Howdy folks (and Jingles). I was that second Wyoming driver (L9114). My intent was to try to get to the enemy cap and nail the CV, hoping I could cap them out on points. I knew I had next to no chance of killing the DD, but I could kill the CV. He showed up in the channel and I tried to engage, then turn on the DD. I had one kill already but I didn't think I'd win...just didn't want to let down the team without a fight. Bear in mind that when this fight took place I'd only been playing the game a few days, perhaps today I'd make a different call, who knows? At any rate, I'll take my 15 minutes of infamy....Cheers.
to be fair to you, there really was no happy answer. That dude single-handedly bitchslapped your whole team. trying to deal with the kills you KNOW you can make isn't really a bad move considering.

It looks like even if you had killed the DD he might have been able to kill you in turn leaving the CV to win the game for the enemy team just by surviving. Some battles you are just going to lose no matter what you do.

The carry and Atlas reference is a smart one, kudos, but the copyright violation addition causes the joke/analogy to fall flat. Atlas's "carry"; was a condemnation, not an act done to impress, nor an act that required or would be eligible for copyright protection.. Lawsuits and copyright violations don't exactly mix with Greek Mythology combined with video game replays.
Anyone else check to make sure their username isn't in either team list before watching to see if Jingles is showing a replay of you being drunkenly terrible?

let me organise it better for you.
rage is measured by SALT, the marking for which will be NaCl (10 points for creativity, amirite?)
smaller units would be minisalt, (m)NaCl, and 1000 of those is 1 NaCl.
after that you have the kilosalt, then the megasalt, and then the gigasalt, (k)NaCl (M)NaCl and (g)NaCl respectively, and 1000 NaCl=1(k)NaCl, 1000 (k)NaCl=1 (M)NaCl, and 1000 (M)NaCl= 1 (g)NaCl.
1 salt is 1 insulting sentence in a previously agreed upon measurement of time (1 match in WoT, for example, which is most of the time 15 minutes or less). a sentence which only seems to be aggressive but doesn't contain swearing and direct offense towards anybody is measured in minisalt, and it's measured differently- first you have to decide the aggressiveness on a scale from 1 to 9.99, and then multiply it by 10 to get the measure in minisalt. then you can go about translating it into larger units should you want to.

i watch these videos and all I wanna do is play WOWship's. Your commentating makes the game sound so exciting and fun. If laughter is good for the soul, then yours, like warm chicken soup on a cold winter's night. So, i downloaded it and started to play. But there is no benevolent documentarian present, discussing tactics and torpedo spreads, so i get bored and my ship gets blown up. Playing is not as fun as watching in this case. Not to worry thought, I've WOT's on X-Box. On land, much more proficient. I think well made videos, along with insightful and meaningful commentary pertaining to its chosen medium, should be acknowledged and rewarded. You good sir, a consummate pro.
And could you please bottle some of your chuckle and send it to me in NYC, were short on that kinda thing here.
In defence of that battleship you picked on with the Benny Hill theme, he did exactly the right thing. When he turned back, his team on that side was down to two destroyers, one very low health, against 2 cruisers and a BB. He turned back, entirely sensibly, to defend the cap. Then our noble hero finished off all the enemies on that side, so the BB turned back to get back to where the rest of the enemies were. He was useless for most of the match, but only because of an unexpected quadruple kill - and I don't think any of us would expect our teammate to do that well in that scenario.
Yeah I could see exactly what he was thinking...and he was still wrong. As a BB your job is not to re-route your job is to make really loud noises and be a big juicy target and in doing so take the heat off your cruisers and destroyers NOT to attempt to reinforce what looks like a failing flank, you just are not fast enough. Know your limits and stick with the other battleships and/or cruisers and let the destroyers do what they will since you will NEVER be able to keep up with them and any destroyer driver worth anything won't slow down just for you.
That one Wyoming... damn, dude, mad respect for dodging all those torpedoes and bearing down on a destroyer that's been playing havoc with your team. That takes guts, and nerves of steel. If only his fellow battleship had been willing to back him up, that could have really made a difference.

As a frequent Minekaze driver this performance just amazed me. The thing is, he went into danger immediately, did not hang back and wait for the spaces to open up.
At times jingles you can judge people without thinking about how things looks from their point of view. Looked to me like that BB was heading south covering the CVs and heading with the battle flow when he was attacked by Torpedo bombers, he then heads north to cover infidel, likely getting ready to fight the Murmansk then the WY of which both were sunk by the video's hero. He likely started a port turn to bring his guns to bare on the WY and continued his port turn to the point he was behind the islands heading back towards the CVs, hoping to be there to deal with the DD and others that were heading that way. All the while being in a slow ass BB. Now I am not saying the guy is a great player but he was trying to place himself in good positions but the game just did not go his way. You don't know how things were going with that battle he had with the DD, his secondaries may have finished the DD off but who knows how many main gun hits he scored...You may not have done any better against that Nicholas. We all have been in similar battles...cut the guy some slack!! Great battle by infidel...well done!!

Jingles, recently I had a realization about AA guns on DDs and it relates to the Minekaze. If your AA gun range is less than your aerial detection range there is no purpose to turning off your AA guns. If they're close enough to shoot at, they're close enough to spot you. Since you're already spotted the increased detection range of the AA guns doesn't matter.

There's no purpose to shutting the AA guns off. Same holds true for other IJN DDs as well. Russian and American DDs, yeah, AA range is over aerial detection range and toggling AA makes sense.
One less button to remember to press and your AA effects your "spotted" status for 20 seconds after last MG round is fired...
According to the WoWs Wiki, Battle Mechanics page, AA guns only increase detection range when they are firing. As soon as they stop the detection range drops. So the only time where having the AA guns on for the IJN DDs where AA range =< Aerial detection range would cause a problem is for the few % you get from camo/commander skills. And for those ~200ish meters I argue that if a plane is that close, chances are they're going to stray over those 200 meters anyway.

