Akutagawa H,S, Taiko club ”29th International Folk Meetings” in Poland Jul.26.~Aug.07.2018. ポーランド公演

芥川高校和太鼓部は新型コロナ禍が始まる前までに11か国で演奏した。その11か国目がポーランド南部のジヴィエツという町を中心に開催される International Folk Meetingsへの参加だった。Akutagawa High School taiko club had performed in 11 countries before COVID 19 disaster began. The 11th country was the International Folk Meetings, held in the town of Zywiec in southern Poland.
ここでは13か国15チームが参加して競い合う国際コンテストがあり、各国の民族舞踊が披露される中で、和太鼓や日本の踊りがどう評価されるのか不安半分、楽しみ半分という感じだった。
Fifteen teams from 13 countries competed in this international contest, and among the folk dances of each country, I was half anxious and half excited to see how the taiko and Japanese dances would be evaluated.
このポーランド遠征では、日程の中で、ジヴィエツを中心にしていくつかの町へ移動して演奏するというスタイルだったため、コンテストのリハーサルを兼ねて何回も公演することができ、部員たちはだんだんと海外公演に慣れてきていたので、コンテストでは最高に観客に喜んでもらえるパフォーマンスができたと思う。
The tour of Poland was centered around Jiwiec, and we traveled to several towns to perform, so we were able to give several performances as rehearsals for the contest. I think we were able to give the best performance at the contest that pleased the audience.
最終日の閉会式での発表で、優勝、準優勝は無理だったが、15チーム中3位相当の「特別賞」を受賞できて、部員たちは喜んでいた。
On the final day of the contest, at the closing ceremony of the festival, the members were pleased to receive a "special award," equivalent to third place out of 15 teams, even though they could not win the first or second place awards.
