I love the park culture of San Francisco. Living in the Richmond, being 5 minutes from golden gate park is truly incredible. Then with a little drive, Dolores park, the marina, Crissy field, Alamo square. So many beautiful parks to take in and hang out at on a nice day

I discovered your channel a month ago and I value your videos so much. Native San Franciscan that left years ago and has felt like a refugee ever since. Worst thing is, it now feels like a forced exile. Have wanted to come home for years but can't afford it. I was the only person I knew that cried watching The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Like, really cried. Like this deep mourning for the City. Anyway, I'm really happy I found your channel. You're the real deal. Thank you

As a native who has been privileged enough to stay I balled my eyes out at that movie because it felt like an obituary to my city, a love letter to the city that was. This channel has helped me remember that my city was, is, and will be amazing.
You'll make it back here. It may take some time but you'll be able to come back someday

Man I feel u I will probably be leaving the city in a few years because of rent it’s insane the living spaces for young ppl and low income ppl just get smaller and smaller I know a couple families who built a “shed” in their backyard where they help room other families this is very common especially in immigrant families as they need to stay together and it’s expensive

What I love most about San Francisco is that there are so many things you can do there. You can shop, eat, drink, walk, hike, go to beach, chill at the park, hit the museums and gardens, find a good beer garden......everything so close by and accessible. Climb a different hill every day. Try a different restaurant as often as you'd like, you'll never exhaust the possibilities. Rain or shine, it is a city chock full of adventure. Oh.....and let's not forget the fog. I love the fog. It adds an air of mystery and intrigue to the city's already interesting topography. i *WILL* live there some day!

The people are certainly my favorite part too... Everyone feels like they can be who they want here, we accept all. 👍

I've lived here 10 years and it's an amazing city. No matter where you are, there is a park right around the corner. Golden Gate Park, the Presidio, Glen Park, John McLaren Park, Lands End, Lake Merced. 😍 The truth is I want to move somewhere rural and live a simpler life, but as far as cities go, you can't beat the City by the Bay. 🌁

S.I. The old one on Stanyan. The new S.I. is 5 blocks from where I lived [32nd&Rivera]: I could have walked/biked instead of needing to take 1 streetcar and 2 buses to get to 222 Stanyan St.
      .
On the other hand, that house, 2 befrooms and a hall bathroom, just like nearly every Dinset house, was assessed at $1.3 million a few years ago. That's why I live in Oakland.

Great video - like all your work: positive, clever and entertaining. I am watching from Vancouver as an occasional visitor to SF. All of the good and bad you mention applies here as well (ahem, I guess our views from mountains, not hills, are grander - but the cities are very similar). Anyway - you deserve many more subscribers and I hope this is the video that does it for you. Keep up the good work!

I’m a San Franciscan since 1953. My grandma was a native. My grandfather fell in love with my grandma and moved here in 1945 from NY, and never went back and instilled my deep, abundant love for my city. I’ve been a SF tour guide for 25 yrs now. I’ve been challenged with how to respond to the vitriol and hate hurled on her. You have done it as only a true lover could! I love you for doing it so gallantly. Thank you.

I experience SF on an e bike 4 days a week delivering food in all the interesting hoods. I’ve rediscovered the city through its restaurants, parks, views and never get bored. Yes the homelessness, drugs, vandalism, crime, noise and the politics can get in the way of the enjoyment but I deal with it.

As a native I love to hear other San Franciscans extol the grandeur of our amazing hills and views. also I was walking along Jersey street the other day and saw a historical plaque mentioning a red light district in Noe Valley in the 70s. So, Mr Yee, I moved to SF, when I was barely 18, in 1978. I was instantly infatuated by our city, while working full time, but homeless. I could tell you so many crazy, amazing stories, but here, I have to say, you are the first person, at least in a long time, that has been as enthusiastic as I have, about being in the best place on Earth. I feel like I have known you for years, even though we’ve never met. When I watch your videos, I feel so, at home with you. So glad to have met you…before the mustache, because you’re dashing both ways, but I like it!
If there’s anything I can ever do to help you, let me know. I’m in Sunset, but I’m familiar with very nearly every sq ft.

