It's sad that characters during the HIT Era have an introduction episode and then immediately get reduced to background cameos or not appearing ever again
It did make an appearance in the great Discovery

I never understood that because by then, Thomas was making big money for its merchandise so surely featuring the lesser known characters would be to their benefit.

One of my favorite hit era characters and seeing her brought to more justice makes this so special in my eyes, man. Thank you for doing this, not only for yourself but for the people of the Thomas community, showing us that our favorite characters may not come back on screen but they can still live in the real world and in our hearts.
Love this take on Molly! The brown and Yellow just look so right, and her being the islands main coal train puller is such a cool concept :D
Now I have to get on making her a proper coal train 😅 At LEAST James can rest easy knowing it’s not on him now haha!

In all honesty, Molly looks nice as an H1. I like the canon you have come up for her.
I always liked the idea of Molly working at a coal mine, not sure what it was but her role seemed appropriate for that.
Wasn't her class like use for war like Neville I think am not sure

Maybe she sometimes when she isn't pulling coal, she banks trains on Gordon's Hill, which kicks up a lot of soot from her funnel. I threw this out there not only because of how strong she is, but also because "Mighty Molly" sounds similar to "Big Bertha" to me.
I'm very vocal on how much I love the HiT era, but yeah lots of the new characters got done dirty. But I always loved the small sneaks of personality they had like Molly being shy, Dennis being lazy, Hector having internal fears, etc...
I also like to think that in the alternative universe , Molly came to the island looking dirty like her was in the modul, the reason why she was so anxious in the show is because she got so embarrassed that all the other engine on the railway had a better paint job that her.
Interesting take on Molly, and I’m loving the smaller face. I already said that the large face is nightmare fuel (cause it’s so big!), but the smaller face somehow reminds me of the Gunvor and Peter Edwards illustrations.
I really like this model of Molly she is one of my favorite characters since I can relate to her, it just sucks how HIT never used her again and tried to give her character development
H1 Molly is a vibe, I love it
That’s what I hate about the Hit era. Using new potential characters once but they never use em again and Molly had so much potential to be a good yellow female character like Rebecca. In fact, I could make them be friends
I love how she's turned out! Part of me wonders if you've considered what number she'd be in your AU, and/or if you've thought about numbering her? I stare at her tender and just expect to see the number appear lol, Thomas has tainted my perspective for sure

Maybe Molly works on the same line as Arthur, besides the seaside village, it has a VERY productive coal mine, one that needs a powerful engine capable of longer-distance hauling. Arthur handles the fish and passengers, Molly handles the coal and maybe the works trains. Maybe her yellow paint is to appear as a “safety” vehicle, think of wasp stripes on industrial diesels, for example. But hey, I’m just spitballing, great model gamer, I liked the addition of sound effects at the end.
Baised on the look of you're model; Molly was an old Engine used on a rural branch for Passenger service in her early years, However as time went on and as bigger faster engines were needed Molly was shifted to Coal and iron works drags. Since she already had a yellow livery the industrial works happily took her under their purview. Molly was later bought and is ran on the Isle of Sodor doing many of the things she has done over her whole career, Currently she is in need of a wash and a new coat of paint but Molly is ever more the happier.
*AU for your molly model :* when Henry was brought to sodor and the fat director saw it wasn’t what he wanted was pretty tick offed about that but he kept Henry but his thoughts on the Atlantic never left him one day he finally decided to see if he could find one for a cheap price he wandered around until he came across an scrapyard it was a engine her wheels and chassis looked rusted and paint faded she seemed downcasted the fat director than decided to purchase molly but since she was new and all the work with the town being restored ( great Watertown ) he did minor repairs to bring her back into steam as soon as possible she did odd jobs around the town like coal trains , timber , and building materials she was getting pretty dirty with suit and dust but she didn’t mind she was just glad she was in service again. after the town and line was completed and the work easier down she was reassigned to do jobs in places wherever she was needed eventually she would get properly restored into her former glory new paint in all and she works happily around sodor sometimes you maybe just get to see her sometimes pulling a heavy goods train down the line.
Within the context of a coal mine, this bright yellow livery makes a lot of sense: it's highly visible and stands out from the black coal/dust all around.

