(September 25th, 2021): well this came outta nowhere haha. some clarification though: this was done on an emulator unfortunately (still on the console, just off USBLoaderGX), but was still timed as the world record (9:47.863 with time loads similar to playing off the original disc). it's sad that it's not directly posted in front as the world record, but there is a filter that allows you to show emulators, and you can see my record at the top. a shame truly. I do wonder if I should run this game again though, teach poof a thing or two aha
Over this past month, I have been speedrunning this party game specifically in hopes to slowly climb the ladder and make a dent on the leaderboard. Low and behold, I managed to make a massive dent, as this run appeared out of nowhere. Nothing but blessed to now hold the current world record on this. Huge shoutout to MorphicYoshi, for holding the previous world record on Board Game Island with a 10:16 run.

What is Wii Party Board Game Island? Wii Party Board Game Island is primarily similar to a traditional board game. In each round, the players all play a 4-player minigame which determines the order in which they will go (If there is a tie, a die roll decides the order.) The players who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd get a bonus die. The player who places 1st gets a gold die which consists of all the numbers from 1-6, 2nd place gets a sliver die which consists of the numbers one to three, 3rd place receives a bronze die which consists of the numbers one and two, and last place gets only the standard die. Once a player rolls the die, they will move the exact number of spaces. The board game contains 73 spaces. If the player gets doubles (Meaning the die and bonus die are the same number, such as two 6s), the player gets to roll another die. The highest number that can be rolled is 18. (6 from regular die, 6 from the 1st place bonus die & 6 from die if you get doubles). If you manage to get to the top, there will be a dragon structure and in order to beat it, you have to roll at least a six to win the game.

Double 6 = 1/36
5 or 6 = 1/3
3+ = 2/3
5+ = 1/3
Multiplying everything together = 1/486
For the last move he had to move 8 spaces with gold die and hit a 6
Move 8+ = about 0.45
Hit the 6 = 1/6
Adding those up about 1/14
The mid-high dice rolls in the first 2 rounds = 1/12
Hitting the 4+ = 1/2
Hitting the blue statue = 1/8
So the start adds up to 1/192
Overall: 1 / 1.306.368
That is not taking into consideration the RNG for the quick and easy games which I'd take a wild guess for a 1/10, adding up to a 1 in 10M.
The odds of hitting a straight flush is 1 in 72000. Imagine hitting a straight flush 140 times in a row.
According to Wikipedia, Wii Party has sold 9.35M copies. Assuming every copy has been played by everyone exactly 10 times, only 9 people managed to have such luck.
Now let's say 1 in 9 people is a speedrunner. You are that person. Congrats.

including the rest of the luck in this game (2nd challenge, blue temple, high rolls, final challenge, no unlucky spots) makes it a *very* lucky run.

The amount of luck from 7:08 to the end is crazy
From timestamp:
1/36 for double 6
1/6 for the additional 5
2/3 past the skull trap (3+ required, basically don't get 1 or 2)
1/3 past the ball trap on the first try (5+ required)
Last turn:
1/36 for double 2
1/2 to reach the end (he was 4 spaces out)*
1/6 to win with just one 6
*Note: he had better chances to get 8 with a regular 2d6 roll (15/36), so he was either lucky or styling
1 in almost 420k. A run for the ages.
@@4P_sALT Some of this is bad logic though. 1/6 for the additional 5, but he also didn't get a 6, and it would also be 1/6 for an additional 1. This is only the odds of repeating what he did, not the odds of him winning that quickly.

A rough estimate (not really accounting for conditional probabilities as much, math might be incorrect) of probabilities (assuming winning every mini-game and calculating all results or better):
First roll: rolling a 7 or above, or rolling a 1 (gives +6) guarantees the rope swing: 21/36=7/12
Rope Swing: rolling a 3 (gives +6) or 5 (gives +4) results in the farthest: 2/6=1/3
Second roll: rolling a 3 (gives +4), 7, or 9 and higher: 18/36=1/2
Third roll: rolling an 8 (absolute best since it gives the blue statue boost): 5/36
Dragon roll: rolling a 4 or higher: 1/2
Avoiding the move backwards: 2/3
Fourth roll: double 6's: 1/36
"Fifth roll": rolling 5: 1/6 (rolling 6 is excluded b.c. triple 6 wouldn't give the +4 boost)
Volcano or not: rolling a 3 or higher: 4/6=2/3
Spike Ball: rolling 5 or higher: 2/6=1/3
Sixth roll: rolling 8 or higher: 15/36+1/36*5/6+1/36*1/2+1/36*1/6=99/216=11/24 (accounting for doubles)
Seventh roll: rolling 6: 1/6
Total probability: 385/1,088,391,168 or roughly 1 in every 2,826,990 games. Wow.
Yeah it is pretty crazy, I think it is still legit, feels like anyone could have easily compared his camera with the gameplay to see any anomaly, like in the reaction game, then again idk if there is people that care that know enough about the game to compare it.
Still the sus behavior is when he got double 2, he was calling out a 6, and instead of worrying about not making it to 8, so 4 or more after double 2, he is instead worrying about slight time lose with a jump, when a 1 or a 3 would be much worse for the run, so he might have called out 2 after initially saying 6 to hide that, which is pretty sus.
Another thing that could be looked at is if he also called the numbers on every roll as the breakpoint in other streams, for example at 7:22 he is calling a three, not a three or more, and it is the first time that he does it, to me if he is cheating that would indicate that he started calling out numbers from that point onwards cause he got self conscious about calling out the exact number.
It could still be legit tho, not accusing anybody
btw third roll a 8 is 4/36 cause double 4 would make him do another roll, it actually would be 4/36+ 1/36(3*1/6) so 9/72
And first three rolls you can actually just use a calculator to say likeliness to get 25 on 6 dices rolls, since the orders of these rolls arent important (for the most part), the only important thing is the golem space you end up.
Likeliness of first 3 rolls = 25 is 6.12%, the rest is correct so 257/500.000.000 roughly, which is 1 in 1.872.659, so it is a bit more likely that it seems, but still not that likely.

I cant remember what happened in the video but assuming you have 3 dice there are 216 different possibilities for how they land (6^3 = 216)
