It looks very similar to the Arcteryx Atom LT; at a marginal of the cost. The materials are practically identical.
I’m just getting into this brand and recently bought the Woodland Anorak. Love it. I will take you advice on sizing. Luckily I will be going to Poland this summer. I will be buying this physically in store to avoid this problem.
Great review!! Thank you so much for sharing.

Snugpak Torrent Extreme I've had my one for a couple of years now it was £189s but from OUTDOORGB it is now £97s it's for keeping you warm if you run cold like I do it has two outside zip pockets two inside deep mesh pockets and one inside zip pocket thick padded sinch hood with three cushions in it 1 top and one either side that's the 2xl I use for arm length and overall comfort plus there are under each arm a zip for ventilation down open naturally up closed great for if you are hiking in the rain and run a bit warm you can let ventilation in to cool down. That is my only go to winter jacket especially if I'm going winter camping.

Yes, with the confusion of sizes things have gotten kind of wild in the last few years.
My good old SFU pants are a regular XL, but I had to take the UTP pants in a 3XL.
The MBDU Flannel Shirt is also rather tight. You should order one size larger if you want to wear a warm layer underneath, for example.

The jacket on military 1st in the UK is only £109/$131.50 free postage in the UK. The $200 is probably including taxes and postage to the US.

Yup. It is a firm in Manchester, UK so having that price is normal if you are thinking of buying it in from the UK. You are better off buying it in your own country instead of buying from outside.

I owned two of these hoodless wolfhound jackets too, one extremely slim fit and one fit looser.
My body runs cold so I feel this jacket works its best while being the middle layer or worn under the body armor with a tight fit.
Overall great jacket, I do think its jacket works well while it fits closer to your body.

    • @KR-bn4bg
      @KR-bn4bg ปีที่แล้ว

I'm looking at this jacket for under armor potentially for particularly cold days at work, so maybe to be used 3-4 times a year really. Have you had any issues with durability from the materials rubbing on the inside of your gear?

    • @c.n.n.c.studyinstitution8970
      @c.n.n.c.studyinstitution8970 ปีที่แล้ว

@@KR-bn4bg So far, No. I wear a size smaller than my usual military size so this jacket can fit nice and tight under my gear. And don't worry about size running small. this jacket is extremely roomy for some reason(for easy laying). I heard some people have issues with its sleeve being so tight and unadjustable that they can't wear it with tactical grooves, this never happen to me but do keep it in mind.
In extreme conditions like crawling in mud or walking through dense woods, you will need an out layer like a BDU type of jacket to cover it. But in a city environment or light duty mission, this jacket will be more than enough to cover it all.

I purchased quite a few Helikon items over the years and I'd say half of those had to be returned due to sizing issues. One fleece jacket I got in a medium had arms wide enough to get my legs in the sleeves! Why this company can't get it right, I don't know. It is a complete lottery when you order, probably why here in the UK, so few places stock their stuff as the returns must be a nightmare. I will only buy if free returns, as I know there's a 50% chance it won't fit. BTW, if you want an insulated jacket that is true to size, both the Snugpak Arrowhead and Spearhead are excellent. If you order a large, that's what you get. I own both of those, super warm, high quality and perfect fit. Better than the Helikon Wolfhound by some margin.

Bought the Wolfhound with no hood in taiga green last fall direct from Helikon, and it was well worth the money. Looks great, fantastic insulating layer, classy enough for date nights and does weigh next to nothing. I get comments on it all the time. I had ordered a medium and they sent me a large, but I can't complain about that as I can layer under or over it with ease, and it's long enough to keep covered my belt-mounted EDCs with both hands stretched straight up. The stuff sack it comes with is a nice touch, keeping it clean and safe from rips and tears when jamming it into a pack or tossing it in the back of the car. Highly recommend. 10/10, great video Luke. Keep it up brother. Prost, from CT.

Being British I purchase from Military 1st a few times a year. Their prices are a bit higher than other places but I don’t have to pay international postage with them. You have to remember they are importing Helikon tex products from Poland in the EU. There are some Polish based EBay sellers who I have started to use for Helikon Tex purchases but you have to weigh up the differences in the price and the postage, and then consider the likelihood and ease of having to return the product.

If mentioning price gouging we have to mention Amazon. There many items including jackets like this one are changing prices daily sometimes and with 3rd party sellers. Even Amazon themselves sell items at crazy high prices. Not everything but I'm shocked people will overspend 2x-3x the msrp. Its really noticeable on cheaper items.

In defence of Military 1st this jacket is only £109 for UK customers which is around $109 USD right now. That elevated price you’re seeing is export and import fees.
Here in the UK Military 1st are considered one of the best outdoor suppliers and they’re certainly one of the cheapest.
Pretty sure if you got in touch with them they’d be up for having a conversation with you about what causes the price fluctuation.

