A possum named Tammy..... Love it!
That's absolutely adorable that Tammy has such a strong bond with her rescuer. I've always loved possums, I had one that loved to snuggle with my feral cats and ate cat food. Her name was Peach, although one day she went away, I miss her. Great story 👏 😊💕

So one Saturday I was going to a meeting at the library. I am in the country on a straight road. Up ahead a Vulture is standing over a possum half on and half off the side of the road. I thought to myself that the vulture found itself a meal. As I drove close to the vulture, the vulture made a pick at the possum. The possum moved, it was still alive. I now concluded this vulture was not going to eat this possum alive. I pulled over got out of the car and as I walked back to the possum the vulture flew off. I reached the possum it had a little bloody nose and mouth. I talked to it for a few minutes, then not sure how injured it was, I took the bottom of my phone and began to pet it. It did nothing. So I pet it with my hand and wanted to get it off the road and over to a chain link fence. I picked the possum up moved over by the fence. I didn't want to leave the possum there in case that vulture came back and i didn't want to take it to the meeting with me so I called my daughter in law and she came and picked the possum up. She was a wonderful girl and loved to be hugged. We feed her until she was better and let her loose on our property. A lady in Walmart who used to work for a vet, I told her about the story. She said if you ever see a possum killed along the road check and see if she has any babies still alive in her front pouch.

Opossums are so misunderstood by most. They’re really smart, clean, great for the environment taking car of actual pests, and they’re immune to rabies. Its sad they have such a short life span. Please pass to word to be kind to these little ones. Also, if you see one that has been hit by a vehicle, check them if you can as they might have babies still clinging to the momma Opossum. Thanks.
Because they are a marsupial, the babies when born are the size of a bean and they crawl into the pouch and stay continuously attached to the nipple for about 2-3 months.
If you find babies, they are independent and can survive on their on if they are about 7 inches long, not including the tail.

Guys let's like this videos it's should be mandatory that people know Opossum are good animals. They are really helpfull they are rarely to never get rabies they never bite are not agressive. Their onyl defensive action is to show teeth grow or play dead and emit a stink. They love eating ticks !

We had one who fell out the tree her mom had climbed. She had a head injury, so she was just running in a tight circle until we grabbed her. Her favorite place was the back of my neck, under my hair. I'd be talking to someone, and she'd poke her head out. People were surprised...lol. She insisted on sleeping under my chin, when she slept. You never knew where you'd find her or how high up she'd get. She was the opposite of what I thought possums were like.

Even though I unfortunately don't know much about them (I live in the UK, where sadly, possums don't live, as mentioned in the comments below), I think possums are really sweet and cute! Is it actually true that they "play dead" when sensing danger? Bless the man for rescuing her and the lady who saved her and adopted her, although, I just hope that the fish shown in the video is fake.
I confess I had similar misunderstandings of possums--not only dirty and "dumb" but vicious also. Shows like this prove me wrong, at least in this instance. If she cannot go back to the wild, she surely has a paradise where she's at! 🧡
Fun fact... it's rare for opossums to contract rabies. It's even rarer for them to be aggressive and bite a human.

Hello from Knoxville Tennessee...I used to volunteer at the Zoo. One of the Education animals was a Possum named Sadie. Sometimes, I put a leash on her & walked her in the Petting Zoo. I would sit down and people came up to see her. Some wanted to see her pouch so I would hold her up but she didn't like that position and would squirm till I set her back on my lap. I have possums come to my house at night and sometimes I put out scraps for them.

Possums are amazing.
I had 3 moms and 38 babies took up residence under my home. I live trapped and released all of them in the woods behind my house.... letting the last babies go was hard. They were soooo cute and it did cross my mind to keep just one BUT ... I respect nature to much. It would have been wrong to keep a wild animal that deserved to be wild and free for selfish reasons.
I also grow a garden that I share with the diverse wildlife population on my property so maybe I'll see them again.

We lived in the country and there was a white Opossum that would come to our house to eat our cats food. We would be sitting outside and she would walk between our chairs and stop, then look at me, turn and look at my girlfriend, and wait for us to say hi to her. She would then go to the house, eat, then walk back between our chairs, stop until we said hi, then she would walk off into the brush. This was her normal routine. We know it was a she because she wuld later come through with five babies on her back. Of course we called her Opy.

Unfortunately, opossums have a short life span compared to cats and dogs. I feed a family of raccoons and a family of skunks on the back patio, although I do not try and befriend them. I just watch them when I have time. Our cats do watch them and they do come up to the patio door to watch our cats. I also see a couple of opossums show up on an irregular basis, but I am not certain how often they show up because they are really really nocturnal and I don't stay up late enough to see when they come for the food I set out. In the morning all the food I set out, about 6 or 7 pounds is gone, so I know a bunch of critters are getting pretty well fed each night.

They sure are Ugly Little Creatures. But we get quite a few on our property They are good at eating bad bugs n not destructive ,nosy like raccoons can be getting into our garbage cans. Or Stinky like the skunjs when you accidentally scare them. Most even as rescues live only a handful of years but theyre harmless. 😅

Possums are hugely misunderstood. They are extremely good for the ecosystem..they eat fleas ticks and even venomous snakes..they are calm affectionate and very loving animals. They don't have diseases and the likelihood of them spreading diseases to either humans or other animals is extremely rare because of their lower body temperature..they get along with other animals and people if raised well adjusted and socialized❤
