Isn’t our God so, so, so AMAZING 😉 Who but the Lord Jesus Christ would have been willing to die a tortuous death on the cross, which is in itself a curse, and do it for me and you! Mere human beings who, by our fallen nature are fickle, selfish and full of sin! Thank You my precious Lord God for looking down on me and considering me worth dying for!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Isaiah 9:2-7 is usually read in churches on Christmas Eve. We all stumble into the pews on this night usually tired, weary, and burned out from the hustle and bustle and commercialism of the Christmas Season, which begins in earnest after Thanksgiving. On this night, the 4 candles on the Advent Wreath are extinguished and the middle candle, also known as The Christ Candle, is lit, finally bringing light into the dark world that people have been living in.
El Shaddai, I vote for more souls to bring in in the Kingdom of God and multiply the nations according to isaiah 9:1-7, 2 corinthians 6:14-18 binding oppression to end in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ, while binding myself not to be unequally yoked with and have any common share with those who are oppressed or oppress others! In the name and by the blood of Jesus Christ at the foot of the cross, amen and hallelujah! Thank you God. Annelies.
Jesus was the only one who could fullfull that. Thats why he was our representative on the cross. But we strive to be as much like him as we can so we can bring honor and glory to him through our faithfulnees in Jesus.

Nathan! Still praying for ya, buddy. The Day Jesus was Born Became Christmas, no matter what date or season. What is certain is that the day He chose was perfect as He is Perfect. @@PortCanon I appreciate your prayers if it's a sincere one. And I agree he is perfect. And the day he chose was not December 25 😂. And it was not a question but a fact.
Long comment incoming, sorry. But historical/tradition questions are always long. No one in church history has taught that Jesus was born December 25, we celebrate his birth on December 25 because of an old superstition that great men died on the day they were conceived. Add nine months from the day we think he died and you get two options (depending on the year he died), December 25 and January 6. So the feast of the Nativity was put on the 25th and the feast of Epiphany was put on January 6. The superstition died (so I guess not "no one" had taught this, but the superstition died really soon, so very few historically speaking), but it made sense from a liturgical (worship/remembrance) calendar standpoint, as it made a nice calendar to celebrate Christ's coming (and coming again) in Advent, his birth and childhood Christmas to Epiphany, his life and teaching from Epiphany to Lent, his suffering and death from Lent to Easter, his resurrection from Easter to Pentecost, and his Spirit's presence in the church the rest of the year. Now, we've kind of left the whole church calendar behind in most traditions, but Nativity and Easter were such big deals that they made their way into general culture/low church life, so we keep celebrating them. It has nothing to do with pagan traditions.
Yes! Jesus is Here! He Brought GODS LAWS and HIS Spirit and Righteousness To Help You! He ask you to Seek HIM And You ignore what He Said! And come here to listen to a clown. Kathleen, your trolling of each and every Piper message fulfills this verse: Galatians 4.29 "But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now." You might want to read the book of Galatians and find out that the message is to avoid people who press the LAW.
+Dan Ball.. That is a statement by Paul the Pharisee. It counts for nothing! Piper teaches you Paul. That is why You Know Nothing of Jesus!
