One of the most amazing things about BG3 launch for me was this: at realease... it was buggy... not at Cyberpunk level but there were some nasty bugs, problems and even personally at some point I lost 4 hour of gameplay because of that bug blocked Wyll story progression... and you know what? I didn't particurly cared, especially at the time. I simply replayed those missions and chose different options, or explored more and found new details I had missed, replayed the fights knowing more and finishing them in a more tactical way that felt more rewarding and before I knew it I was back at where I left. In a period where games are destroyed and memed to death on realease because they are seen as simple corporate blob to churn out, Larian coltivated so much good will and trepidation that no one cared about these problems and imperfections... and STILL they took upon themself to fixed them with free patches keeping a humble graditude for us the player. Not something you see often nowdays and something that we should always reward.
This and also the speed at which they patched those bugs. BG3 is fucking massive, so bugs were to be expected in such a dense game, but even though they were sometimes annoying or even progress-stopping altogether, you could be sure they’d already be getting ready to send a fix out within the week
yea especially when saved games would get erased. That nearly brought me to tears sometimes. SO many hours spent on hard battles only to have them erased. Even so, i still love it and im not even done on 1st playthrough.
I remember reporting a bug about a month after the game launched (not being able to target ranged attacks through certain doors in the Creche) and got an email response two weeks later saying they were aware of the glitch with some doors and were working on it. That's wild considering how many players the game has and how many people were reporting that they would take the time to actually respond specifically to my email (it was not a form letter, it was a personal response). Good stuff
The fact that - as you pointed out - all the other games (excluding Elden Ring, which, c'mon, it's Elden Ring) on the chart are either live service or released this year except BG3 should REALLY be hammered home. This game is standing the test of time and because of the full mod support I think it's going to become a game like Skyrim, where it's still a recognizable and fun thing to play, no matter how many years on you're playing it.
I simply can not wait to check out the new subclasses. Maybe my interrupted run of DIvinity Original Sin 2 has still too wait -- but there must be some method to bridge the time, until Larian brings out the next game ...
Look at the amazing things that can happen without rushed release schedules, shitty microtransactions and open embracing of the community. Other game devs NEED to take notes.
No actually they got rushed release schedules and annoying executives thats why they cut lots of content out and they dont wanna do a dlc. Game executives should go away if we want good shit. Despite all of that they made an amazing shit tho
@@dr_diddy what are you talking about thats like an normal triple a development time. If they gave like 1-2 years more to the main game they would also get a dlc even more than 1 dlc maybe. Imagine the money they would raking on from just one game. Making a new game is difficult af. Finding new voice actors, making assets, gameplay mechanics, lore ,background. Making dlcs on the other hand is much more easier. Thats why sims 4 has 2000 dlcs
Bg3 is so good. I bought it twice. I never buy games on multiple platforms unless they impacted me significantly. Bg3, rainworld, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Skyrim. All games that I have loved and return back to frequently. It always feels like coming home.
I really hope Baldur's Gate 3 gets a DLC-sized mod from the community! Because... 1.) I'd love to see it 2.) I'd love to maybe work on it 3.) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I'm also still seeing a bunch of youtubers/streamers uploading the first parts of their playthroughs on a daily basis (not even exaggerating). And I'm checking almost all of them out to experience the game all over again in a way.😅 Love to see it.☺
This! As soon as there's "first playthrough" or "first honour attempt" in the title and I enjoy the vibe of the person (or people) playing, I'm in! While playing my bazillionth run of BG3 at the same time. 😂
Baldurs Gate 3 is the kind of game Todd Howard dreams of in his sleep, but never will be able to make. Why? Because he does not understand his customers. Granted: He does understand how to sell heaps of cats in sacks.
Because once upon a time Bethesda used to make good games. And for the past 10 years they've been on a downward spiral of greedy mediocrity with fans screaming into todder's ear to please course correct, and he keeps acting like it's wind blowing his hair as he stands atop of Everest
@@peterdelisle7083 That's rich coming from someone who supposedly likes BG games. Every game Bethesda made past Morrowind was just the one before but worse. I'm sure in a decade when Larian rots and is as lazy as Bethesda, you'll love that nonexistent choice in next crpg of theirs.