Thanks to your WOT videos I finally started playing WOT again and did my first 'carry to victory.' 6 kills and 4-to-1 at the end. They did all the wrong things by coming at me 1v1. Or looking the wrong way. Or whatever other dumb thing and I just kept cool and used the strategies I've seen on your channel.
I cant sleep so I'm watching this. Good way to start the day.

WOW! I forgot how much better the torpedo launch arcs are for the Fujin/Kamikaze! And the guns are setup better with 3 turning forward of the ship, and just 1 rearward.

that last wyoming acculy did do exactly what he had to do to win.
he had to hope that his team mate could kill infidel to stop him from caping, and break off to go the the north cap and hope that the CV would be stupid enough to stray into detection range so he could kill it or get into the cap with just barely enough time to cap the base, because at the end their they did not have enough points to win by just killing infidel and did not have enough time to get from their cap to infidels much less cap aswell.
18:45 (Red Wyoming): I bet he thought he could surprise the Minekaze by going around the island while the other Wyoming kept 33infidel busy. So he made a big turn to port to do so. In a tier IV American battleship. Had he turned to starboard he might've given the other BB some supporting fire, but... no.
Perhaps he thought that since the Wyoming is more maneuverable than a South Carolina, he could make it in time... but then, a washing machine is more maneuverable than a South Carolina.

CV might have assumed that Minekaze was trying to cap and tried to distract the BB. I had one ranked match where I was desperate enough to score a secondary batteries kill on the enemy CV as a Ryujo and attempted to ram the last remaining enemy BB.
I failed miserably at the last thing, but I soaked a few broadside and gave our New York some breathing space to eventually punch his ticket.
I'll never get DD's ... this guy was awesome. No way in heck that I'd ever be able to pull off that kind of performance in my Minekazie.

I finally got this game the other night thinking that I've watched uncle jingles play it so much I should slot in fairly easily and start kicking arses.
Well, no. This game is terribly difficult to play. I go into panic mode way too often, either start focusing too much on gunnery or navigation and end up getting sank.
I did destroy a ship with one salvo though, that was nice and I got a ramming kill in my first game.
You could probably see those destroyers with your naked eye when they are that close in real life. Wargaming makes another magical invisible enemy game.
I just love the dirty laugh that Jingles has.
I think the most impressive portion were the kills early on of the Kuma and the Murmansk. Sinking basically full health cruisers in a DD is no easy task. Not sure who was worse...the friendly NY BB or the enemy Wyoming BB...and what the heck was the friendly CA thinking by sailing south with no planes? His team was ahead on points so if the WY killed the Minekaze....he could try to hide until time ran out...lots of bad game play, but the Minekaze was AWESOME.

4:19 Yes, that is most definitely a tier 4 American battleship that the Russians definitely stole and named the Murmansk. No way that's just the tier 5 premium cruiser Murmansk, and Jingles is blind as a bat. That's just not possible.

I would assume that friendly battleship was looking at the map and trying to react to the threat that was rising on the side where Infidel was, considering that he started turning right about when two friendly destroyers got annihilated, but the way he just stopped on the other side of the island after completing the loop says against such assumptions...

You're not THAT fair to the BB player. He obviously changed course to help out on the side were Infidel went...which was nice, because there was quite a threat of fast ships and by the time he had turned Infidel had already slaughtered all of them.
Don't blame BB players if they just can't react that fast. In games when players are that incompetent to die THAT fast there's no way to have a good game in a slow BB.
Great run there, he can in fact tell which torpedo bombers are active in the CV phase...he was facing 1 U.S and one Jap carrier and and the U.S ones have 6 aircraft and not 4! :)

jeah i know this vid is pretty old and probably nobody is going to read this, but mingels made a mistake at 13:24 by saying that the minekaze couldnt tell wich aircraft are from wich carrier. Yes he could have known by simply counting the aircraft. As a reminder: japanese carriers have 4-airplane-squadrons while USN carriers have squadrons with 6.

I wonder if he knows that being air spotted means your torps get seen at launch. He is one hell of a player, but he did that twice, where the enemy ship could see his torps the moment the launched and so had tons of time to dodge. Again, otherwise very well played!

I'd compare this destroyer's efforts to being akin to the Battle off Samar, but that just doesn't cut it.
This is more like the HMS Thunderchild from The War of the Worlds taking on the Martians, but winning in a curb-stomp battle instead of losing.

Jingles, to be fair that izokaze and nicholas contributed to 3-4 of his kills. The izokaze drew that force up, in particular the bogatyr and tenryu. His failed torps had the bogatyr thinking all is safe and the tenryu would probably have not sailed that close to the corner if there were more than just 1 DD seen. Granted the tenryu was dumb continuing his turn to port....
Remove the nicholas and all that fire that killed him would have been raining on the minekaze. The murmansk would have only had to avoid just the minekaze's torpedoes and the hunt would have been on. I do not think that would have been a win without those 2 meatshields.

He was damn lucky at some times, but still played well. Minekaze is one of my favourite destroyers, so much better than the Mutsuki (which used to be a Tier 6 ship back then, I'm glad they changed that to Tier 5 and gave me the Fubuki instead)

Im right there with you Jingles, there are no words to discribe the about if wrong that was made by both teams. Infidel is quite possibly the best of the best.
I've myself seen an Izyaslav credited of nine kills. I was in a Nicolai BB and I was the only other guy on this team to sink the two other ships and I had a crappy game not paying attention, was a little tired. There was obviously one enemy survivor, That was a great defeat on behalf of this Izyaslav, although some of the ships he sunk were already slightly damaged by me or other teammates.
