Her life was cut short by the autoimmune disease. PS. Her last name Duangchan means the Moon and her nickname Pheung means the bee. Vanda: Vanda's outfit was inspired by Pumpuang's signature style such as leopard print, bandana. The judges praised her for modernizing the Pumpuang's silhouette. Bandit: Bandit's outfit was inspired by the song Dao Rueng Dao Roy, one of Pumpuang's song. Dao Rueng means calendula flower (the yellow flower Thai people used for making garlands) but by the actual word Dao Rueng means shining star and Dao Roy basically means faded star. The lyrics of the song are about a girl named Dao Rueng from the countryside who went to be the singer in the city, fell deep into the nightlife, became pregnant, and went back to her hometown shamefully and was called Dao Roy (she went from being a shining star to faded star basically). Bandit's outfit was literally in the shape of the Dao Rueng flower, and she revealed the blank white dress inside with the sad expression, as she went from Dao Reung to Dao Roy. The judges loved the concept of the dress, loved the hair and makeup details, with PanPan being Bandit's hater as usual. She said the concept was great but she didn't get goosebumps, and that Bandit's boy hair was showing on the edge, and how she was disgusted by the green skirt. Srimala: Literally imitated Pumpuang but the judges praised her details of the red pumps (Pumpuang's first pair of pumps were in red). PanPan said the look was a bit unpolished but she got goosebumps bc of the storytelling. (I guess Bandit wasn't telling a f*cking story or sh*t right. F*ck you PanPan). The other judges said her hair looked too manly. Angele: Portrayed an uncomfortable night karaoke bar girl with the bee striped dress. The judges said they didn't see Pumpuang, even said she looked more like Sunaree, another country star. Kana: Came out with a moon backdrop (from Pumpuang's last name Duangchan which means the moon). The judges said her outfit just imitated Pumpuang without creativity and she looked more like a tribute act. Kandy: Came out with a coat with Pumpuang's face on it with a bee costume inside. The judges seemed to love it though. In my opinion, Kandy clearly didn't deserve this win. Her interpretation didn't honor Pumpuang in any way compared to the other girls and took it to the comedy side which I think is inappropriate. I think Vanda or Bandit should have won. And PanPan was being unfair toward Bandit as usual. She always picked Bandit apart with the smallest details but was so willing to let the more busted queen like Srimala slide. And if you've ever seen the video of PanPan performing at Drag Con, her boy hair was clearly showing at the back as well so who are you to talk bit*h.
Thanks for the translation of the concepts and judge's comments! I understood it more now, I also agree bandits look did not deserve to get such harsh criticism. I could barely even see her "boy hair" under the wig! It was hidden fine!
I feel like PanPan was way too harsh on Bandit. Like I get she knew her before this but like don't bring your relationship with her in to the show. I mean Raja and RuPaul were friends outside of the show but Ru didn't expect more from Raja then from other people.
Luckily one of the judges on the right hand, Khun Hai Arbhabhorn she is smart. She knows why Sri Ma La is wearing red heals. Sri Ma La did her research!
As a Thai person who understands the concept of the runway, Kandy's win is such a weak unreasonable win. Bandit or Vanda should have won. PanPan did Bandit so dirty all season it's not even funny. I think they had issues.