@@MajinVibe I used a slam attack on my mud elemental to knock enemies away, and the aoe did not indicate that I was in the range..apparently I was, and it knocked me into the sea
To me, the best thing about the game is that it doesn't even need mods to stay engaging/great/addictive. I've just finished my 7th or 8th run (had to save and abort the after-party because it was 2:30 am) and I'm already thinking about what class I'll run on my next play-through. Not quite sure what it is about BG3 that makes me come back over and over, but it surely has something to do with the characters, story/writing, size/level of detail of the world and all that. Plus the way Larian have been handling it post-release is just top notch - Patch 8 being the latest proof of that with new content promised for free that any "normal" dev/publisher would charge extra for - and would have back in the days before DLC/in-game-transactions, as they would simply have put this stuff into an expansion disc or two.
If I had the money to pay the voice actors and editors, I'd see about making a post campaign mod about rebelling against Minthara's house in Menzoberranzan.
Loved every playthrough of BG3 and plan to help my wife and her friends with Tactician and / or Honour runs when the next update comes. I'm slowly building up a nice mix of mods to play co-op the friends I ran each difficulty with again, but what I'm waiting very patiently for is more races. Kua Toa is funny to play as but I'm waiting to see if anyone can manage to get kobolds to work, or import the races from other mods I've seen.
I’ve put around 200 hours as a casual gamer and I was never a dungeons and dragons or top down type of game fan. Now I want to start my own d&d group😂😂
A friend of my sister surprised her by buying the game for her as a Christmas gift. Until now she had to split screen with me on my PC, but she'll get her own PC soon! With crossplay coming soon, we can play with that friend who has the console version! And I can play a Circle of Stars druid!! My fav!
you know what one thing id like with bg3? they react to SO many small variables, and thats awesome, but for people, like me, who use the nonlethal attacks options, so often the game still treats the enemies as dead, id like more reaction to NOT killing people, especially since its harder since you cannot use ranged attacks or damaging spells.
One thing i dont like is the split party, because at first i was about to help my friend with dialogue by casting spells like guidance and others, but now you cant do that unless i have to do some convoluted bullshit to make it work again.
@@fireblade295 Doesn't she already have it since one of the patches ago? I remember her saying at the party they found someone who can fix it or someting.
I remember when the Beta came out, a lot of content creators I watched said it was a buggy mess that they didn't have a lot of fun with. Now here I am, years later, and its in my top 5 games of all time (it might crack top 3 when the new subclasses come in!). What a fantastic journey I've been in with this game.
Sadly if Veilguard team working on that, then God be with Michael Gamble he will be on crushing pressure from activists filling bioware these days. He is the last based guy in bioware that respect the old bioware legecy.
@@mahdiashk5747 Huh? Activists aren’t making the games, the studio is. And BioWare has progressively gotten worse at making games. If you think it’s activists or culture war BS that is because of the drop in quality, you’re not thinking critically or looking at the actual problems with games. And it’s not women, minorities or trans people, it’s the writers.
@@MetastaticMaladiesnot to mention the Mass Effect has a different team working on the game lol. They hired the narrative director from dues ex and the game director and lead writers have worked on ME2/3. The Director for Veilguard was from the Sims 4 studio 😭 so it explains why it wasn't very dark lol.
@@dr_diddy Not only was it not dark and far from regular DA, it was extremely sanitized and lifeless, with zero moral conundrums and you pretty much can’t even go against your team mates, they just agree with whatever you decide, which is very unlike DA. Oh, do you have an issue working with assassins for hire? Don’t! They’re the good guys, and the good guys can never be wrong! It was just so… meaningless. I just started boulders gate. Knew nothing about the game or lore, just thought the character customization was cool. But with only a week in, I am absolutely a fan. This game is so much fun. Sure I get lost all the time and spend a lot of time on Reddit trying to figure out what to do but it is hands down worth the money and time.
Not shocked at all that this game is in the Top Sellers. I'm not a huge gamer but I like RPGs. i've been playing BG3 for about a year now, and I'm bummed im nearing the end...I put so much time into these characters. I love this game so much because there's so much to do and I feel like I got my moneys' worth. I'm kicking myself for the stuff I didn't do in Act 1 and 2. I loved the first 2 BG games and i truly truly hope Larian will make BG4 (even though they say they aren't) .
