That field you’re playing on, where I live (Texas) we wear turf shoes on it. Ours are right on top of concrete and it’s very hard to wear studs on it Thanks for the review
Fair enough, over here they're usually on a soft base and then the AG is laid on top of that, so the AG itself is quite deep and then under that there is also something soft before you get to the concrete.
How is it 2025 basically with Majority AG in most places and the brands won’t place innovation into AG studs and also not release them at all on a highly sought model….. wow
I do agree with you that the AG should be available on the FT model, it simply makes sense and there are a lot of people who play regularly on AG. However, I will also say that it's very region specific as to how likely you are to be playing on AG, the majority of people I know in the UK, Ireland & Denmark all still play on grass pitches most of the time.
@ fair enough. It’s frustrating in US because facilities just default to turf with little thought because it’s “cleaner, more consistent and looks better”, although I don’t agree with the latter. The model should be released in AG, that’s just insane to me.
Enjoyed your video a lot. The thing I find bizarre about Adidas is that I bought the x19.2 as they were sold as “AG/FG”. Now that same stud pattern is being marketed as FG only. Does that mean I’ve been using a dangerous boot on AG surfaces? My question for you sir is; why are they so against making an AG version with the tongue?
The main reason they will have dropped the FG/AG is simply for warranty purposes. But I also wouldn't have recommended those X19 soleplates for AG pitches. As for no AG option with the tongue, I genuinely do not know why!
I don’t have any knowledge about ag pitches. I am confused on what the difference is there between 3G,2g or 4g pitches. The ag pitch in which I play just makes my boots black (because of the rubber bits)
In short, it comes down to what year it was built and what type of turf they used. 2G is the oldest one, 3G is relatively newer one, and 4G ones are the most expensive and most recent tech. Generally speaking recent techs have more cushion and easy on the knees and joints, and 2Gs are are solid and very hard on your legs. I would recommend using TF shoes on 2G, 3-4G can use AG and some FGs with conical studs.
The 2G as stated above is the oldest option, can be sand based and usually has a very low pile height so not much cushion. Would usually be a good option for Hockey for example. Would need a TF boot for it. 3G has a much longer pile height, this will have your rubber crumb or similar as a filling and usually will be suitable for AG boots provided it's well maintained and now old and more run down. What you see me on in the video is a 3G pitch. 4G, 5G and onwards are essentially a synthetic grass and on the whole won't need the rubber crumb. The likelyhood is you're using a 3G pitch, so you just need to look at how nice that 3G pitch is to identify what kind of studs you want to use.
We have traning and home matches on a quality ag pitch but like 50% of away games it is a soft or mudy grass. Wich one should I go for? I have pred .2 mg rn and 3 age I slipped cause the pitch was mudy and I conceded cause of that (I am a gk)? Can I make the sg work with tpu cause I am a gk and I dont really have rotational movement, or do I have to go for 2 boots?

I must try this AG soleplate thx for vid mate ✌️

Any hint for an SG version of the icon 2?
Unfortunately not something I have any information on
@ Any good alternative for the morelia 2s as an SG? The neos are a bit narrow for my wide feet. And the mundial is just too bulky for me.

Based on you describing the away pitches as muddy, it sounds like you need 2 boots, an AG for home and an SG for away.
Saw someone said the AG model doesn’t come with a string bag, is that true?
My AG Laceless came with a string bag.
Ok, thanks

@aalhawk purely based on my opinion I think the new predator league is better than that regular F50 league but not as good as the F50 Messi League.