Man, thank you for making this! I was born in SF and lived/worked most of my life here. I became disenchanted with the city for a bit due, in part, to some of the stuff you addressed earlier in the video. Was also disgusted with Trump politics. I traveled around the world and now I'm back. Trying to see things with fresh eyes to some degree. These videos are such important reminders of why SF was, and will continue to be, great. You clearly have so much love and passion for SF, it makes me proud to be back home.

to survive. Not to mention his participation in the slave trade and I will not be surprised if in order for him to steal things he had to hurt a lot of people 🤔

Love it! I'm a native, and a "city mouse." I don't even want to live in a nearby suburb.
I feel so lucky that the diversity of a blend of cultures is my comfort zone. My parents always reinforced to us that we were so fortunate to live in a city where we could expand our own international experiences, and education.
A fond memory is of the year that the World Cup was held in the Bay Area, anchored at Stanford. I, too, live in the Richmond district. All over the neighborhood, there were parties with excited fans of every country, cheering loudly, and flying flags from apartment windows. It was like having many days of an international festival.
    Excellent video.

People don’t understand, in spite of its problems San Francisco really is one of the better cities in the US. I think people who’ve been living there a while sort of get spoiled and forget what it’s like elsewhere. San Franciscans have worked hard for decades to make the city what it is, and it has a lot going for it.

Hi Joey, yes indeed you are very lucky to live in this beautiful city. I was several times in your beloved town and it is a very european city in many aspects (local stores, cafés, restaurants within the city, a good public transportation, a strong sense of local community an a critical awareness for politics and environment) which are so often missed in other parts of the US. Personally I never have seen a more beautiful city - I love also Amsterdam (in fact there are a lot of similarities) but the scenery and views are incomparable in SFO. So it is nice to see that you are aware of it an enjoy it. Best regards

I visited the city for the first time in 1986 (for Macworld Expo) and fell in love with it, and visited many times although I wasn't able to move here until 2012. The first place I ate on my first visit was Sam Wo, which I read about in Tales Of The City. I was disappointed that Edsel Ford Fong was no longer there.

ive also been seeing so many negativity about sf lately and it makes me so sad because the city is so much more than just tech and left-wing politics (which has been the target of everyone's criticisms). thank you for making such a well-produced video!!! i hope more people can see this

Bro, you have to do a video about the Mission District. 24th and Mission is my neighborhood. Like the history, cultures, events, especially walking down 24th street etc etc. I subscribed by the way

Just subscribed. Love your positivity about the City 💓. I have lived in California on/off for 30 years now (freaking WOW) and have always wanted to live in SF. Guess what?! I'll be living there in May. Dreams really do come true! East Coast gurl living in a West Coast world and loving it. Thanks for the videos!

Hi Joey! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the dedication and work you put into your videos. I am a San Francisco native & I also have a fascination with the Sunset/Richmond districts. To know that someone else also shares a passion/fasciation with those neighborhoods makes me feel less weird about it haha. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Joey for another fantastic video! I have to admit, as a life-long San Franciscan, that I’ve had my darker moods regarding The City over the years. These can be cured easily by traveling to other cities in our country and throughout the world. There truly is no place like home. I’ve been around long enough to know that there’s no such thing as “paradise”, but San Francisco is damn close.

Being a native...well, almost native. I immigrated here at 2 months old...I think another thing that makes the City great: It's ever-changing. For good or for bad, you'll find something new every few years. Whether it's Salesforce Tower and Park that opened a couple of years ago to the new Warriors arena or to which neighborhood is now a popular hang-out spot, San Francisco constantly change, but at the same time, feels the same. It goes back to your reason: the people. The people is what makes the City.

Awesome video. I’ve never been to San Francisco but this makes me want to go as soon as I can. Personally, I’m sick of people saying that cities like it suck, while cities like Nashville (my hometown and current home) are perfect and have no problems... because it’s not true!

I can't imagine anyone making nasty remarks. But there are jerks everywhere. Hey, they have to live with themselves. We don't. Peace be with you.

4th generation native of the Mission, lived in the Richmond for 10 years. Yay Clement Street, which has the best restaurant variety, Green Apple Books and some of the most sincere, unironic shops. I'm staying in SF until Mr. Jesus moves me to Colma. Very heartfelt video, keep it up.