I’m so damn excited for the mods. I’ve seen so many videos of cut content that I know is gonna be added to the game by the community, just like with Skyrim, lol. Hopefully they’ll add the cut content and more.
Last year I played it from release until the end of the year for 350 hours, before setting it down. I turned it back on nearly 2 months ago and have not been able to put it down, racking up 800 hours. That's like, paying 9 cents per hour of entertainment. This game is just amazing. I know they don't want expansions or DLC, but damn, I wish they'd continue to add more and more for decades. I would happily pay 100 bucks every couple years for massive content drops.
Not having a physical american release probably kept if from getting even more sales even though its extremely popular theres a ton of people who barely even heard of it. I feel like some cardboard cutouts above the psn/xb/ steam cards could even go a long way
I started to play Baldur's Gate 3 after heard it was best game for four months. I was curious and it was my first role-play game because I love to role play, but not dnd style, only with online friends for fun. Man, the game actually blown my mind because it has good stories, role-play with others characters, romances, and adventures. I'm thankful for Larian keep working on it because BG3 has potential and never rush to start DLC if they are not ready.
treating the community with respect and love brings more money, and more players, and with the official mod support will preserve the game for decades, can you imagine the potential of community making a whole new campaign like curse of sthrad or even a whole new campaign design by the community? larian deserve all the love❤
i've started over half a dozen playthroughs and only two of them have even made it to act three. I've only finished the game once, because i keep getting distracted and restarting it (i have adhd, it's a me problem). I made it to act two for the third time just before i watched this video. i'm super fucking psyched to do it again.
I've heard about KCD, but I've never gotten the chance to try it for myself. I've heard mixed views on it, but after looking at gameplay of it, it looks like it's up my alley with the 5-directional combat system and added realism from HEMA experts. But now that there's a sequel coming out soon, I think I can wait a little longer to decide to buy it or KCD2.
If you are planning a few other playthroughs during an ongoing playthrough on a 26 year old franchise's 2 year old (4 year old with Early Access) game, that has no DLC / Expansion, that game is indeed awesome. Wish they (Hasbro etc) didn't push / annoy Larian so much that we could have had our Expansions! Baldur's Gate has a history of those expansions and they were all beloved ones, can't imagine BG-2 without Throne of Bhaal for example.. and Larian was always so respectful to the customs of its predecessors. And BG-3 was so ready for it! Level cap was 12, we had a huge way up to 20. We had different rulebooks that could have been integrated Xanathar’s Guide to Everything.. Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything to the game.. We have had different Races *(Aasimar!)* and countless more subclasses, we haven't even seen 25% of them yet in BG-3.. which would have been huge additions. Ngl, I’d have gladly dropped $70 on a BG-3 expansion from *"Larian".* Honestly, the base game already felt too cheap for what it delivered. I even spent some time after release looking for merch, shirts, mugs, anything.. just to support them. And I’m normally so cheap I’d argue with myself over paying extra for cheese on a burger lol..
I knew nothing about this game. I bought it less than a week ago. It is already in my top 5 favorite games of all time. It is up there with Sid Meier's CIV games, Elden Ring and Skyrim.
I love this game and I’m glad they’re still updating it. I just wish they would add dlc. They’ve more than earned my money, I’d pay for them to add some worthwhile dlc to the game, maybe like arenas and other endless adventuring stuff, since the game does not continue once you beat the main story.
I have 121 hours... in ACT 1... AND I'M NOWHERE NEAR CLOSE TO FINISHING ACT 1. I've already planned my next character. BG3 has become such cozy comfort game for me that it's something I find myself searching videos of, specifically playthroughs, when I need something to watch or in the background.
Those are amateur numbers. I've clocked 534 hours and I've seen act 2 ONCE! Not to mention a friend of mine who has 2,400 hours who's beaten the game only once. ADHD for the distraction!
@@Stevensondominickvvy99 Well, that’s BioWare, they don’t care and haven’t for a long time. Each DA game is worse than the previous, they’ve been on a steady decline for years, it’s crazy people don’t see or notice that. And the way they treat every IP they have, shows they don’t care, it seems they’re only in it for the money and the passion is gone.
It needs to sell at least 25 million copies and I hope we see that. There is a rumor the witcher 3 sold 50 million. If true that is alot and I don't know if BG3 can reach that but I hope it does.

