You may need a hitch extender for the bike rack and bikes to work with your spare tire. If you plan to take your Jeep offroad with this bike rack you will want to be careful because the bikes might drag. This would depend on the height of your lift and size of your bikes. www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Bike-Racks/Yakima/Y02484.html www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Adapters/Curt/C45791.html
It will depend on what size bike you have. It will most likely fit but you just want to be sure the bike will not make contact with the ground because of how low it sits. www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Bike-Racks/Yakima/Y02484.html
We're sorry to hear that the rack isn't working with your kid's bikes. We do mention in the product description that the rack is intended for mountain bikes with suspension forks. www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Bike-Racks/Yakima/Y02484.html
I will never buy this type of rack, I can not trust the weight of the bike to a rubber band that with weather will eventually deteriorate to a braking point, plus damaging fork everytime goes on and off and or driving them around. Platform racks is the way to go for heavy bikes.
The best and most in depth review of this carrier I've seen yet, great job ! Ordered one last week, can't wait to get it in and put it to use !

I have a lifted Jeep with 35x12.5x17 tires. What are the downsides of this rack when using with the Jeep?
