designs. She had 12 designs in a calendar. A group of stitchers in my city each did one design. Another stitcher put all if them in a quilt, and the quilt was auctioned as a benefit for our school. I did September ( I taught at the school) and ended up finishing Feb. and June, as those stitchers had worked on their pieces, but we're not going to meet the deadline. Can't remember what it sold for - it was beautiful!!
I like the #3 in the Nurge hoops. I have large hands, so it's easier for me to hold. The #2 I use for smaller projects. I hardly ever use my smallest one. Everyone is different with what they like!
Hi Alana! I have enjoyed your floss tubes very much. I like the large Nurge hoop for a Dimensions Gold kit that I am finishing for a friend since I can fit nearly 1/2 of the stitching area in it and can color complete the bottom 1/3 of the project in it. Otherwise I use both the Susan Bates hoops with the lip and scroll rods although I need to buy some clips to keep the tension tighter on the sides. Your Paula Vaughn stitches are gorgeous. I see you are a big Rae Dunn fan. You and Sambrie Stitches should bond over that. She is a huge Rae Dun fan as well. My mom has been a sewist for 60 or so years, and she often presses my cross stitch pieces, and she swears by Best Press. I live in Texas since December 2020. Moved here after my divorce since my daughter lives down here with her husband and they were expecting my first and probably only grandson, who is named after my dad, who died at the young age of 58 from multiple myeloma. I keep my grandson overnight 2 nights a week and we have weekly family dinners, so I get to spend so much time with him and Walter is the light of my life. I had only ever lived in Michigan my entire life and Texas is about as polar opposite in everything as Michigan. I miss Michigan sometimes, although not the cold for months and months. I have been stitching for about 55 years, starting when I was about 9 or 10 with embroidery and stamped pieces. Once I found counted though, I really don't enjoy the other forms as well. I also crochet occasionally but am hoping to get back into it more now that I have found some hooks for arthritic hands. Hope you have a wonderful week and happy stitching.
I've just recently found your channel and have been watching your first few videos. I don't usually comment until I've caught up, but I related to a lot you said in this one. I also loved Paula Vaughn in the 90s and have a bunch of her charts still in my stash, including the Quilts for All Seasons. The glasses comment made me laugh, I have exactly the same eyesight, I either stitch looking over/under my glasses, or I take them off. I really need bifocals, but I'm not willing to admit I'm that old.
You are my kind of stitcher. Really enjoy watching. I don’t have an LNS so Hobby Lobby is my go to, and then I order my patterns. (Faith’s crafty ideas)
I use a Scroll frame that has the Velcro attached. I sew fabric to the linen so the glue does not get on the linen. The sides and rails are interchangeable.
I'm a monogamous stitcher, because I love to have the projects finished, and displayed. Then, I start the next one. A few times I heard you say that you hated to put something down. Why didn't you just continue to stitch on it, so that you could finish it, and see it displayed? If you're enjoying it, I'd encourage you to continue on with it. :) I bought the Best Press also, and it works wonders! I'm so glad that I heard about that. The first challenge in Summer Camp, is a bird, so your raven will work! Another one is something that grows, so the pumpkin would work for that. So, that pattern could work for 2 of the challenges. I think the 3rd is to try something new? I'm not sure about that one.
I have really enjoyed your videos. When you mentioned your Paula Vaughan book I stopped the video and went running for my just decluttered old cross stitch tub! Thank goodness I’d not donated those books . I actually have two of hers, Grandmothers House and At Home With Paula Vaughan. There are several patterns that I plan to cross stitch some day.
Hi fellow Ontarian! I also gave my cross stitch to Goodwill. It was my first one that my sister-in-law taught me on but it was way too advanced for me. I had the scroll, and I made a bag to fit the whole thing. ..( Sewing is my jam). It was too overwhelming so I stashed it away for years. Then my taste changed and I gave up on it and didnt stitch again until last year when my daughter asked me to do one for my granddaughters room. Now I’m hooked and I’m inspired by videos like yours. The closest shop to me is in London, besides Michael’s. Your u.s. p.o box is genius. I’m ready for my next stitch but I’m not sure what. What did you first stitch on and where did you get it?. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great Victoria Day weekend!! Hugs from New Hamburg (near Kitchener), Lola🤗
Hope you bifocals work well for you. I changed to bifocals and having more trouble seeing. I am not tech sauvvy either. Such great projects. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day and happy stitching. Lucinda
Love your channel, and your stitching is adorable love the Sampler of the season progress, am a HUGE Brenda Gervais fan! Btw we are sort of neighbors I am across the bridge in Buffalo NY :) happy stitching
Great video, I love all your projects. I just want to give you a heads up. Best Press is like a starch l would be concerned about bugs eating your project. You should check the ingredients that are in the Best Press before you use it. It is not ment to be left on the material. Quilters use it but we wash our quilts.
Hey Alana, I 'm so glad you got your packages! Your projects are looking gorgeous! I had to order the Sampler The Seasons from Brenda Gervais they are so cute! This Happy Morning by PS is also beautiful! I have the kit for it but not sure when I'll start it. I stitch Halloween in June with the #stitchhalloweeninjune , you should stitch your crow then! He is so cool! Hey and I have bifocals, but they aren't strong enough for my 36 count linen, so my eye doctor also prescribed stronger readers for me and they are a game changer for me! I never could be stitching above 32 count without them.:) Maybe you could work on A Forest Grew like every other day for like an hour? That we you'd get some progress, but be able to stitch other things as well. Happy Stitching!
Hi Carolee! I am going to have to look into that! I did t know there was a Halloween in June stitch! That’s a great idea. I am so excited to get him started!
I just watched Colorado Cross Stitchers new video last night, and she does talk about summer camp. June is something with a bird, July was something that grows, and August is something new to you. At least I think that's right. Have you looked into Jacob Palooza retreat in October? We are turning it into a family vacation. If you have any tips for things we should make sure to see or do let me know. Take care.
As another not-USAian, I get the vibe of feeling inspired to stitch something patriotic but stumbling on the Not my flag issue. Same with such samplers or month samplers. I guess I will at some point do one of the pride/flag patterns instead. X)
Ok. I’m old and deaf and can’t understand the name of the hoops you are showing. Please tell me the name and size you said you enjoy using.Thank you dear.
Hi, I love your beautiful stitching, I wished a video a d the person showed a shop that charts beautiful lady faces in a large full coverage. I wish I hX written down the name of the artist. She was in Canada. Do you know of any designers like that?
I love Paul’s Vaughn patterns. I just happened to find your floss tube last night and subscribed to it. I enjoyed it immensely.
Thank you so much!!
Enjoyed your FlossTube (and your Rae Dunn collection - wow!). Thanks so much for mentioning Cross Stitch Camp! - Sheri
Hi Sheri! Thank you so much for watching! I look forward to Cross Stitch Camp every year!!
I too love Paula Vaughn's patterns. I have 5 of them hanging in my guest bedroom!