Good stuff
@@tstststs that's amazing. This game, their company and their service are all exceptional
Good for them. I hope they continue succeeding! 👍
@@exosproudmamabear558bro, the game was in development for 6 years, it needs to make money eventually 😭
Its a hugely rushed release, and they still havent finished everything that was supposed to be, what are you talking about
@@dr_diddy what are you talking about thats like an normal triple a development time.
It’s not the devs fault usually, it’s their corporate overlords.
Because...
1.) I'd love to see it
2.) I'd love to maybe work on it
3.) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Something like Enderal would be *insane.* But I'd be just as happy with a new companion like Inigo (both are Skyrim mods).
There are already some big mods out there. Like a whole lot of subclasses, races etc. with new skills and everything
@@justyce_yt Enderal indeed ;-) That was just one guy with talent.
there have been more than a few dlc sized mods released already.....
me too, i could not have done some of these battles without watching others do them for ideas
Baldurs Gate 3 is the kind of game Todd Howard dreams of in his sleep, but never will be able to make.
Why? Because he does not understand his customers. Granted: He does understand how to sell heaps of cats in sacks.
Idk why this has to be an "us versus them" thing. Most of us play both and that's okay. Gatekeeping is toxic and not welcome with bg3
"Us versus them" is not a thing that has to be, it is a thing that just is. Skyrim is so shallow, it's barely even an rpg and people like you are at fault for it. Hell, even as action Skyrim sucks, but please go on, keep screeching about toxicity. I'm sure in a decade when Larian rots and is as lazy as Bethesda, you'll love that nonexistent choice in next crpg of theirs.
Oh I think he does understand his customers. Or else he wouldn't know how to sell them the same product as well as he has for the last decade or so.
Morrowind was better than BG3 lol Todd already made it
I have over 2k hours and still adore it. Taken a mini break though since im on like my 30th attempt at solo honour mode and keep dying near the end of Act 2!
You can do it! I'm rooting for you!
@Rakshasa1986 haha thanks. I'm on another attempt now!
Update: died to something stupid during the halsin portal defense....
@@x_rhi_x2772that mission can get wild😭

I am late to play Baldur's Gate 3, but currently playing it, and I love it 😎
Better late than never.
You’re not late! Welcome! ❤
0:34 what is this dress/what mod is it from? It's so pretty!
Larian gave us the best gift to create DLC for ourselves i love this for BG3 and some are already being made it looks epic!
The last act feels unfinished despite being quite long, usually DND games or those bases on it have a higher level cap.
They just need to open up the game at the end for you to explore the map and fight random stuff
I really enjoyed the mod that let's you get up to level 20.
Bc it is unfinished and missing a lot
Baldurs gate was on my wishlist for so long, and when I actually got to play with. Truly an adventure I'd want to relive for the first time.
If BG3 was made by ubisoft, all the creative thinking and emergent gameplay would have been flagged as Must-Fix bug in jira
By Balduran's Ballsack, Larian! I need to take a break. BG3 is already my most played game of 2024! With 95% game time! Pleeasse no moreeee!
If I had the money to pay the voice actors and editors, I'd see about making a post campaign mod about rebelling against Minthara's house in Menzoberranzan.
I played Bg3 this year more than any other game I ever had played on my console.
Sven is a massive nerd,we need people like him
Also larian has made good games for years, decades even.
Which games would that be? Their last game had one of the most terrible combat system I've ever seen in a game.
Larian deserves every win/achievement they got and so much more honestly
I'm still waiting for that Avernus act Sven promised.
My fav!
Happy Holidays, Mr. Hulthen!
Astarion wearing a Christmas hat 😩💯❤️
I'm just glad to finally have a studio I can be proud to support!
Hell yeah!!
You? Who are you? Oh you live here!
Greetings from Larianland ;-)
you know what one thing id like with bg3? they react to SO many small variables, and thats awesome, but for people, like me, who use the nonlethal attacks options, so often the game still treats the enemies as dead, id like more reaction to NOT killing people, especially since its harder since you cannot use ranged attacks or damaging spells.
This is one of my criticisms of CP2077. There's little difference between lethal and non-lethal combat for some reason.
Bg3 always makes me say "just when I tought I was out, they pull me back in" Al Pacino from Godfather :D
Thanks for all the great content!
