That really blew my mind when i heard it. And i love that the TH-cam algorithm throws me in these reaction vids after listening to a Pete and Bas release. I actually discovered new music.
"Blacks & Whites in the batch and it's two tone". Throwback to the 70s ska revival in England, black and white music culture mixing in the streets when Pete and Bas were young. That's a unity bar not a lot of rappers would think of, if anyone still doubts them writing their own stuff.
@@RetroQuinReacts It goes on into the second line "Suits on the boys...". because many two tone ska bands like The Specials would always perform wearing suits. Not sure if the Judo line has some relation I'm missing or if it's just tacked on there as a way of saying their homies are ready to scrap.

You go down the rabbit hole you are about to find out. Bas just got released recently from his most recent stint behind bars. Golf, Browns, Estate, Sindu Shesh, Quick 1-2, and windowframe cypher (a fun one with other old dudes) should be your starting line up.

Yeah Pete and Bas are for real, they were never a gimmick. I highly recommend a few tracks you should check out. "Sindhu Sesh" might be their most bar heavy song. Every line is amazing. "Browns" has a killer beat and also has great bars. It's hard to find because the music video was filmed in a stripclub the song is named after. "Golf" is great and gives you a rundown on Petes criminal history and introduces you to Norman Pain who is another older rapper. "Freestyle with Fumes" is probably the song that got them famous. Amazing beat, great bars, amazing back and forth in the last verse. Its just a great showcase for them really. They also send shots to half the UK drill scene near the end.
@@RetroQuinReacts In terms of Backstory. There are rumours about their criminal life that the song Golf confirms atleast for Pete. Pete was rumoured to be involved in british gangs in the 50s/60s Bas was a boxer who was involved in illegal betting and a weed farm. Pete got into Drill by listening to it on the car radio when his grandkids turned the channel over. He hated it at first but it grew on him. Bas was a friend of his who was a music teacher so he understood music. They released a few track you can still find on youtube and they just blew up from there. They have a Mixtape and I think they are coming out with a new album soon.
These game/sport refs are crazy. Judo, Cluedo, checkers, tic tac (toe), knock it out the park/home run, hop skip and jump. The food refs even more crazy, tucked (tuc), salt & pepper, tic tac, big mac, Chardonnay, kit kat, hop (beer), lime, ripe for the pickin (fruit), fried chicken, bread, meat & veg, beans, Guinness, pork!
"Pray for my sins on a Sunday" (confession); "I'm a drunk chef" (alcohol, wine, a stretch but it works); "Dome like a monk's head" (priest hairstyle, churches will typically have a domed roof); "Taste for the flesh" (communion wafers) The schemes are insane.
“I made it thru the dark days, Phantom looking at the roof you can star gaze.” That’s a reference to the roof of a rolls Royce phantom but also it’s a reference to Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom is a musical genius behind the scenes who is for years not taken seriously because of how he looks. That’s like Bas. Phantom of the opera is played in amphitheaters and when the Phantom performs he can look up and in the bannisters up above are royalty and celebrities. Therefor he’s star gazing…at celebrities as a musical artist. That is hands down the coldest line I’ve ever heard. People miss it because most people don’t know about phantom of the opera.
Check out: Sindhu Sesh, Gangster Sh**, Plugged In (w/ Fumez). Mr. Worldwide is fun and Pete has a great double time flow. Enjoy the rabbit hole. Pete (Short one) got into drill from taking his grandaughter to school and she would repeatedly play drill. He grew to enjoy it over time and introduced Bas (tall one) to it later. Bas is also musically trained to some degree. Both have done serious time for drug and violence related offences, so they know what they're talking about. Might have missed some details so feel free to add / correct!
A Longthorne Shotgun is the most expensive shotgun in the world. The cheapest is over $16,000, which is 15,000 British pounds. As others have said, these gentlemen are rappin' rappin'
research department: Pete is the shorter one with the raspy voice (whos actually currently battling skin cancer) and Bas (pronounced like Baz) is the taller one with the smoother style... both these boys are for real, UK guys that used to run with some of the organized crime families in Britain back in the day... they write all of their own shit, sometimes asking their kids/grandkids for newer slang words but thats basically it.. they also have gotten some of the old guys they hangout with to start rapping too, and some of them arent too bad either which is super fuckin hilarious! in all seriousness, this is one rabbit hole you do need to go down because its one that will have you bumping them in your free time and adding them to the bangers playlist most of the time.
I haven't seen mention of "fried like a chicken; he could have been alive, but he's kicking the bucket; dead to the bone, finger licking"...shout out that KFC bar!
Check generals corner ... it's a complete package ... a lot of bars! They will be missed once they're gone.. prolly about 10 songs that are legit. Another is Golf .... I'm sure you'll get plenty in of indoor them. Cheers
Google a Long throne shotgun... They are used mainly for shooting skeet, ducks,geese... They cost anywhere from $ 20,000 to $ 50,000 per gun... All original designs... Ammo is just as pricey...
Wiccan is a reference to a follower or practitioner of Modern Paganism, but Wicca is also female centric (skirt) and has several moon rituals (dark). So, that was quick maths from Bas.
Some in the UK also refer to females as (skirts), and this may be stretching, but you can nearly connect some underlying jack the ripper bars with the focus on "Skirt in the dark" then shortly after "Ripe for the pickin"
Skirt is also a verb meaning to go around the edge of border of something...skirt in the dark like a wiccan...witches also known (at least in Hollywood) for wearing black skirts or smocks. The words play together also like "skirten the dark like a Wiccan" as in "getting around in the dark like a witch" as many Wiccan rituals are performed at night...in the dark. If you in Louisiana, you heard of voodoo...thems is a form of Wiccan ...in a sense. My great great grandma and grandpa were from Lafayette...grandma used to put curses on people using a live chicken.
@tlg22073 great breakdown. And thanks for sharing that information too. Were u able to rinses the voodoo stuff from ur grandma or did they just tell u the stories?
I'm really curious, where's your accent from? I can't remember hearing an accent like yours before. give's the reaction sometging...different. I like that.
@@RetroQuinReacts yikes.. I got it messed up. A Warlock is a male witch. A Wiccan is somebody who practices Wicca, described as a modern pagan, syncretic, earth-centered religion.
Monks in old days like medieval times shaved the top of their heads to express their devotion. Its like wearing a hat in church, you are supposed to take it off to show respect to god. The monks took it to the extreme and shaved the top of their head. Having your head covered showed disrespect to God for them.
PS... It's wiggin not wiccan... Cambridge English Dictionary : Wiggin is an old-fashioned informal word for an occasion when someone criticizes or speaks angrily to someone else about something they have said or done.
Ps it is wiccan. A wiccan is a person who worships nature and some weird pagan gods. They wear skirts in the dark. Essentially a witch for lack of better word
Wiggan doesnt make sense. Skirt in the dark like a wiccan, i.e. drunk driving at night, ripe for the picking i.e. they should be arrested, fried like a chicken, i.e. drunk, stoned all that

