      It can work with him finding a way to gain immortality. But I think it's a more powerful story and shows more growth of character and a better character arc with him accepting his own death as the price he pays for a better world.

      He is alive.
      Many people are conceited and selfish to understand the series or read between the lines. It is why it is still open ended and create a dynamic between who can see the truth and perpetuate in the illusion.
      People who see Leloich's death is reflective of the population in the anime, where most belieced he is dead, and only the few with high insight or keen observation will realize he is alive to execute the most elaborate stage for the world to see.
      Punishment of immortality is much more dire compare to simple death of a body, and most dead Lelouch believers will often think death was a tragic way to go for a story because of their materialistic mindset. They will never understsnd what it is like to have total power, control, and riches like the 1% of the world nor they never know the lifestyle of an aristocrat because of their lowly status in the world. Living for eternity is ultimately more tormenting whih was why CC wanted to die unless you have love by your side.

    • @Elly3981
      @Elly3981 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@reincarnatedleaf1926 I believe he is too. Plus it makes no logical sense for Lelouch to engage in a glorified suicide, such a thing goes against his character. He's not Eren Jaeger. Lelouch would know better than anyone that the results of his Zero Requiem plan would last a decade at best before people started looking for other excuses to fight again. That's just human nature. So for Lelouch, dying for real or dying for good would have produced no lasting results. He's much more useful to the world alive than dead.

    Man the ost with the scenes brought me back the series so vividly especially the scene from the last ep when C2 was praying at the church to think that she's still immortal and right when she started to feeling some genuine happiness again, it gets stripped away from her and she has to spend possibly another lifetime of emptiness and sorrow, now I miss the series :'(
    What I don't understand from this is if the revamp makes it more clear that Lelouch dies (the nature of the other changes not being mentioned here), how does that better prepare for his possible return when at least the original was left open to interpretation?

    • @Elly3981
      @Elly3981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Writers sometimes make a mess of their own stories. The writers of Code Geass could have made a sequel to fit the timeline of the TV series but if they said Lelouch was dead and CC was cool with it, they would have to create a new timeline to continue the series. If I was the author and not sure if I want to make a sequel to my story, I would keep the ending open-ended.

    On the original series, I'm one of those people who believed that he died but wasn't dead. It's sad to hear that they are just going to do a movie rather than a season. At the upcoming movie I just wanna see C.C. and Lelouch together and I wanna see all those damned faces of the people who knew Lelouch is Zero and they all just "NANI?" when they see Lelouch. ALL HAIL CODE GEASS! ALL HAIL LELOUCH.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "I'm one of those people who believed that he died but wasn't dead".
      That doen't fit at all with what the show creators have told us. It also violates the lore of the anime. The anime is very cleear that it is impossible for Lelouch to have a code.
      I'll give some examples which make it clear that Lelouch's death wasn't temporary, exchanging "death" for "death for 5 minutes" makes no sense at all.
      “The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed.”
      and NOT “The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed for 5 minutes.”
      "For those two who bear the heavy sin known as killing their fathers, they share the belief that they can forgive each other by imposing the greatest punishments on themselves. Death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death."
      - "Before I started writing the story of a person called Lelouch, I confirmed with Taniguchi-director something. That thing was that the end of Lelouch will be DEATH."
      - "At least he is aware of his sins and pays for them with his DEATH. This is mine and Taniguchi-director' sense of ethics in our works."
      - "This man called Lelouch will pay for his sins by his DEATH. The story follows him till he finally make this decision."
      - "Probably this Lelouch we see in the first episode of the series wouldn't choose DEATH. He would try something to avoid it. He couldn't DIE, for Nunnally as well. But we see him changed in the last episode."

