    Wow, great job. The desk is such a functional design and visually it lands so much lighter on the floor plan. Loved that you brightened up the whole space. I wish more manufacturers that are wedded to the cozy cabin look would offer this more modern and lighter look. Also, I know they put the booths in to offer, and be able to claim, that their units sleep more people, but so many couples and singles care more about a functional work space than extra sleep spaces. They should offer these changes on at least some of their floor plans. I vote for a new, lighter colored curtain to close off the sleeping space. I’d go with a natural canvas type color-you want it to visually disappear when it’s open so a color closer to wall shade and curtain rod will be better than grey. It’s not a feature to highlight, you just want to not notice it at all. In my humble opinion. And thanks for allowing comments. New to your channel-just subscribed.

    • @AdventurousWay

      Welcome to the channel - we always love to hear thoughts, feedback and suggestions on what we share!
      As for the curtain, I agree - a neutral light-colored curtain would be nice. The issue is it's actually quite a large curtain (both height and width), and at least from our initial search, the fabric was quite expensive. We were trying to find something light grey, similar to the blinds, but decided it was too much money to justify. Plus, we so rarely use the curtain that it doesn't bother us too much. Maybe one day.
      Part of the reason we don't use the curtain is because, as you say, there are only two of us! I totally agree with you about trailers for singles and couples - we really had no need to sleep more than 2, yet it was hard to find a trailer that would only sleep 2! In fact, the marketing material / sales pitch for so many trailers leads with some fantastic number of people that can sleep inside it. Like you say, we'd have been very interested in a trailer offering workspace rather than more sleeping areas, but we just couldn't find it. Hopefully manufacturers will begin to take note...

    Your remodel is fabulous! I really like that you chose a soft, warm white instead of a bright, cold white. The decision not to paint the cabinets was a good one, they look great with the colors you chose. I love the desk/table that replaced the dinette, it’s so much more functional than the dinette. I’ve been wanting to update my RV for a few years and plan to if I can get passed my husband’s fear of change.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we are glad we went with a warm white. I think it also goes together better with the warm wood cabinets than cold white would have.

    I painted my ceiling sky blue and added daylight 5000K bulbs pointing up to create a sky like substance. Very nice on a spooky dark cold winter day. Also painted bedroom walls and ceiling a merlot color which not only smells like my favorite wine 🍷 when I scratch and sniff but it absorbs any full moon🌙 light and keeps area dark at night.

    Incredible update to an already excellent RV. The desk is quite stellar! Your right, the light paint makes it look brighter and more spacious. We are going to be doing a renovation of our little Scamp. It will be our first RV project. Today I got to actually get into and touch all the high quality goodness of four different Outdoors RV trailers. Videos are great, see and touching way better. We are about to start our journey towards a new ORV Trailer. Thanks for your many videos, explanations. It would be great to see some videos on hitching, unhitching and impressions of trailing it moderate winds. Looking forward to many more videos.

    The Outdoors RVs are after the woodsy feel with a craftsman or cabin interior. I am glad you are happy with your decor change. Anyone looking to buy one of these units should know that is Outdoors RVs motif. More Shawn James (the off grid Canadian) and less Jean Nouvel.

  • @2CorgiMom
    @2CorgiMom 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Love your updated office space and the lighter, brighter look of the interior! What a difference! Brighter colors make for more a productive workspace and greater creativity! We just returned from Yellowstone and Grand Tetons in our 22FQS and I showed this video to my better half and he said “don’t even think about it”! 🤣
    Congrats on a job well done!

  • @tcbnode
    @tcbnode 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Congratulations on a job well done! We have taken a long hard look at the ORV trailers and really like the build and many of the features for full time living off-grid. Several major negatives we have are the floorplans, size of refrigerators and the dinette. You solved the dinette issue brilliantly. Agree with you about the browns everywhere, the new lighter color scheme is such a big improvement that ORV should take notice. Thanks for sharing your work, it is very inspiring.

    Amazing finished project! You two truly compliment one another in so many ways and your latest video proves that! So tastefully done and such hard work and the results show it! As I've said before, you ought to be Brand Ambassadors for Outdoor RV. They could also take design cues from you (as when Matt insulated the basement storage) and the rest of your current redesign. With Matt's handyman skill's and Diana's ability for the editing and video production you guys are unstoppable! I only have one question...how does Diana get her hair into a bun so small and tight? Lol. God bless you both and thank you so very much for sharing with us!

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, I'm not doing anything special for the bun - just a big strong hair tie. I think the type I have right now is called a scrunchie. As always, thank you for the kind words.

  • @julieh3327
    @julieh3327 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks lovely. I like what you did to remodel. If you are painting again, if you take the tape off right after you finish the painting, even while the paint is wet, you won’t have the issues of pulling the paint off too when you take the tape off. I learned that the hard way. I love your backsplash and the desk area is very nice. Good job!

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We went back and forth with when to take off the tape. We did multiple layers of primer and paint, so in the end we decided we would add way too much work if we took the tape off after each layer and re-taped again for the next layer. Careful scoring with a razor blade along the edges of dried up paint worked well.

