So wonderful to have your playing to help me correct 60 years of all the little mistakes I’ve been making. Listening to my mom and 3 sibs before me taking piano lessons, and all having the same pieces, I fortunately and unfortunately started learning to play by ear and when I was 10 was given Clemente’s Sonatina. I do read music, but so much easier for me by ear. I fooled 2 piano teachers, but when I was 13 the 3rd, an old school bitty, caught on. She was mad about my looking at my hands too much and covered them with a book. In the end I think she was mad that I fooled her for over a year. She told me at the end of that lesson not come back. I even unsuccessfully tried lessons again in college from a music major. I just wish I could have had a teacher who knew how to work with someone like me. I think I had potential. I sort of gave up after that and settled for learning current rock songs on the radio to entertain myself. Now that I’m retired and have the time, I’m grateful to have found you to learn from. Something to keep my brain going😊
Very interesting dear Tulazaz. 1) Being able to read and play sheet music is very important for the development of piano study. 2) It is important that the piano lessons take place in a good atmosphere. 3) My experience is that a reading process should take longer (more years) if playing from sheet to paper is difficult for the student. 4) Playing by ear is good, fun, but inhibits the fundamental development of the piano student. 5) Playing piano from sheet can also be practiced with practice reading programs. I used those programs a lot when teaching the piano. (Programs in computers). Good luck and have fun playing the piano. It's such a beautiful other peaceful world full of happiness and culture.. Warm greetings, Harry
Your story reminds me of a Billy Joel video. It’s called Billy Joel talks about piano lessons. I believe you’ll relate to his piano lesson experiences. I think you’ll love it. 😊
Thank you very much for sharing your incredibile talent! I'm struggling with these pieces and I find your wonderful interpretation so inspiring...Love and best wishes from Italy😊
Thank you so much sir Harry, that was beautiful and very musical, I'm an adult intermediate level and just learning these beautiful sonatinas and your videos are helping me a lot and very much appreciated, thank you!
Joyfully thankful! Played so beautifully! I have learned 5 movements from this Clementi Sonatina 0p36... (at my level) and they are so enjoyable... thanks for sharing! Played excellently!!! 😊
Oooooh wonderful! ❤ These remind me of my classic lessons in my childhood 😊 I had much fun with Sonatinas from Clementi, Czerny, Kuhlau etc. Thank you for bringing back some memories ❤
So glad to see you again. I couldn't find your vedio in a sudden with no reason, and I was so worried about you. So so glad to see you again. All the best.🌹🌹🌹
As a teen I was pretty good at Clementi's op 36, no 3, sadly I quit because I never appreciated my talent playing the classics. Now middle aged, I've recently picked up a digital piano to see if I still have it. Surprisingly I'm still able to play! Now that I'm older I appreciate my ability I'm now teaching myself a Rondo my Mozart.
Thank you for your interesting, nice and valuable words. A restart? I understand that. A digital piano ?, perfect. Here is the link for my Rondo by Mozart. Great success with your piano playing. Harry Völker from the Netherlands. th-cam.com/video/TjsMN95r_04/w-d-xo.html
I love this! I am a Piano Teacher and have an adult pupil, who is wonderfully talented, playing by ear. He wants to learn to sight-read better, and loves methodical music (he's an accountant). I have been looking for a study piece for him, to trust his hands more, without necessarily looking at the keyboard. The third movement is it. Love this vídeo as an educational resource. Great example of all the upper limbs and body doing their bit in this performance.
Very interesting. Yes, piano playing is complex. The whole body is active. And every piano pupil is different. Great success with your job. Warm greetings, Harry
Harry
Dear Fabien, playing sheet music with a good fast view and practicing a few more times can quickly produce a good result. That is my method for all those pieces that I play. Go play or have played. Warm greetings, Harry
@@Chopinmusic OK. Thank you for your answer. What i wanted to know is, do you sometimes learn by heart your pieces. I'm not a musician but it interest me a lot.
I wish the decades long trend of pianists waving their hands up and down in the air like giant fairies as they play can hurry up and finally be over. Such unnatural, overblown nonsensical melodrama. How can these pianists not see how absolutely ridiculous this looks?