  • @CER0311
    @CER0311 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Lelouch didn’t die at the end of Code Geass because let’s not forget about the flashback before Lelouch’s childhood friend kills where in the flashback Lelouch tell that he will be giving a gift called Geass to the world to insure the future that he’s creating will be safe. And let’s not forget that his sister touched his hand and saw his memories of the past few moments of time before his death.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You need to rewatch the show because you have completely forgotten everything.
      He never ghave a geass to Suzaku, he was referring to his earlier statement that a wish is like a geass because it forces people to fulfill it. And thus he gave Suzaku humanity's wish/"geass" of a better world.
      Nunally never saw any visions, she saw nothing. Those images were for the audience only. this is obvious because Nunnally already realizes everything BEFORE the images appear. You can even hear her gasp before the images appear!
      Lelouch is dead for real.
      The show staff officially confirmed that.
      The anime made it even literally impossible for Lelouch to have a code because that would have violated the established lore

  • @a.noneofyourbusiness7844
    @a.noneofyourbusiness7844 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Could C2 not have known that having both Code and Geass at the same time was possible? What if she was unaware of the exact nature of the contracts? Weare told that Code is given to a Geass user if the owner of the Code is killed by said Geass user; however, we don't know if the contract allows one to steal another Code user's Code (a user who did not for the contract with the Geass user).

    • @IsilionNELE

      The reason they made it an AU is because they didn't want to touch the original series. R1 and R2 will forever remain untouched.
      Lelouch is also canonically dead in R2, but people can have their headcanons of course.
      And yes, these movies were made for money, but so id everything. If R1 had been a failure, R2 would have been canceled. As long as the story is good, it'll be ok.

      Not true at all.

      They didn't decide to make a movie until a decade later, and the movie universe (4 movies in total now) doesn't even have that epilogue because they changed that so that C.C. is alone and riding a donkey

    I am one of the people who wanted Lelouch to be alive at the end of the series. The decision to just set it in an alternate universe doesn't please me. Because, it means the Lelouch that I followed for two seasons and have loved for years is still dead, while Ohgi, Villeta, Tamaki, Chiba, and a lot of other people who didn't deserve the happy endings they got, are still alive. I was hoping in the third season Lelouch would come back, get to call everyone that betrayed him on their actions, reunite with Nunnally, and end up with Kallen, C.C., or both if they're willing. Yeah I like that that can still happen in the alternate universe, but I'd have preferred it to happen in the main universe.

Which makes total sense because the sequel is called Lelouch of the Resurrection.

      The movie is a continuation of the movies.
      R2 will never get a continuation, that was the whole point of making the movies an alternate universe. To them that's a finished product they don't want to touch. In R2 Lelouch is 100% dead and that's the end of the story. In the movies Lelouch is 100% dead but in the sequel, "Lelouch of the Resurrection", he will be resurrected from the grave.

  • @elelyon4570
    @elelyon4570 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Charles died once too before he revealed the code, so I'm not sure that Lelouch dying is relevant. The fact is that the Code would *resurrect* him from a state of death, and that his right hand was coated in blood by his own choice; the Geass Charles had before Lelouch stated, "Begone" and had Charles obliterated was on his right hand. I'm absolutely certain that somewhere in production ambiguity became part of the plan, otherwise those cues would serve absolutely no purpose.
    That having been said, I'm glad their new direction is an alternative universe, yeah. I just wish creators of art wouldn't produce ambiguous pieces then just absolutely refuse to let them remain ambiguous.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Charles didn't die! When you look at that scene you'll notice there was not nerves realignment scene and Charles had no red rings around his eyes which always happens when Lelouch geasses someone. That means Charles was already immune to geass and immortal. That completely obliterates the fan idea that you need to activate the code first. SInce Charles was already immune to geass he already had an active code, which means codes are never not active which means codes don't need to be activated.
      This was later explicitly confirmed by the creators in a live commentary. Here's the report of that:
      パパんにギアス掛けるシーンも、「これギアス掛かってないのに死んだふりするんだよ」「息子を驚かせようと」「ルルーシュくんかわいそう」「これ一番ショックなタイミング計ってるよね」「絶対笑いこらえてるよ」って色々言われてて笑った。
      Translation: About that scene Lelouch geass his dad I laughed because
      they said like "He isn't geassed, just pretends he dies!" " He tries to
      surprise his son!" "Poor Lelouch" "He tries to choose the most shocking
      timing, doesn't he" "I'm sure he tries hard not to laugh"
      コウジロウさん「この人、ギアスかかってない じゃないですか。よく我慢してますよね。こことか 絶対笑い堪えてますよ」
      Translation: "He isn't under an influence form Geass, is he? He's good
      with pretending, sure. I'm sure he tries his hardest not to laugh right
      now."
      So you see Charles NEVER died, he was faking it to toy with his son.
      Also, Lelouch didn't kill Charles when Charles got erased, it was "God" who did that. All Lelouch did was REQUEST (not even geass) "God" to not stop the forward march of time, it was "god" who decided to answer by erasing Charles. Charles was already dissolving long before Lelouch says "begone", it had nothing to do with that.

