It's genius. Farms around the world should do the same.

For crops maybe but you can't have large birds around mammals especially ducks and geese as they carry many pathogens

That's a perfect balance of Ducks protecting the grapes from destructive pest. The wine benefits and the ducks are happy!

Not only that. their manure is fertilizing the vines plus they produce a lot of eggs and plenty of meat.

Of course, all species communicate. You can learn to communicate with them as well. There is a lot of courses offered to people these days to learn inter-species communication.

Many years ago I lived near Melkbosstrand in a small community and we had a collective of plain old white ducks that used to go from house to house eating garden snails. Quite extraordinary! I'm so happy to hear that these beautiful creatures are providing their services to this vineyard. I'm currently studying animal communication and I'm developing a strong respect for the animal Kingdom as a whole. My hope is to make as may people aware as possible of the extraordinary nature of animals. I believe it is time for us to all accept that inter-species communication is possible and available to all of us. We only have to open our minds beyond our limited perspective. Thank you for your open mind and for showing your love and respect to these extraordinary animals.

We used to have Indian runner ducks in our garden against the infestation of snails. They were so cute and it worked really well, the garden was snail-free and several duck babies were given to farmers in our village, one even started to breed and rented them out to unhappy, snail-annoyed garden owners.
Our duck-happiness ended after a fox ate the original pair and several successors.

Ducks are so smart... people unfamiliar with them wouldn't have any idea how easy it is to train them.
Great to see their usefulness realized; to eradicate pests organically!
The sooner this catches on... the less toxins in our food chain.
