Savage ideology. It is none of my business. Those interfering in or trying to westernize this or any culture are imposing oppression. Let nations be. Obey the universal law of non interference. You must have a stable country before you offer help to others. But most don't think before the react so irrationally. There are so many billionaires who want lift a finger to help the people of PNG. They could solve all problems by throwing money at it. They want civil unrest on earth. They are in a battle to own the world. They are succeeding. They are deprived of morality as they feel the elite are somehow exept. Morality cares not who you are.

It is not as simple only just men hit women but that is certainly the area to start with. I am not sure that even in the West she would have avoided jail although we do have cases where years of beatings, a woman snacks and sometimes tha can be provocation although normally it is supposed to be immediate provocation to provide any kind of amelioration.

That we should do but unfortunately, in PNG, you could be married off in an arranged marriage without even knowing it! Then as they are paid with the brideprice, it means that you are literally bought by your husband and he owns you! If you castrate or even beat your husband, their family, extended family and even their village folks will retaliate for their family member

Domestic violence against women is not always about upbringing & that's something I learned through first-hand experience. There are a number of factors that contribute to domestic violence & how we go about putting an end to it seems elusive to say the least. Perhaps that's in part due to the fact that domestic violence doesn't play by any rules in that it's not always related to religion, race, financial security or the lack there of, upbringing or education but more often than not ego/pride is involved. It both sickens & saddens me that it's so widely spread & seems to be on the rise in so many places including the so called 'civilized western world'. Sadly the term 'patriarchal society' has taken on a very sinister undertone.

When it comes to relationships or marriage, women and men has equal respect, love, loyalty and responsibilities. This culture is all about abusive relationships and polygamy that benefits men of their perverted desires. I'm wondering about this men what they feel when they saw their own father beating their own mother. And I'm also wondering what kind of father selling their daughters(brides price) knowing that she's going to be abuse and maltreated in the own hands of their husbands. What a shameful culture is that.

I'm from the neighboring country as PNG (Solomon Islands), if domestic abuse was going on in the home...towards our sisters, aunties, or nieces, the whole family will be hunting that male abuser. I remember as a kid, my aunt's ex-boyfriend (abuser) never set foot in the whole island or the capital, because my uncles were looking for him ....and thinking of tying him up and throwing him to the salt water crocodiles....

In recent times in my lifetime wife battering was common enough and was combatted by the husband being warned off or punished by the wifes family ( usually brothers ). Then the state got involved but this wasn't effective until judges were trained properly in family law and police and justice systems got a fair share of women working in them. It still is a problem and usually ends up badly for the woman unless timely action is taken. Some women return to a persistent wife beater against outside advice sometimes with fatal results.

The laws need to be changed where domestic violence is concerned. If it's proven that a man has been physically abusive to a woman several times, then she has every right to defend herself, even if it means him losing his life. Women should not have to serve time in jail for that.