    • @elelyon4570
      @elelyon4570 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Intentional ambiguity that was later obliterated by creators because they can't handle differing viewpoints. Literally what I was talking about with my final paragraph, with wishing they would just shut the fuck up and let people appreciate their story rather than feeling the need to write ambiguity into it, then tell people, "NO U WONG! HE NO DIE , HE PRETENDIN!" I also like how a lot of what you quoted was in the form of questions. It really sounds professional and absolute, just like that one guy who shared his OPINION about whether or not Lelouch should be dead on the record.
      I could go into a million good reasons to not give Charles the not-actually-visible geass eye outline during that scene, starting with suspense, continuing with Lelouch not even knowing if he managed to reach his optical nerves with it, etc. It's like they're *trying* to break everything that made Code Geass enjoyable to talk about or rewatch.
      No, wait, in fact, they are. They are doing that, not just trying, to sell a Code Geass AU.
      Sure, it was God who did that when Lelouch used his Geass on God, and then informed Charles that it was, "Reality's Response," "So BEGONE NOW!" and Charles is erased on the, "NOW!" Telling me that was entirely for, um, effect, and and/or it's 'confirmed' that God wasn't influenced by Lelouch at all, and that Codes can't be transferred even if you kill someone with GOD'S POWER while they are in physical contact with you, is, well, antithetical to what the show states.
      What do you think the purpose was to taking out his contact before angling his head up to speak at God? Why do you think he gained the Geass in his right eye afterwards? He *absolutely* Geassed God, and instead of demanding shit from him, he asked, just like with ~50% of the people he used Geass on. "Could you do me a favor?" "I could use..." Etc. Lelouch always worded his commands like that until the end.
      "That completely obliterates the fan idea that you need to activate the code first"
      So you choose to completely ignore C2 explaining how she got her code, and that she obviously died before it activated? Fair enough, but that's retarded!

    Thanks nice explanation but after hearing that the code is supposed to be transferred upon its possessor's death to the killer, Lelouch should have obtained it from his father ya? but then you have the author say he's ded so I'm assuming it's kind of a plot hole/miscalculation from his part i.e he wanted the mc to die from the start but he didn't consider the code part getting in the way so he just ignored it.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "the code is supposed to be transferred upon its possessor's death to the killer"
      This is a very big mistake made by the English speaking fandom. The death of the former bearer has nothing to do wity code transfer. Even the anime says so. Charles got his code even though he never killed V.V. V.V. just succumbed to his injuries from battle because after losing the code he was a normal mortal again. People who were pushing the code theory narrative in the ENglish speaking fandom always tried to keep those facts from the anime under the rug.
      The anime itself says that it's impossible for Lelouch to have the cde.
      If you're interested, read this post which has all the info compiled: www.reddit.com/user/GeassedbyLelouch/comments/8hklfr/evaluating_code_theory_main_body_index/

      Ty for the link I'll read the post but if you already have answers to these questions I'd appreciate it :)

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The anime established the rule that you lose the geass when you get the code. This has applied to EVERYONE who ever has gotten the code: the nun, C.C., V.V., Charles. Charles even explicitly confirms this rule by saying "I have ganed a new power IN PLACE OF geass". And yet, Lelouch uses his geass long after his final confrontation with Charles, that means he cannot have a code. The idea that Lelouch is an exception to this rule is never brought up in the anime. Even the possibility that exceptions can exist is never suggested in any way in the anime, and there are no precedents. If it had been possible, they would have shown us, but they didn't. That means the idea that Lelouch has both a code and a geass is nothing more than fanfic which has nothing to do with the real anime's lore. Code activation is also not something which exists in the anime, I'll explain that below.
      As for code transfers, we don't know a lot of things of how it works, but we do know somethings. We know that the death of the former bearer has nothing to do with the transfer because V.V. was still alive after Charles already got the code. V.V. was badly wounded and talking to C.C. while Charles already had the code and confronting Lelouch. We know that Charles already had the code because of Lelouch's failed geass on him. Yes, failed. When Lelouch tries to geass him, there's no nerves realigning scene and no red rings around Charles' eyes which ALWAYS happens when someone is geassed. That means Charles was already immune to geass and thus already had the code and already was immortal. Charles didn't die, he was faking it. This was even explicitly officially confirmed. (I'll paste that official statement below.) If Charles was already immune, he already had an active code, which means that codes are never not active which means codes do not require activation. As I said above, since code activation is not something that exists, Lelouch using his geass proves that it's impossible for him to have the code.
      The show staff officially confirmed during a live commentary that Charles never was geassed and never died, he was faking it to toy with his son. Here's the reports on that:
      パパんにギアス掛けるシーンも、「これギアス掛かってないのに死んだふりするんだよ」「息子を驚かせようと」「ルルーシュくんかわいそう」「これ一番ショックなタイミング計ってるよね」「絶対笑いこらえてるよ」って色々言われてて笑った。

