Bravo for calling her out for the claim that Officer Sicknick's death was unrelated to Jan 6th. Simple common sense would lead someone to conclude that having gone through such an ordeal the previous day would have influenced such a severe (and rare for a 42 year old) medical event. In fact, Sicknick initially collapsed around 10pm the evening of the 6th, so the medical event began the very same day. He'd been pepper sprayed twice during the seige, among the various other acute stressors he surely experienced.
On the officer that died from a stroke, he was hit with a fire extinguisher which may have caused a brain bleed that would later be called a stroke. As a student nurse I saw this on a guy who was hit by a golf ball and was later diagnosed with a stroke.

I absolutely LOVE that he offered her the opportunity for her to prove her ridiculous claim, and I've always wondered why we don't do that constantly. I've seen dozens of interviews with Trump supporters that firmly believe that blue states allow post-birth abortions. BEG them to prove it. It's such an easy way to force them to actually question the validity of their claim. Please do that so much more.
But they firmly believe, in that alternate reality they live in, that they don’t have to prove that blue states allow post-birth abortion; you have to prove they don’t. Just like they didn’t have to prove Obama was born in Kenya; he had to prove he wasn’t. They didn’t have to prove that Dems stole the 2020 election; Dems had to prove they didn’t. And now in red states, they don’t have to prove that tragic miscarriages were really abortions; traumatized women have to prove they weren’t!

Tomi Lahren is essentially an attention-seeker, like so many in Congress and in the right wing punditry. She has zero credentials to be given the platform she's been given, but hey...15 minutes of fame, and all that. And she spouts a line--like they all do--that smacks of "I'm out of ideas on how to defend Donald" desperation: "January 6 is in the past! You Democrats are fixated on the past! Move on! Get over it!" I'm sure she'd feel the same way if there were a family member of hers murdered, and the perp was brought to trial a few years later. The defense attorney could ask, "Why is the family so upset? This was in the past!" Or perhaps the judges and attorneys at the Nurnberg Trials could be accused of dwelling in the past. "Get over it! It's time to move on from what these Nazis did! Killing 6 million Jews is so...yesterday!" And Tim Miller's comment that her show is called "Fearless" being the very definition of irony is spot on. If she (or any of the GOP) were actually "fearless," they'd unseal their lips from Donald's butt and tell the truth about him. Just once.
Not very skilled at all… In speech. She is somewhat easy on the eyes, but she doesn’t answer questions with specifics and most of the time deflects… Standard Republican responses.
"Being pro-Police" is not the same thing as _unconditionally supporting everything every police officer does_ In the same way, "being patriotic" isn't necessarily inconsistent with kneeling for the national anthem. You can do both. But the one-track Right Wing mind is too simplistic to cope with the idea, just as they can't reconcile "being gay" with "being a Christian" - it's just too much for them.
Also, to point out what should be obvious, but often isn't, you can either be pro-police, or a "small-government" conservative, not both. The right loves to talk about how "small government" they are but somehow manage to convince themselves that licking cop boot is consistent with that philosophy. Cops are not only government, they represent literally the most intrusive power that a government has over its citizens. Being skeptical of the police is a good thing.
I love how Lahren tried to make it seem like a bad thing that Harris talked about re-imagining the police. What Harris meant was that police in a lot of places receive excess funding and have to deal with a lot of issues that are not their job, like mental health issues. That excess funding needs to be redirected to more appropriate services like counseling. So yeah, that's absolutely right, most Americans want this kind of reform and it's good reform.
Those services should still be apart of police departments and work with armed officers. Too many times officers have been ambushed so an unarmed counselor stands no chance if the person wants to do them harm.
I was a bit frustrated that Tim did not address this - but he knows conservatives and I'm guessing he thinks that pushing back on this point would not have yielded any benefits in terms of persuading the audience.
@@cadennorris960 Mental health services are arms length organisations that provide support and care therefore not part of the police service. So, these counselors aren't on the front line.
The other people who were just at the Capitol would still be guilty of trespassing, Tomi. When a location is closed off to the public and said public enters or breaks in, then that's trespassing. Just because you aren't damaging property or stealing anything, that doesn't mean you aren't breaking a law. That shouldn't be difficult to understand.

Dear Brian, I hope you'll read this: last night Trump announced that he would flee to Venezuela in the election if he lost. This heralds his current reactions: he has known since the very beginning of the campaign that there would be an American rebellion during the elections or after the Democratic victory, which would lead to civil war. That's what Putin wants, and so does Trump. Look at him rebelling, shouting more and more, he's in total delight because he's manipulated this whole thing since the very beginning of the election campaign. The more I watch Tim Miller, the more impressed I am. Very bright and sees strategy and facts clearly and gets the big picture. He really uses his experience and intelligence to provide very insightful observations. He is also able to use humour to illustrate the Trump GOP insanity.

Simple common sense would lead someone to conclude that having gone through such an ordeal the previous day would have influenced such a severe (and rare for a 42 year old) medical event. In fact, Sicknick initially collapsed around 10pm the evening of the 6th, so the medical event began the very same day. He'd been pepper sprayed twice during the seige, among the various other acute stressors he surely experienced.

In the same way, "being patriotic" isn't necessarily inconsistent with kneeling for the national anthem. You can do both. But the one-track Right Wing mind is too simplistic to cope with the idea, just as they can't reconcile "being gay" with "being a Christian" - it's just too much for them.
Also, to point out what should be obvious, but often isn't, you can either be pro-police, or a "small-government" conservative, not both. The right loves to talk about how "small government" they are but somehow manage to convince themselves that licking cop boot is consistent with that philosophy. Cops are not only government, they represent literally the most intrusive power that a government has over its citizens. Being skeptical of the police is a good thing.
I love how Lahren tried to make it seem like a bad thing that Harris talked about re-imagining the police. What Harris meant was that police in a lot of places receive excess funding and have to deal with a lot of issues that are not their job, like mental health issues. That excess funding needs to be redirected to more appropriate services like counseling. So yeah, that's absolutely right, most Americans want this kind of reform and it's good reform.
Those services should still be apart of police departments and work with armed officers. Too many times officers have been ambushed so an unarmed counselor stands no chance if the person wants to do them harm.
I was a bit frustrated that Tim did not address this - but he knows conservatives and I'm guessing he thinks that pushing back on this point would not have yielded any benefits in terms of persuading the audience.

The more I watch Tim Miller, the more impressed I am. Very bright and sees strategy and facts clearly and gets the big picture. He really uses his experience and intelligence to provide very insightful observations. He is also able to use humour to illustrate the Trump GOP insanity.
Agreed. If you haven’t read it yet, his book, “Why We Did It” is a very interesting and humorous read about his experiences running various Republican campaigns until MAGA infected everything.
