    4:00 why is D correct? I mean, this answer does not mention DIRECTION of birds. However C does (and C also includes all info I believe).

    Hi Carrie,
    I have a question regarding this passage. I tend to remove the first two options also on the basis of Words, "Scientists". As highlighted sentence just mentioned "Researchers". Is it also a good thing?
    Please help me out... It will be very useful to strike out one thing from my head as most times this has happened

    • @CarrieJi
      @CarrieJi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Darshil It may not a good idea to remove A & B just because of "scientists" instead of "researchers". These two words are very similar. Put either one into the sentence, the main idea of the sentence is the same. Remember, sentence questions are to find the sentence which is the best expression of the highlighted sentence. Focus on the main idea of the sentence rather than the minor details. Hope this helps.

    could i ask a question, i think the answer of D is also missing something, since it doesn't show the information about the destination (where they were going). could Currie explain it for me , thanks a lot.

    • @CarrieJi
      @CarrieJi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Zhou Bingyu! This's a great question! Sentence questions ask you to find out the below sentence "best express the essential information in the highlighted sentence". Sometimes, the answer and the highlighted sentence are not exactly the same, but the answer covers most part of the highlighted sentence, while the other incorrect choices "change the meaning in important ways or leave out essential information". Answer D doesn't show the information of where they were going, but this is just a minor detail. It covers most key important information of the highlighted sentence. And other choices all include wrong information, so the answer is D. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask questions here! ^_^

    Dear Carrie, what is your strategy to answer the detail questions? I mostly have lots of problems answering the detail questions! I don't know why I always answer them wrong!

    • @CarrieJi
      @CarrieJi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Vahid! I made a video about detail questions. Check it out th-cam.com/video/eGfMOcrxu9I/w-d-xo.html
      And I think maybe you are in a hurry to answer detail questions, so you choose the wrong answer. It takes time to answer detail questions as well as summary questions. Try to do fast on vocabulary and reference word questions, so you have more time for detail questions. Hope this helps!

    • @VahidNajafii
      @VahidNajafii 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CarrieJi Thank you very much, dear Carrie. I'll definitely check it too. Detail questions genuinely drive me crazy since they are the main reason that I lose most of my scores. Today I've been practicing and my total reading score was awful. It really made me down and frustrated. I don't know how to improve my reading score! It really sucks.

    • @CarrieJi
      @CarrieJi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@VahidNajafii Hi Vahid. Sorry to hear about that, but don't give up! I only got 3 points in reading on my first mock exam, but I ended up getting 27 finally. Points the you get from the practice don't matter. I guess you're at the beginning of preparation, right? I'd suggest practicing on the same type of questions rather than doing the whole problem set in reading. Spend 1-2 days only practicing on detail questions. Use the strategies that I shared in the video and apply them into answering questions. After practicing on 10 positive and 10 negative detail questions, you will see the progress! Let me know if this helps :)