      JK Rowling never revealed any detailed of her unreleased to the directos and staff when making Harry Potter movies except for a specific cast member. This type of practice can be seen through many projects and productions where the author would generally never reveal secret details for it to not risk being leaked, except to trusted team.

      He's dead in all the different timelines/universes.
      The difference is that he'll stay dead in the original story because that story has ended.
      He will be resurrected in the new universe from the movies. The sequel's name is "Lelouch of the Resurrection" after all. That was announced 2 years ago.

      I see. Yes that is correct.
      He died in the movies too, the 3rd movie was released in Japan and made that clear. Since the sequel is called Resurrection, we kinda know how Lelouch will come back :p

    Cc is 100% in love with lelouch. This needs no interpretation.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. Code Geass does *NOT* have an open ending. The show staff said people were free to interpret Lelouch's death as happy or sad, but not that people were fre to interpret his death itself. His death is set in stone because the anime makes it impossible for Lelouch to have the code as that would have violated the rules the anime itself established.

      @@IsilionNELE even if lelouch has code or not there are rules that are violated in logic... so they can interpret it as they want. The ending scene is open to millions of interpretations

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What logical rules are being violated? The anime istelf didn't violate anything.
      Code Geass is a fictional world with established rules of what is possible and what isn't. Lelouch having a code would breach those rules, therefore he doesn't have the code.
      While the ending is open to an infinite interpretations, canonically there is only one: Lelouch is dead and doesn't have the code. For example, people are free to see the anime as a fever dream of a dying Lelouch who got shot in the head in the very first episode, but that is not canon. There is only one canon, all the rest are headcanons which may or may not completely violate everything the anime tells us.

      The movies show us that Lelouch's fate is the same as in R2.

      IsilionNELE yes, but alot was changed and the movies are a different universe with a different ending to lelouchs life

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen the movies, I know what was changed. You can't just wave things away with "a lot was changed". Everything concerning Lelouch's fate and his death and the Zero Requiem was identical.
      Lelouch is obviously dead in both R2 and in the movies. R2 has ended forever and he will stay dead forever, but in the movies he will be brought back from the grave, hence the name "Resurrection"

    @Anime Balls Deep Great video but I have not understood one thing. The director said the ending was open to interpretation but at the same time the writer said leluch was dead. Could you explain me what happend ?

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The director never said the ending was open, that's just a myth.
      For 10 years the director has either confirmed Lelouch was dead or simply refused to answer the question (can't blame him, always the same question from people who didn't understand his work)
      Then the movie was about to be released and for the first time in a decade he said "you decide" because he wasn't allowed to spoil the plot of the movie during the movie promotion. Then the movie showed us he was dead for real and that it was C.C. who literally resurrected his dead corpse. And after that the director rescinded his "you decide" comment by explaining that when they made the anime they never even considered the option of keeping Lelouch alive.

  • @qizeaqfile
    @qizeaqfile 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't care the Creator wanted to make Lelouch is dead or not the direction of the original anime make it ambiguously he alive or not. I believe with my own interpretation if he alive or not. Until they make an official season 3 that continue the original tv series that said Lelouch is officially dead then I don't care what they want or said outside the anime. Alternate stories is not cannon to the original tv series.

    • @IsilionNELE
      @IsilionNELE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not just the creators' words, the anime itself makes it impossible for Lelouch to have a code. The anime made it very clear that everyone who gets a code loses the geass, and Lelouch used his geass until the very end.