    Regarding the office chairs on carpet. looking into "rollerblade carters". they roll over carpet with no effort, cost between $25 and $45 and some even come with caster locks which will keep your chairs from moving while in transit. I live full time in my RV and i love these things. The only down side is if you have a cheap chair with a plastic base (legs), they may twist due to the casters off set being a little more pronounced. If that is a issue, you can look into buying a aluminum base (about $65). yes the $$ start to add up but for me having a office chair that stays put while i am driving without having to tie it to the table or lay it down is well worth it.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! The desk has been an absolute game changer for us - it's worked out exactly as we hoped! The only thing I'd change is the grey paint on the desk top. It's as though it didn't properly cure, even though we followed all the instructions to the letter in a dedicated paint booth - very odd. We're probably going to resurface / replace the desk top in the near future, but otherwise we love it!

      @@AdventurousWay Love the desk! Are you using the desk as a dining table as well? That would work out OK for my laptops but I’ve also got a 38” curved monitor.
      What model RV do you have?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ours is a 2018 Outdoors RV 21RBS. Yes, the desk is our dining table as well - it's the only seating we have in the RV in fact. There's no reason you couldn't customize it to accommodate an external monitor - there are lots of options.

    Hi, I really like your remodel, I love the light and bright of it. We just started out a month ago with out ORV 25RDS. We have been watching you and several others for the last two years as we prepared for our life a full timers. We also got our rig at Thompson RV. I want to change at least the top of my fridge to a white board like yours. If you could let me know how hard it was and where you have gotten the materials. Thanks, enjoy New England, that was our home until Aug 3, when we came to OR/WA area while we waited for the RV to be delivered. Kat & Rog

    Like the look and glad you did not do anything to the cabinets. Interested if the blinds are going to flap around and damage the paint when going down the road.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the blinds do flap around. Definitely install bottom brackets if you install these kind of blinds in a motorhome because they do make noise when flapping. So far we have done 3000+ miles and haven't seen any damage to the paint from the blinds.

  • @billb672

    Now that you've worked at the desk for a few weeks how do you like it? Your style with keeping the storage underneath for the bins and the cabinets is great. I am thinking of doing something similar, but want to have 2 monitors for both me and the wife because we work full time still. If you were to do it again what changes would you make?

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We love our new setup. The dimensions, built in power and how the table is laid out works great for us. The only thing that hasn't worked out is the paint on the table - it is chipping away on the corners where we use it. At Home Depot we were told it's the strongest paint (Behr Alkyd Enamel) for this application there is, but somehow it is not working.

    Love the Reno , but I did notice that your desk looked rather tight with the desk chairs and the clearance behind them when you were sitting in them, it looked like you'll be rubbing against the slide walls? or was this just me? other wise it looks awesome.

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, it is quite tight! Not just behind them, but also from side to side - there is a slope under the carpet at the edge of the slide.
      We knew that before we started the remodel though, and I iterated several times on the desk design to try and optimize available desk space vs space for the chairs. In fact, in the video you may have spotted us dry fitting the desk with some standard dining chairs - that was to make sure there would be space for the chairs to fit comfortably.
      Then, when buying our office chairs, we carefully measured them in the store to make sure they'd fit - size was one of our main criteria for the office chairs!
      Once you're used to it, it's honestly not an issue. Sure, we can't recline in the chairs too far, but for working at the desk that's not an issue.

    • @AdventurousWay

      Which one? The color for the walls is called Confident White. The color of blinds is Sovereign Koala.

    Great job you two! Gratz on your 100th video, especially in just TWO years (like that's 1 a week EACH and EVERY week for two years!) you guys deserve all the credit you've gotten for doing so much in so little time! Real boffins imho as you two dovetail so nicely in your respective skills, experience, and knowledge. Are those headphones ¼" banana plugs, or 5-pin XLR male connection? At any rate, I really enjoy the fact that your audio is superb, as I feel most people will put up with dodgy video, but NOT poor quality audio. These are the cans to get for doing best quality audio that I've seen for quite a while: www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-BPHS1-Broadcast-Headset-Cardioid/dp/B003D87JI2/ref=sr_1_6?crid=19487CSP59Y6N&dchild=1&keywords=xlr+headphones&qid=1601283756&sprefix=xlr+headphones%2Celectronics%2C215&sr=8-6 Safe, and happy travels from the Boondocking Brewer™!

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The headphones I got have the standard TRS plug as I'm editing directly from laptop (and monitoring line out from our Zoom audio recorder is also standard headphone jack). We try our best with audio! We don't always get it right, especially when we film in new environments, but we learn and try our best next time.

    Excellent job with a lot of time and sweat equity. Outdoors RV should hire you two or at least plagiarize your ideas! We are about to buy one of their trailers but would much rather have your interior design compared to the dung brown walls and NASCAR Hooters jacket exterior decals. I was told that we cannot order a trailer without the hideous exterior decals. I love their engineering and passion for the product. But please hire some designers!

    • @AdventurousWay
      @AdventurousWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope eventually they will add lighter interior options! Some of their recent Trail series models have nicer exterior graphics - with mountains, not just swooshes.