Hello Luke, I would like to ask you about the size. I usually wear US size S in the US military uniform, so this jacket has a hood version. I chose the European size two sizes smaller because it should be my size. You wear the European hood version. Size m, but it actually feels like xl. If I choose the European size xs, will it be my size? The hoodless version is US size s=European size m Thank you Luke for sharing. This type of product is very unpopular in Taiwan, and there are very few seniors or colleagues who can share or ask for advice. Thank you very much for sharing this type of military tactics product on TH-cam😺👍

I have this jacket, but I use it as a layer under another jacket. I rarely wear it as the outer layer as I too feel it would tear easily. What I dislike are the cuffs. I imagine if you have big hands, you will have difficulty putting this jacket on. The cuffs just dont seem to stretch enough. Also, its made in China. Still, I like it and wear it most everyday as it works as intended.

I have this jacket along with the hooded version. Both mediums. The hooded version doesn’t have adjustable waist like the non hooded version so is a little looser around the waist with just some elasticity. Really great jackets for warmth and getting caught in the rain. My only slight niggle is the zips on the pockets get caught quite often on the material and the chest pocket soon developed a hole inside the lining on the non hooded version. Anyway great jackets and yea I did purchase them from Military 1st here in the UK but at normal prices . Sorry you guys don’t get the same deal as us.

    • @kerrybay7995

In this day and age, 'tactical' means one of two things:
      A) nothing
      B) trumped-up cost of item to be sold to COD players living in mommy's basement
The overuse of 'tactical' has led to the saying 'tacticool', which I commonly equate with Fudds. No word o' lie, I wear/own a lot of 'tacticool' gear, but I also spend a lot of time in the woods and use it for its intended purpose.

The problem with these companies is that their manufacturing is made in “Cheynaaa” (China) !!! Asian sizing and material cutting floors base their sizes on the avg. Asian physique, not European and NOT USA sizing. Having been in the Surf Industry for over 30 years I’ve seen the issues with imported clothing made in China. You can get more units of clothing out of a roll of material if you drop the avg. size run down a notch or 3 !!!!! Think about that when you do your shopping next time. 🙃😉✌️

Welcome to what women go thru all the time! LOL No consistency from one brand to another and even within the same brand from style to style. I have yet to purchase any clothing items or shoe items that came from China and had it fit properly. And that's after following their so-called sizing charts to the letter. And imagine the insult when you know you wear a large, but the measurements that they provide indicate it's a 3XL for their product. This is also a bit of a problem with American sports clothing, not just from China.

Didn't write a lot in the comments but felt I have to comment on the Military1st mentions in a few videos...
Seems like others have written in the comments about this as well ;)
I purchased from Military1st in the past and they had the best price then, shipping to The Netherlands and BEFORE Brexit!
After Brexit this all changed...due to taxes and import rights...
Still love my Helikon Tex clothing, packs and pouches....so now ordering straight from Poland makes much more sense! ;)
I like your straightforward and open communication considering brands and companies,
so maybe it's fair to mention the brexit/taxes equation for all fairness in a future video...
;) like I said: still makes sense to purchase from a different site if you don't live in the UK ;)

Hi ! I've been watching your content for a while now and i dont know if you take some request from us . If yes would really appreciate your thought about the " QUAOU" Tent V2 .
    (th-cam.com/video/U4KqHb_HQ9c/w-d-xo.html)
It is very intetesting because of its polyvalence such as : the ability to transform from a tent to just a bugnet tent to a hamock or even just a beach shelter. Its very unique and might be curious to introduce.
That being said, another great video as always. Keep on doing your content which is useful even if we sometimes can't purshase some of those articles here in France .

Things that are made in China never have size consistency.

Maybe this company is getting their products from different factories that have different sizings?

I always much prefer to try on clothes in person. Does anyone reading this know where that would be possible with this jacket?

I don't know of any retail outlets, but I am 6 foot, 155 pounds, and the large fits me great. Enough room underneath for a light fleece, and fits a jacket/vest/larger hoodie over the top with ease. Long enough to cover all my belt-mounted EDCs without presenting.

An extremely expensive for this POS...! Costco has a gray jacket for $40 that blows this away.. I wear it while speed bike riding and it blocks the wind very well and it quite comfortably warm..

Military 1st has a monopoly on the camo colors on Amazon. US store doesn't stock the flectarn etc. And the overseas website doesn't work for some reason. Irritating. I've been purchasing Militar German Military Surplus equivalent. Windrunner Shirt and Parka Anarak. Helikon Tex is difficult to purchase. I did manage to get a Pilgram Anarak. It's great. I think I'll give up on Helikon Tex. They don't want my business. And Military 1st can go to hell. They must have sort of deal with Helikon Tex so that the camo colors are not available except through them.

Yeah. Military 1st is UK based, hence the price. Might get a flecktarn one as I am in the UK :)

Well, it's a bit annoying when "army-level" clothes are made of silk :D Where can you wear such clothes? When you walk in the meadow? :D Such clothes are only suitable for airsoft group photos.

Ok, this is very weird.... I have a medium with a hood and it just.... fits like a medium as it's supposed to be.
The best thing about this jacket is the breathability. It will keep you warm in windy conditions and in the cold, but it will also allow for enough ventilation through the fabric and allow you to be active without getting sweaty. I use it when riding my bicycle to work in colder temperatures and with a merino long sleeve, it's just about perfect.
