    Because of your video I looked for and found an OBD memory saver cord with a USB to plug into my portable jumpstarter battery. Makes this old lady feel good when she can do some repairs herself. Thanks for your very helpful video.

    I just got done installing a bigger battery in my 2008 Honda Fit. I got the NAPA "THE LEGEND PREMIUM" 740 CA/590 CCA. H: 6.75". W: 6.75". L: 9". BCI # 96R, NAPA # 8496R. I have it running lengthwise from the fuse box to the air cleaner. It fits perfect! Nice and snug! This is the direct fit battery that Napa had installed in my 2005 Mustang 4.0L

    Thanks for the video! Very helpful. :) I have a question. At 1:23 you can see a white plastic cover on/above the nut. How do you take that white plastic off? Do you use a 10mm socket with the extension, directly on the plastic?

    •  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How did you finally remove it? Did you use a socket?

      I think my friend helped pry it off with a flathead screwdriver.

    Anyone asking the little white clip on there just twists off , wiggle it from side to side & put a little pressure to take it off

    I also have a 2017 Fit. Any thoughts on replacing the 151R battery with the larger and more powerful 51R? The battery tray looks like it will accept the larger 51R and they are much less expensive. A 151R at Advance is $215 while a 51R at Walmart is $100 for the 'Plus' and $150 for the 'Maxx.'

    good video. question if I may...
    which memory card reader did you use for this specific video? do you have a link? would any normal reader with a cigarette lighter be compatible to the JNC power supply you have in this video? I just want to be sure to buy the right one. thanks.

    • @RoysGarage808
      @RoysGarage808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The “cigarette lighter” adapter cord actually came with the battery pack. If anything, the part store you buy it from should be able to provide the correct one fore you, one side is the “cigarette lighter” and the other goes to the OBDII under the dash. There was no memory card reader for the battery pack, it just keeps 12v running through your car to preserve your car’s ECU (computer system) memory. I bought mines at the parts store but I’ve also seen it being sold online (i.e. Amazon). I hope that answered your question and I hope you have a happy new year 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

    I use those battery jumpers at my job all the time.I have one in my current car, too. they're awesome, and work great too

    Thanks roy! I don't have a jumper pack, and they're a bit out of my price range. Is there anything bad that can happen if I don't use it, other than losing my radio presets/having to reset the clock afterwards?

    • @RoysGarage808
      @RoysGarage808  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, I’ve come across some cars that had issues idling after. Now days the cars have so much electrical components, sometimes you just can’t help it (I.e. having to disconnect the battery to change out the starter or alternator, etc.) but it’s best to use a jumper pack. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

      @@RoysGarage808 Hi Roy, I have a 2012 Honda Fit base manual model. Do I need the OBD jumper pack? I am totally fine losing the 6 radio stations, I can store. Other than that, I have no idea what can be lost in this car.

    • @DeeEeeEffGee

      @@boreduser12 I have the exact same model(manual '12 Fit), and did everything here but without the OBD memory saver. Worked perfectly! The only thing to look for is the radio code(should be on a sticker on the outside left of your glove box when you open it) to make sure you can still use your radio afterwards. I also lost my approx mpg on the current drive but that's almost never been accurate so it wasn't a concern. Cheers!

    Bleep the radio memory. Just reset the stations. I am somewhat concerned about the car's 'puter. I am dealing with a medical issue, the Fit's been sitting idle for 9 months. Deader than Elvis. I thought I could just pop in a replacement 151r and, good to go. What's the consequence of the computer, I'm assuming, going powerless and what's my steps to resume past swapping it out?

    myhonda fit jazz always dead battery.. im planning to use a jumper starter for the car? is it good or bad for the car? we have a very cold weather here in london

    • @RoysGarage808
      @RoysGarage808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's nothing wrong with using a jumper pack to jump start your car, it's best to use a jumper pack in this situation instead of another car to prevent a possible (not definite but possible) power surge from the other car that could burn out your ECU.
      Also if your battery fairly new and is always dead, you should take it in to get it check because it is an indication that there is some sort of drain on your battery. I hope that helps, thanks for watching!

      EDIT: I’ve never tried jump starting a Honda hybrid but I know on a Toyota there’s a small 12v battery in the trunk that you can use to jump start the hybrid cars BUT that battery has to be good in order you jump start it. Hope that helps, thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
