I completely agree with you, Justine on how Tech can motivate us. Last year in September when I went to the doctor I had a scare I was 386 pounds. So that day I went to Walmart and bought me my Apple Watch series 7 and a smart scale. I tell you this, those were the best two purchases I ever made for myself. Those two things kept me on track. I always failed, trying to get fit, but with the analytics from the watch and the scale kept motivating me. Today I weigh 272 pounds. My goal is to get down to 250 or 225.
I am SO excited for you! We got certified about 2 years ago and were VERY QUICKLY obsessed. It's the best community, so fun, so welcoming.. and BEAUTIFUL! We are getting our AOW in early July in Cozumel and are STOKED! Trading in my reg apple watch for the ultra before that trip just for the dive computer. I know there is better diving tech out there, but for a few dives/year at relatively shallow depths, it's perfect for me. Welcome to the scuba world!!
I got the Ultra shortly after launch and it's been pretty fantastic. Wayyy more durable than regular models. I had an S4 and S6 before and both looked like hell cosmetically after a year (I have an outdoor job). My Ultra still looks pretty much new.
This was a great story. So proud of you going through the fear, not giving up, being an overcomer! In exchange of those few minutes of stepping outside of your comfort zone, you will be a certified diver now for the rest of your life! I like to travel light so just brining my favorite mask, fins GoPro and Apple Watch Ultra on dive trips.
I bought a used Apple Watch 7 around the end of last year because i wanted to start keeping track of my runs. At the time i could barely run down the block without needing a break.. the watch really motivated me to start running, closing my rings, and overall just keep better track of my health! Now I can easily run 5 miles nonstop no problem and im excited to see how far the watch takes me! Thanks for making this video @iJustine
I have the Apple Watch ultra, along with my 14 plus. The ultra was is a tank and the battery life is nuts, right now my watch is at 66% and I charged it over 24hrs ago. The battery life of the ultra and 14 plus are two devices meant for each other, yeah the pro is nice but that dynamic island is definitely a gimmick and not a deal breaker for me. I use both Android and iPhone, so I have a s23+ also. So if I need the telephoto lens I just use that one, but if you have the money for the Apple Watch ultra. I definitely recommend it 👌🏽
Love it when people say battery life is nuts and they can only use it 3 days…..4 months ago i swapped from apple watch 8, to a garmin fenix 7 solar and now I have 21 days of battery. Lifes been great
To those recommending a Garmin, I do use one with my android phone. I use the ultra for my iPhone since it’s works better together and my Garmin and Samsung work better together. The battery life does outlast the ultra, easily no question. But compared to the other Apple Watches the ultra holds up way better. If you’re wondering I use the Fenix 7x - Sapphire Solar Edition
I’ve been a viewer for a long time, but never commented. I have been diving for 30 plus years, and it has brought me great joy and many good friends. I have traveled all around the world diving and there are many wonderful places, but some of the best are nearby in the Caribbean and Mexico. Cozumel is the best bang for the buck anywhere. Im so glad you didn't went in with the trial loop. I dove off a rock wearing it thinking it was stronger than the regular sportloop, thankfully realised just in time it got loose before the ultra made its way into the ocean. *I no longer go swimming with it.
I bought my Ultra at the beginning of May specifically as a dive computer. It’s first dip in the water two weeks later was on a cenote dive in Mexico. It died within 10 feet of the surface. Like DEAD, completely. A brand new Ultra. Not only that but the Apple Store refused to exchange it claiming water damage isn’t a covered reason for returns and it would have to be sent for repair! I eventually reached someone on Apple’s phone support and a replacement is currently in the mail, but man this whole process has been *super* frustrating. All that said, welcome to scuba diving!! It’s impossible to express how amazing of an activity it is, you just have to get out there and explore. Even after doing it for years and years in different conditions and environments across the globe I’m still constantly amazed at the new things I see. The cenote dive I just mentioned is a great example and one of the most surprisingly beautiful dives I’ve ever been on. The fascinating rock formations, transitioning above and below the halocline, looking through cobalt blue light shafts up at the green forest and exotic birds overhead…it totally blew me away. But yes, your video contains an excellent reminder for all divers: always have a backup. And from personal experience, be very wary about relying on the Apple Watch as a safety-critical piece of equipment.

But the Apple Watch Ultra seems so enticing because I can use it as an apple watch and a dive computer for when I do go dive once or twice a year. Sorry for the dumb question 😂 but how do you use the depth calculator if whenever you go into the water with the watch, you have to block it with the protective drop 💧and that doesn’t let you use the screen?
I had a zone 2 half marathon and found the battery almost died right after a three-hour running. will definite buy one ultra this year if Apple updates the product line.
It’s my favourite piece of tech I’ve had in years…..I barely use any of its extreme features but it so awesome. And holds me with Apple more than any other product I’ve ever used. I use windows computer, Google services but iPhone, watch and buds pro ❤
do you recommend it for people who dont do jogging or climb the Everest? like what are the ordinary day utilities besides checking notifications and using cronometer for cooking your spaghetti? does it have a built-in taser in case you get an aggression? can u buy stuff directly from it via online stores? can you talk to siri like a 007 agent?
As a side note, Apple Watch Ultra is not a great diver computer, it is ok for recreational dives not going under 40mts... anything after that the watch will stop working and you could probably die
The Ultra is the best watch i’ve ever had, works amazing day to day in my job in education and in my extra activities outside of work inc kayaking, sailing & cycling. It’s especially great in the lovely rainy british weather 😂 I use the train loop also so comfortable I LOVE IT! Thanks for another awesome video sending all the love from the UK 🇬🇧

Loving my Ultra as well 👍 Apple Watch in general has really helped me to a healthier lifestyle after a herniated disc and the pandemic. Running with the AWU on the wrist, a good playlist going and tracking my improvements in pace, distance and VO2 is so great along with sleep tracking.

If you spit in your eye mask then the mask won't fog up. Very impressed that you got dive certified even though you basically had a panic attack your first dive! Good for you!
I just ordered my Apple Watch Ultra today and should receive it tomorrow. As a diver, I am excited to try it as we in the dive community are a bunch of nerds anyway and love our gadgets! I would love to see you explore underwater photography with quality gear. Additionally, you could use your Apple Watch Ultra and work on keeping that resting HR low by doing a series on triathlon training.
7:18 biggest fear is afraid of heights sometimes I feel unsafe on ladders I remember climbing my brothers bunk bed (we used to share a bed together we basically slept in the same room) and I could not get down,this ladder was four steps I think I could not get back down climbing up was easy what was difficult was getting down I had a fear that I was gonna fall off and injure myself very badly. Nowadays I would have a problem with bunk beds I haven’t slept in one in years I would pick the lower bunk 😅
I’m thinking about getting certified into scuba diving so sharing your journey was much appreciated. Helps me gain perspective starting out on that hobby and would definitely like to own an Apple Watch Ultra for that.

@Justine, did PADI International still issue a diving licence? I did my open water course a few years back, and got a diving licence to use anywhere in the world. Providing its PADI certified, unfortunately, I left it behind when we went for a dive in the gulf of Aqaba.

My Apple Watch Ultra uses about 1% per hour most days. Took mine off charge at 4am and it’s now at 98% at 10am. Love my ultra.