Oh man, you're stitches are just beautiful! I love the framed pieces you have. #goals! And I've added the Samplers of the Season to my TBS list!
Thank you! I’m so glad you are going to stitch the sampler of the season too!! I love them!

Thank you for sharing your Paula Vaughn stitching so very beautiful. Great haul and progress on your stitching.

Hello! When I first got back into stitching I started the Modern Folk Embroidery Fruits of Plenty! It was a huge piece to start with but I love it!
Hope you bifocals work well for you. I changed to bifocals and having more trouble seeing. I am not tech sauvvy either. Such great projects. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day and happy stitching. Lucinda

Nice to meet you almost neighbour! This is my first Brenda Gervais. And now I want to stitch them all!
I just tried recording my first flosstube but I don't know how to edit it haha
Good luck with all your patterns! I can't wait to see your progress!
I feel your pain! I watched a lot of tutorials on TH-cam and I still am struggling a bit!

The book you are looking for is The Romance of Paula Vaughan.
Thank you so much!!!

Hi! I did just watch her video! Now I’m all set for Cross stitch camp! I am not able to make it to the Jacob retreat in October unfortunately 😢
When searching for the book google search by the projects you made. That may be faster.
I meant by the image of the project
Thank you! I will try yhat
As another not-USAian, I get the vibe of feeling inspired to stitch something patriotic but stumbling on the Not my flag issue. Same with such samplers or month samplers. I guess I will at some point do one of the pride/flag patterns instead. X)
I completely understand! One day I will try to chart my own flag 🇨🇦
🦋🌻🌻🦋
Some stitchers take their cross stitches with them and ask the doctor to put the strength in the bifocal part
That’s a great idea!!
i feel like there is not enought canadian stich :( so i feel you so many pretty patern but with the wrong flag
I understand! I am
Going to try to alter a few to see if I can make a Canadian flag in them. Shannon Christine Designs has a few Canadian ones!
Ok. I’m old and deaf and can’t understand the name of the hoops you are showing. Please tell me the name and size you said you enjoy using.Thank you dear.
Hello! They are the Nurge hoops. They sell them on Amazon or 123 Stitch. They are numbered 1-4. My favourite number is the #2
Hi, I love your beautiful stitching, I wished a video a d the person showed a shop that charts beautiful lady faces in a large full coverage. I wish I hX written down the name of the artist. She was in Canada. Do you know of any designers like that?
Thank you so much! The only designer that I can think of that does large lady pieces is Nora Corbett. But I don’t know if she is Canadian or not
Just get progressives and put them on and don’t take them off. If you work on a computer you might need a second pair.
Thank you! I will try that
Por favor, hable más despacio, es muy difícil para mi entender los que dice.
