I grew up in the time of the E12 and E21. The era of BMW glamour, never repeated. I feel blessed to have sat in those wide cord seats, hands on that dished wheel, looking at that low, smooth dash with its big, clear instruments and chunky pull out buttons. The deep curved screen with its long, flat wipers, flowing to that wide, low curved bonnet of the E12 are unforgettable. Thankyou Mr Paul Bracq. A genius.
This is a fascinating, comprehensive, and detailed insight into early BMW design. Well done, sir. I'm looking forward to your future videos. Thank you!
I owned a E12, Alpina B7S from 1982, one of 60 ever produced. Sold it in 2010 for good money, today it would sell for a lot more. But hey, that’s life and i‘m happy to have owned and driven that car for around 12 years. It was ridiculously fast on straights and would turn heads all the time😊
the golden years? you mean the GOLDEN RATIO (pun fully intended if I can make it work). every single time I see a BMW, it conforms (some series and models perfectly so) to the golden ratio of 1 to .618. the body is proportioned as the golden rectangle that is just so beautiful and pleasing to look at...today's models though with that hideous grille and disproportionate ratios on the body make it not to be so...
Very good video, almost like a documentary. Lots of facts, very interesting! Towards the end you go a bit too fast over the models. Please work on articulation and pronunciation, most of the it's several words just mumbled. This way I believe you'll have far bigger reach. Continue the good work!
That's great to hear. I'm in the middle of putting together a gigantic video at the moment, but the sequel to this should be the one after that. Thanks for your support. Stay tuned!
I actually liked the f series of bmw the best, e series coming in at a close second. The only g series BMWs I like are the 7 series g11 facelift and the 3 series g30/80 (NOT M3). Plus I suppose the z4 is alright.
E30, E32, E34, E38, E39 and E46 are the only classic models in my opinion. My old E34 535i Sport felt absolutely bullet proof in terms of build quality, they don't over engineer their cars anymore, Mercedes used to be the same.
the tail of the E46 sedan (3 series) is so beautiful how it flares up just a little in a sharp angle...the tail lights were so gorgeous too...today's tail end is 100% forgettable generic euro sedan stuff
@@richardprice7763 E28 is a bit too soft just like all the other older ones but I like the design. Hopefully my E39 528i will run forever, I cant think of anything that could replace it. Maybe a G20 or G30 but thats a 5-10 year window (Im quite a bit afraid of service costs on them)
Do you have something in your mouth when you were narrating the video? Sounds like you are mumbling a lot of words. Or maybe English is not your first language? Next time focus on pronounciation without bunching words together.
@@Barchetta Consider hiring a speech therapist. You have great info on the history of car design, but your valuable insight is wasted if people cannot understand what you are saying because you can't speak clearly.
@@Barchetta When you're speaking your mouth is very closed, making the vowels sound muddled. I'd try opening up your mouth/lips to where you think you're going too far, and that'll probably be perfect.

The boxy shape design of BMWs were the best

BMW E30 FOREVER!!! thanks for the video!
Your series deserve millions of views. Mega work! 👏👏👏

The last of the Paul Bracque BMWs! I had 3 E-12s and loved them, but never anything so amazing as an Alpina
I enjoyed this very much, Thank you from an E28 owner!

TRUTH!!! The E30 M3 Is Still The "Future"..
No its not it doesn't have blue tooth or a touch screen!
Appreciate all the time you took to put it all together! Great job, mane. New sub from an E32 owner 😉
Thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
I just bought an E30! It's in amazing condition and the body is so iconic and beautiful
Ercole Spada styled the 7 series E32 with Klaus Luthe yet is rarely mentioned. He’s the genius that styled the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato

Articulation and pronunciation! I was going to ask if he had a side job as a mumble rapper.
Love the E32, had one for a few months with more than 300.000km on its odometer :D
that's only 150,000 miles. at that point a BMW is only getting broken in.
@@andrewgarcia3136 It's actually 186411 miles
Im 22min in. Cant wait to hear your thoughts about Bangle

Great video! Thanks for preparing
The e 32 is immaculate.
A really great history run down. However. Going to have to re watch with video slowed down and subtitles to be able to interpret your mumbling.
Great video
First generation car fo landlord.
Second generation car for business man.
Third generation car for all family man's.
I always wondered if the BMW Z-4,Z-5 are based on the BMW507.
Claus Luthe the biggest desinger in the whole world!!!
the older versions of bmw are way better than the current designs
you know your s**** Very well done!
Make a video on e30 316i m40 engines
and in Part 2, we are going to see how the shitstorm started in BMW design :(

it's pronounced like "stew-de-baker" not "stud-e-baker." nonetheless great video, thanks for the work dude
Pronounciation was the biggest problem of this video... every time he said "Munich" the way he did, I felt like I got a stroke :D

E28, E24... actually thinking about it you missed quite a few classic models :D
@Mišo ElEven you're right I missed the E24. The E28 was never a favourite of mine to be honest...

U can't put the e46 there without the e36
It´s Hofmeister Knick, pronounced K-nick, not Kink ^^
can you do a video on audi's design: the golden years?
ever since kia poached audi designers, kia's been looking more premium, and audi more cheap.
Is this true? I also feel like audi has lost their brand the last 15 or so years
We are E38✅
dude,I don t understand what you are saying,Slow down for god s sake.
Modern BMWs are SHIZER.
Nowadays BMW looks like it can't decide if it's a he/she/they....
I love the design of the F30/80, i think they are peak BMW design.
Many errors here. Distracting lisp.
Although this video's subject and content is highly interesting and informative, but the bad vocal/accent of the speaker makes it unwatchable!!!
why almost all images and video are mirrored?
😀

Yeah it's definitely something i struggle with at times. It's one of those things i have to power through and learn from. I appreciate your feedback!