research department: Pete is the shorter one with the raspy voice (whos actually currently battling skin cancer) and Bas (pronounced like Baz) is the taller one with the smoother style... both these boys are for real, UK guys that used to run with some of the organized crime families in Britain back in the day... they write all of their own shit, sometimes asking their kids/grandkids for newer slang words but thats basically it.. they also have gotten some of the old guys they hangout with to start rapping too, and some of them arent too bad either which is super fuckin hilarious! in all seriousness, this is one rabbit hole you do need to go down because its one that will have you bumping them in your free time and adding them to the bangers playlist most of the time.
My man! Thank u for catching me up to speed on these guys. I’m definitely going to be checking out more of their work 🤝🏾

Wiccan is a reference to a follower or practitioner of Modern Paganism, but Wicca is also female centric (skirt) and has several moon rituals (dark). So, that was quick maths from Bas.
Ahhhh I see! Thanks for clarifying that 🔥
Some in the UK also refer to females as (skirts), and this may be stretching, but you can nearly connect some underlying jack the ripper bars with the focus on "Skirt in the dark" then shortly after "Ripe for the pickin"
@shannonharris898 Preciate u for breaking that down. Makes perfect sense to me 💪🏾
Skirt is also a verb meaning to go around the edge of border of something...skirt in the dark like a wiccan...witches also known (at least in Hollywood) for wearing black skirts or smocks.

Wiccan.. .a male witch 🧹
Appreciate that 🙏🏾
@@RetroQuinReacts yikes.. I got it messed up. A Warlock is a male witch. A Wiccan is somebody who practices Wicca, described as a modern pagan, syncretic, earth-centered religion.
Lol no worries. Thanks for clarifying it tho
@@RetroQuinReacts 😘

16 large for a Longthorne Shotgun

Monks in old days like medieval times shaved the top of their heads to express their devotion. Its like wearing a hat in church, you are supposed to take it off to show respect to god. The monks took it to the extreme and shaved the top of their head. Having your head covered showed disrespect to God for them.
Got it. Thanks so much for detailing that
"wiccan" is a witch, kind of, it's someone who follows the Wiccan religion, they call themselves witches, but they don't necessarily do real magic
Fasho! Thanks for sharing this information 💪🏾
Wicken is a form of pagan religion. They often dress in emo skirts and use lots of hair dye and makeup.
Thank u for letting me kno about that
Chur brother
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Bro so late.. this is nothing. so now you gotta do the rabbit hole
Lol I gotta agree wit ya on that. I should have been checked em out. The rabbit hole begins now tho
UkoGz
💪🏾💪🏾
That's not a thing
🤔
PS... It's wiggin not wiccan... Cambridge English Dictionary : Wiggin is an old-fashioned informal word for an occasion when someone criticizes or speaks angrily to someone else about something they have said or done.
Thanks for the clarity 💪🏾
Ps it is wiccan. A wiccan is a person who worships nature and some weird pagan gods. They wear skirts in the dark. Essentially a witch for lack of better word
Wiggan doesnt make sense.
Skirt in the dark like a wiccan, i.e. drunk driving at night, ripe for the picking i.e. they should be arrested, fried like a chicken, i.e. drunk, stoned all that
great marketing gimmick
They do tours and shows in the uk. I think they are artists grinding just like any others.
Fried like a chicken could of been alive but he kicking down to the bottom of the bucket finger licking😂😂😂
When you die you kick the bucket!@@RyanBroome-k9p
