The project looks good but I think you could make a couple improvements to it that would make it really durable. I would start by enclosing the turbine and wiring give them a dry place to operate. Also the bearings that you welded to the frame could become an issue if you ever have to replace the bearings. I don't think you could replace the bearings without cutting them out of the frame. The project is still an excellent demonstration of what is possible!

Cool! But I had an idea that the screws would be better made of metal. Being heavier, they will act as flywheels, which will give a smoother rotation when the water flow in the canal changes. And it will give more inertia to the whole system. Or you can fill the auger axles with inert material, sand or gravel. That will also increase inertia.

I have no better words to say this: In a worm drive, when torque is applied to the worm, which is essentially a screw, the worm wheel rotates, but the torque applied to the worm wheel does not rotate the worm. Ironically, the Archimedean screw can rotate in both directions due to the flow of water. Interesting...

Which is not much but for 1 h3 lightbulb that is 55W at 12v it should do the job and it's lot of light. So if you think boiling water or curling wood it's no no but some simple. Ligting especially with led's. Should be perfect.