Merry Christmas from Canada!🇨🇦🤘🏻
One thing i dont like is the split party, because at first i was about to help my friend with dialogue by casting spells like guidance and others, but now you cant do that unless i have to do some convoluted bullshit to make it work again.
Well it flipping deserves it, darling.
Not until Karlach has her good ending.
Started a new honor mode run for the Christmas holidays. On my 2nd try because I lost my first run to murkel at the end of act 2
I am so happy about this. It gets the praise it deserves and is giving us everything we wanted.
Success story?! I still have to hover over the "don't auto synce" has is that success
this is a wonderful video. bg3 has such a wonderful community and larian's many patches and choices really makes it a standout game
Well deserved to be on the list. Merry Christmas eveyrone!!!
Merry Christmas!
Any news for the next Mass Effect game? I haven't heard anything??
Sadly if Veilguard team working on that, then God be with Michael Gamble he will be on crushing pressure from activists filling bioware these days. He is the last based guy in bioware that respect the old bioware legecy.
@@mahdiashk5747 Huh? Activists aren’t making the games, the studio is. And BioWare has progressively gotten worse at making games. If you think it’s activists or culture war BS that is because of the drop in quality, you’re not thinking critically or looking at the actual problems with games. And it’s not women, minorities or trans people, it’s the writers.
I'm much more interested in Exodus.
Sorry for the rant, I just used to love BW and their stories/characters, it’s just so blatant they don’t care anymore.
Glad for larian. They deserve success ever since DOS1
I knew they weren’t done with BG3 and I’m so happy and excited
Seeing BG3 on the switch would be a miracle but amazing to see honestly, taking this anywhere like with a switch would truly do it for me
I’m so damn excited for the mods.
I would happily pay 100 bucks every couple years for massive content drops.
let's see if Larian can back it up with their next game!
I was hoping you were going to have some idea of how soon patch 8 would be dropping.
Bg3 gets so many game changing patches and updates that it’s basically live service
Im beyond excited for larians next game because bg3 was beyond incredible
i've started over half a dozen playthroughs and only two of them have even made it to act three.
Baldur's gate 3 is what happens when you give people who care about what they're making a triple-a budget.
Merry Christmas and all the best in 2025, Mr. Hulthen!
Merry Christmas!
Act 1 has more content than some full release games.
I’ve been playing this game for just over a year now and I’ve already got 560 hours in it. Defs one of the best games I’ve ever played
Well done for BG3 and Larian
Feliz navidad señor Hulthen.

I wonder how Bioware is doing after dragon age the VEILGUARD 🤣
I like veilguard, but they could take some notes to keep trying to better the game (hint hint Bioware)
@@Celestialwitch4567 LOL
Already cheaper than BG3. I heard it's ok for a game. Maybe ME will perform better.
@@Sharp931 For a RPG game that cost estimated 200-250 million to developed for almost 10 years i expect better than "ok" game..
Bg3 is so good legitimately. Just started replaying the game a mate and multiplayer is a such a fun experience
I'm keen to get AI able to automate some aspects of modding. There's so much potential with the mod systems, but the tools need some adapting.
It needs to sell at least 25 million copies and I hope we see that. There is a rumor the witcher 3 sold 50 million. If true that is alot and I don't know if BG3 can reach that but I hope it does.
Loving the console mods, its been awesome sofar and looking forward to all things to come💯
Mods and otherwise!
A Merry Christmas to you, good Sir!! Peace
Few games are made well enough with a good enough studio to result in the vast majority of fans' largest critique of the game is the lack of paid DLC.
I just beat the game for the first time last night…and I will be doing at all again!
With the success of BG3 I'm beyond excited for what they do with the next Divinity: Original Sin.
I mean, this doesn't surprise me. I bought the game last year but have been playing it more in 2024 than I did in 2023 lol it just keeps getting better and better the longer I play!!!
I've been considering buying the game again, just to support Larian even more.
I can't wait to play BG3 for the first time but I'm going to wait until patch #8 Drops next year. Also I hope one of their next 2 games being worked on is Divinity Original Sin 3!

The main problem BG3 has is that you can only experience this amazing game for the first time, once.
I bought this game twice, knowing it is going to have cross play.
