Casio CT-380 home keyboard ...haunted?

- Well, possibly haunted but more likely just a product of their time. This is the beginning of digital and few of the sounds resemble their real-life counterparts. But there is a strange, hollow kind of soul there...
Pretty much all of those patches sound dope. You could genuinely use those sounds in a variety of songs. Imagine how good they'd be with effects.
Just picked one of these up in a rural Alaska thrift store for $5. Clean as a whistle and in fully working condition. Used to pick up every old keyboard I’d find in thrift stores but see them so much less frequently these days, so this was a great score. Thanks for the great review and introduction to this model!
Thanks for sharing! That’s cool
This is IT!!! I've been looking for this for so long! Had one in the late 80s/early 90s and could never remember the name. This is the sound of my childhood! Thanks so much for uploading!
Ah nice comment, thanks likewise!
I enjoyed it. Nice find here. This one sounds like good old classics. Sounds like these sounds were used in many video game music I assume. I enjoyed it 😁😁
Glad you enjoyed it! And yep there's a strong video game vibe, definitely
I love that piano sample
This keyboard is it sensitive? I'm googling to know but i didn't found anything
@@HugoCorreaa no
Found one on hard rubbish. Been out in the rain a few days. Must be bullet proof. Works a treat! Gave it to my neighbor! He loves it.
Almost all keyboards are insanely tough, I've found.
This was my first keyboard. It actually got me started in music and I still work in the music industry today. I wrote songs for my first band and they played us on the local radio in Sacramento and named us best band on KWOD 106 back in 1991
Wow that's cool man! ...ahem, and if you could mention Gearfacts here and there...

I found one of these at a goodwill a few years ago. Its VERY dirty but works like a charm. Love the sounds it makes, it deserves to be cleaned some day
2:13 A short delay can act like a reverb or chorus. It may also be an envelope trick
the waveforms are probably split in the middle and reversed+inverted in the second half assuming this is wavetable, it halves the amount of storage needed per cycle but introduces some odd harmonics
Interesting!
Back in the day when these were the schizz and i was single I used to have little jam sessions at my pad.
One day a friend of a friend shows up with this mid size 4 or 5 octave keyboard.
Had 4 drawbars like a hammond with 4 sounds. That was it pretty much. Each drawbar had a distinct sound that you could mix with the others.
Piano, Harpsichord, Violin and Cello were the voices. The dude left this keyboard at my place for about half a year.
I really enjoyed messing with this but one day he shows up at the house and takes it back...bummer :(
I have no clue who made that keyboard but would love to get my hands on one again.
For a 1989 home keyboard, it actually has pretty good bit resolution. I was surprised to see a 16 bit data bus when I circuit bent mine 🥴
16bit?? No way! cool
@@gearfacts Yep 🙂. I have the service manual somewhere.
@@twiff3rino28 wow crazy :)
@@twiff3rino28 Yooo, you wouldn’t mind sharing, would you? 👉🏻👈🏻 been looking for a service manual for ages
These older ones are getting harder to find . I have the 360 like I said before but I want to add the 370 or 380 with better piano sounds .
Yeah I bought it from an old lady across town. She cleaned it up lovingly, it was obviously a thing of pride for her :)
it sound so dope
This is was my first (digital) keyboard in the 80’s as a kid. Now all of my gear is analog. I think their may be a link there! Thanks for the run through, I remember all the details of this and how to play it. It sounded just a cheesy in the 80’s 😀

@@HugoCorreaa hi, if you are referring to velocity sensitivity then this keyboard does not have that feature. Just a standard plastic keybed.
Well, not exactly a high-end keyboard, but useable
I got a ct380 from my grandpa, it's a fun keyboard to mess around on
Yeah I found it very pleasant to use :) #gearfacts
Froggywhw me to , it’s from muy grandpa
I'd like to record mine into my audio interface like you did but I'm not sure what kind of cable it requires. What did you use?
An ordinary Aux cable, 3.5mm to 3.5mm
Does this have an audio out, or just phones?
@@vintagepearlguitarsit just says "output" but it's a small stereo jack like for headphones. It works either way.
@@vintagepearlguitarsthe manual says "Output jack [output impedance 50ohm, output voltage 1.1V (RMS) MAX]"
I saw one at an antique store back in 2017 and I made a Snapchat video of me playing it and since, I’ve wanted it, but I couldn’t find out what kind of keyboard piano it was and I just finally found it out!!! I want this keyboard piano so so so badly!!!
I'm glad the video solved that mystery. They're pretty old now, but they appear online for sale fairly regularly. Good luck in your search :) #gearfacts
I have one I'd be willing to sell!
Does this keyboard have a midi out
No
Is my piano haunted...
My guess is ...yes :)
I had one like that.but I got a Yamaha full size keyboard
This keyboard is it sensitive? I'm googling to know but i didn't found anything
No, velocity is fixed :(
Cool for it's age...
Found one of these and the guy is selling it for $10!
