Who remembers Windows XP Paolo asks? Me! Because I still use it on a few computers, including my main music computer. I use another computer with a new OS too and plan on linking them with VST System Link if possible, using an audio interface on each one.
Win XP! 👍 2023: it's still working perfectly on my Audio PC with the E-MU 1212m DSP Soundcard (Pro! look for the Converters = ProTools HD 192 I/O of that time, really a pleasure) , EmulatorX2 (E-MU Ultra in HighEnd Sound on the 1212m with ... Win XP ! ), and so on. Like to see that XP is not totally forgotten. BTW: looking forward to your next Synthwalk. Protect yourself from the mosquitos and enjoy🙂
USB floppy drives don't provide the low level disk access that a tool like MDisk needs. You have to have a "proper" floppy controller built into your motherboard, hence the use of an old computer.
I have a copy of Windows XP on an old pc just for old music software! It is never connected to the internet! I use many older software programs such as MIDI OX for sysex dumps from my Casio VZ-1 and Yamaha TQ-5.
I seem to remember your a Fortinet security engineer by day ? Best keep quiet your running XP 😋. I still run a VM for such activities but of course pass through audio ain't so good so I generally just use it for control software these days rather than for example my old Cubase versions for full on production.

Paul you are a life saver! Do you know if it will work with a laptop and a USB floppy drive or does it have to be built in?
Has to be built in.

Thank you for the archival knowledge. Can this software be used with ASR-10 Disks?
Can MDisk extract samples from a disk image stored on the PC rather than directly from a Mirage floppy?
Do you ever colab with anyone?

Lol. We had a weird synchronization moment I think. I just posted a video on this topic for the D-50 😅😂