Molly is one of my favorite hit era characters and if im gonna be honest one of my favorite Thomas characters of all. It’s why i want to save her brass model prop one day
That's a nice take on Molly being an Atlantic, if I were ever into modeling trains and decided to build Molly, I would've probably made her out of a Hornby D16. My head cannon for that would be that she originally started out as a regular GER D56 before being moving to the LNER and later getting reclassified as a D15 and would later get rebuilt into a D16 (specifically a D16/3) by Sir Nigel Gresley in 1923 (that would play into her dynamic with Gordon in the fan made story "Former Express Engine").

That would be REALLY fun honestly, Neville is on my list of to-do’s I just have to figure out what I’ll do to make him more unique. That’s a pretty good way right there 🤣👀

I had the metal Molly and Murdock toys as a kid. Molly was my favorite because my favorite color was yellow but never actually saw the episodes she was in.
You know, I never actually liked Molly. Her design always felt too busy, and the fact that she was almost _less_ than a one-note character certainly didn't help matters.
That said, I _really_ like this re-imagining of her! Personally, I look at that engine and think it works in something like a steel foundry or something like that as opposed to a coal mine, but either way I _love_ the look of her! I'm genuinely thankful you didn't decide to go with all that panel lining and striping the original had; that would have severely detracted from the visual impact of the design in my eyes.

As someone who models Anthracite Roads and Camelbacks, I know the pains of not finding a specific model of locomotive you want. 3D printing is always an option, but especially for camelbacks its super hard to find a good example of a 3D Print, as the Wootten Fireboxes are very odd and not common aside from a few roads in the North East US. Sometimes it’s good to freelance a bit and make your own take on a Character or locomotive. If there’s 1 rule of Modeling, it is, “Do what *YOU* want to do.”
I like Molly so this makes me happy
Looks great, although the weathering is so severe it gives me vibes of escaping from scrap rather than just industrial work.

I always saw Molly as an LB&SCR B4 in my own head cannon, especially with her livery
I like the idea of Molly working for the coal mines since she is seen pulling trucks more then coaches. (Yes I did watch a video dedicated to every Molly appearance for no reason)
Using an Atlantic 4-4-2 tender engine as Molly's basis is a brilliant idea as that wheel configuration wasn't even used on any railway characters in the TV Series.
Molly isn't even on the rails in that cameo it took me 10 years to realize that
Ngl that part blew my mind 😭 It does beg the question though as to where the track LEADING to it is?? (I assumed it was a loop thing that brings engines up but that’s just me)
Fun fact they actually made H2’s with Belpaire Fireboxes,just like the Claude Hamilton’s which was Mollys original basises

Perhaps, instead of taking the coal trains directly from the branchline, she meets up with whoever’s working there that day? And she’s the one who delivers coal around the island, to and from station to station that needs coal, and going back after trucks have been dropped off to get to each part of the island, which takes a while, occasionally helping Henry with the freight trains.
Often times it’s Percy, since why not, he’s already known for being; “Put Upon”. Especially your, Industrial Percy.
Epic model dude! We need all these characters back. Arthur and Murdoch especially! Bachmann would make a killing if they released them as models.

Ha in your head canon the Fat Controller did finally get a Atlantic, probably just after Henry was rebuilt and he gave her that branch as she was capable after spending her last few years on LNER as a jack of all trades and just was happy to work on Sodor and not be scrapped. She may pull passengers as I imagine the mines to be a fair distance but I like her this way very much and I fully agree Hit gave us lovely models but wasted money. Murdoch had great potential and he could of inspired the need for a banker, leading the future addition of Bertha.
Call me silly but when I found out about the working girl of the lickey with ten big wheels I wanted a Sudrian example.
You know, after watching your videos on your new layout with Rico, this model could act as a spare engine for when Rico needs repairs or decides to take a nap. The model here already has that industrial look anyway

If it’s anything it wasn’t uncommon practice for ex-mainline locos to be related to goods specific work later in careers as new locos came in!

tbh, this basis works better and suited her perfectly than a D15
