Guyana desperately needs a dept of SANITATION with a govt funded FULL TIME staff for ALL the cities and towns in the country! It's impossible to keep a country clean with janky contractors using day labourers!
Wow, thank you for addressing this issue. I always wonder every time I visit and so disgusted with the garbage situation especially in the gutters. The people also need to be educated about taking care of their environment. I watch them just throw their trash in the streets😩I was so proud of a barber shop owner in Albertown telling a young man to pick up the trash he just dropped infront of his store👏
The vendors invasion also contributed to the garbage build up. Durban park could be a place for road side vendors or a theme park for families or flea market. Communities are also responsible for their environment
Most Guyanese have a short memory span. The current D’Urban stadium was a temporary renovation to host independence celebrations because the opposition anticipated a massive turnout and needed the accommodations that the national park could not provide. However, there was a plan to build the infrastructure that you mentioned but because of the no confidence vote it was shelved. There is nothing in the country that the opposition did, or Burnham did that the PPP government continues. Every industry or project is abandoned. For example, the 5Bs program, glass factory, refrigeration factory, aluminum factory, cotton factory, the FCH program, the auto manufacturing industry, the radio and electronics assembly plants, just to name a few. The opposition while in government was engaged in correcting all the wrongs of the PPP. They spent most of the time right siding the country, hence the reason you will hear many say today that APNU did nothing for them. The PPP in an election year again is spending on a large scale and when they are out the opposition will again have to correct the mistakes and right side the country. No one is paying attention to what this evil government is doing but continue to blame the opposition.
Were you living under a rock because after LFS Burnham nationalized the Bauxite Company and Sugar Estate, Guyana started to catch hell. We had to line up to buy food and everything. Guyana because the poorest country in this hemisphere, after Haiti. All of this happened under the PNCR.
@ idiot! The colonizers who owned the industries at time were victimizing BURNHAM and the country because he put the industries back into the hands of the country to end the ruthless exploitation. Grow some sense. The people in China have been lining up for years until the colonial masters caved in. We could have done the same, but fools like you who don’t understand global politics are still living under a boulder with your heads in the mud.
So, if the government is not paying taxes to the city council, who is stopping congress place owned by the PNC from not paying taxes that is owned over 4 billion dollars to the city. You are a racist one sided slanted dog whistler spreading a lot of false news.
The British designated it a Garden city. We wanted independance and what did we do? Made it into a dump city thanks to you know who that was in charge. Certainly, get rid of those concerned and begin, for integrity's sake, make it looking nice!!
Hello Raphael! Did you watch the budget calamity by the senior minister responsible for finance in the office of the president and did you watch the response from former minister of finance? It says a lot about Guyana’s despair. I must say that I did not watch the entire speech because it was nonsensical.
I have been saying this on your channel from the inception when you first started this TH-cam video journey on Guyana about ten years ago of how stink and dirty the city was and still is. So I am happy that you are finally addressing this problem. Which we all know is political in nature but the irony of it is that ppp supporters would bury their heads in the sand critique the mayor and city council when they truly know that it's the ppp government that is starving Georgetown of much needed funds. I hope we can get our act together and restore this once beautiful capital city of ours. Let's put politics aside. ❤
You are another gullible ppp supporter. 😢 Georgetown needs 5 to 10 billion dollars each year to properly function. The city only receives around 2 billion yearly. You go figure.
Guyanese being Guyanese like no respect at all for the place you live and plus more people are coming into the country so what do you think they will think when they see this place
