Oh my God, this was the best video that I've watched after searching a lot to understand how to answer summary questions in the TOEFL exam! Thanks a lot. Now I feel less worried. But will you please tell me, how am I suppose to find the keywords and all the stuff you explained in its video very fast, and answer summary questions immediately? Because this process is so time-consuming and the time limit for answering the questions is so short.
Hi Vahid Thank you for your comment. I'm so happy that my video is helpful! Regarding your question, pay attention to keywords like nouns and verbs in a sentence. Grab them out. Then the sentence will become shorter. I demonstrated this in details in another two videos. You can check them out. th-cam.com/video/f9iE2chOTbA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/eGfMOcrxu9I/w-d-xo.html I agree with you! This process takes more time to finish. So you need to leave more time for summary questions. I usually finish a vocabulary question in 1-2 minutes so that I can leave 4-5 minutes for a summary question. Don't spend too much time at the beginning, and you only leave 2 minutes for a summary questions. This is why people often feel there is not enough time to finish summary questions. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me if you have other questions!

Hello @Carrie Ji, I've seen your video, and the strategies are very good. In addition to these, how much time do you spend to locate the parts of the text that are related to the possible answers? and, do you have any strategy to recognize them fast? Thank you in advance!
Hi Fernando! This is a great question, and it's the most difficult part in TOEFL. I usually spent 3-5 mins to finish a summary question. First, since you already have some basic idea of the reading while answering questions before, you can go back to the related paragraph to find the answers. If you have no idea about that answer, check the first sentence of each paragraph (except the first paragraph). Use your pen to guide yourself to find your answer. You can practice reading faster by moving your pen faster. And remember the key words that you need to find. Sometime people forget this. Does this help? I will make a video to explain the skimming skill clearly. Leave me comments if you have any questions.
Hi Frendy. Thank you for your comment! It depends on how hard the reading passages are. I usually forced myself to finish one reading passage in 15 mins. I gave myself about 4-5mins for the last questions. Hope it helps you. Please share my videos to support me. Thank you!
Yes I used toeflbank to practice under time pressure. But the speaking part and writing part of it were easier than the real exam. I'd suggest doing more practice on other TPO. Hope this helps ^-^

Four steps to solve summary questions. Step 1. Read the intro sentence. Since it's the summary of the passage, you will know what you need to focus on choosing sentences later. Remember to grab keywords in the intro sentence to understand it easily. The example is at 1:00 of the video. Step 2. Check answer choices and try to rule out some answers choices. Since you already solve 9 problems before a summary question, you could rule out some answers based on that. The example is at 2:00. Step 3. Go back to the passage and find out related info about the question. Focus on the first sentences of main paragraphs. Or the info you gather from the previous questions. This part is at 4:07. Step 4 Scan keywords or their synonyms/antonyms to find out the answers. Sometimes TOEFL changes the order of the sentences to confuse you. The example is at 4:52. These are the four steps to solve summary questions. Hope they are helpful :)
Hi Monika. I don't need to take GRE/GMAT since I have working experience. Now many universities cancel GRE/GMAT because of covid. You can double check. Hope it helps. Thank you!
Hey carrie, does this mean, 6 questions equivalent to 6 passages... I mean, there 6 options are there and and each options are from each para, right? So, here I can eliminate minor details directly, and after that, we left with the big ideas. Then I have to find mistakes in these big ideas... Is it ok?
No that's not for sure. Maybe 2 answer choices are all in one paragraph. This is why I suggest answering questions in order. According to what you read before the passage, you can eliminate the wrong answers first. Then you choose the answers which summarizes the main ideas. Check out the steps in the video. There is an detailed example to show you how I answered this type of questions. :)
