I'm just voting for Matterport. It's just easier. Sure there are limitations to the system (nadar, editing) but it's much less work than other plattforms, where you need to stitch all Pano-shots by yourself. and so: The price is lower because you need less time to build a tour.
@@pillowg1rl building the tour yourself will take you around 2-3 hours. It is most definitely not worth paying hundreds of dollars every year to save 2-3 hrs per tour.

Hi @Ben Claremont I’ve been using Matterport for about a year now and we started with the basic 360 cams then purchased their Matterport Pro 2 camera. I just wanted to put out there a couple thoughts for you and those who watch this video. 1) Most of the cons (aside from price) that you listed with the Matterport platform (curved walls, etc.) are corrected with the Pro 2. The Pro 2 has LiDAR built in to measure the spaces as you capture it. The basic 360 cams do not have the same features and therefore have the issues you mentioned. 2) while yes, it is recommended that you take shots every 5-8 feet and must maintain line of sight with the previous shot, once you’ve captured the space with the Pro 2 or a 360 cam in the app, you just upload to the Matterport cloud which then does all of the editing for you as part of your subscription. You don’t have to do any of the 3D editing you mentioned. 3) Matterport has a built in suite of editing tools built into the Matterport cloud software. While it doesn’t let you recolor photos or things like that (that is often corrected by using additional lighting while capturing) it does let you do a number of other things like his scan points, take still photos to use elsewhere (like a Facebook promo for your project, etc.) they are also continually developing the editing suite. One of the features to come is a blurring tool that will allow you to blur anything captured in your shots that shouldn’t be visible by just anyone. 4) you can measure things in rooms and generate sketches from the Matterport platform, but for these features to work, you must have the Pro cam. While the Metareal pricing is very attractive, the Matterport software is very robust and does offer a lot of perks for its cost (especially when paired with a Pro cam.) I could say more, but I hope that is all helpful. In full transparency, we have used other 3D/360 platforms and cams in the past and found Matterport to be the best. Thanks for the comparison!
12:00 "Metareal will make the tour for you whereas with Matterport, you have to do it yourself." I'm not sure what you are talking about here. With Matterport, I just take the pictures and upload them. Matterport stitches everything together on their server and just tells me when it is done. But still looks great!! Thanks for sharing this option.
@@vonnearnelgonce6523 - yeah, but the video is pushing the fact they will create them for you. If they create them for you, it is stupid expensive compared to Matterport. If they dont create them for you, then its no different than any other software.
Jon Lucas well I think it comes to how many you are doing per month and whether they are virtual tours for companies that will stay up for a long time taking up a slot vs real estate that turns over. All those things make a difference in what you need out of a platform.
Love Matterport, it WORKS WELL!!! no issues and is spotless to use for a noob! like me. I jumped on Metareal and looked at a couple of their demos, they were very flakey and would often not click the direction I clicked if the camera was naturally moving slowly left or right.. The Doll house feature did not appear on a few of them and when it appeared on 1, outside the dollhouse was the interiors wrapped as a background, I assume thats a bug. So Right off the bat I could not get the same experience at Matterport which as I said was seamless on small and large settings equally. Yes I agree price is better and I like the idea of uploading and having them do the virtual tour for me, pretty cool. I think it is just development time, hopefully in 12 months they are smooth like matterport, and then you have a clear winner.
O... M... G!!! What an INCREDIBLE post Ben!!! I can't tell you how ecstatic I am to see this. I've been scouting endlessly for an alternative to the famous Matterport dollhouse. I can't stand Matterport... between their inflated subscription prices, closed ended editing process, and mediocre 3D tour quality (I shoot DSLR's), the only thing they had really going for them was that freaking dollhouse! They're also notorious for trying to poach clients away from their subscribers. I've been trying to avoid them like the plague, but they're just so ingrained in the real estate market and their 3D scanning (dollhouse) feature is pretty cool and often asked for. I'm signing up and trying this out today and I hope this software gains some traction!
Hi Ben, thanks for pointing out this alternative. Two things I don't get: 1. "Do it for me" - Matterport does everything automatically, doesn't it? What is the advantage here? 2. Haven't you been promoting cupix as the best Matterport alternative? My issue with Matterport is not the pricing. It is the lack of control, being forced to shoot through the Matterport app in automatic mode, no HDR-DNGs, no manual correction of bad connections, etc. Cubix looks the most promising (according to you) if I want higher image quality and better control, while still creating a proper virtual model. Does that still hold up? I am lot looking for a CHEAPER Matterport, I am looking for a BETTER one. Any thoughts?
Hi Ben, i have been following you for a long time. I really want to start making 360° tours for businesses. All I really need is an overview of the ways business owners can integrate the tour into their website. There are many different ways. But which are the easiest to build? Fastest to sell? Best to show potential clients? Making the tour is just the start!
Thanks for sharing Ben! The Metareal dollhouse blows MP away, and that alone sells me! Then add the floor plans and the inexpensive "built it for you" options and I'm sold! I still prefer the way 3D tours look vs. the 360 degree static image, but I'm certainly going to give Metareal a try with a real estate shoot today! BTW, you treat yourself well with those accommodations! :p
Thank you for this review of Metareal. As a real estate agent, I have only used Matterport for higher-end listings due to the cost. I now have a 360 camera (Insta360 One X)and was hoping to find a way to do these tours myself. I will definitely check out Metareal. Thank you for all the videos you do.
Were you able to get this to work? Metareal won't process my Insta360 One X photos... saying the double fish eye photos need to be converted to a panorama
If the folks at Matterport had any idea of how much more Camera units they could sell if they allowed people to own their tours! Maybe everyone on here would buy one! Hopefully this will change soon! I cancelled my Matterport camera order because of this!
Great video again Ben. BUT EyeSpy360 also has a Do It For You Option to create a dollhouse and floorplan - and it's cheaper at $1 per photo. It's $20 / month plus $15 month for up to 15 photos to create the tour, floorplan and dollhouse for you. And then you can add text, photo and video hotspots, etc.I haven't used them yet, but am considering it for the 3 properties I need to shoot next week. My hesitation is depending on someone else to get it done quickly and that they only host real estate tours. I'm looking to create tours of outdoor spaces lie local parks. So I'm waffling a bit.
It's cheaper to build EyeSpy360 tours because they aren't really 3D. If you compare this EyeSpy360 tour, for example: www.eyespy360.com/en-us/feature/EyeSpyPLAN.html and one of our tours here: www.metareal.com/gallery/, you'll see EyeSpy360 doesn't have 3D navigation or real 3D models. So it takes a bit more effort to build Metareal tours, because we're actually 3D, thus the higher cost per pano.
Thank you Ben. We're adding 360 to our real estate business. This is helpful. Your background music is awesome. I know you shared you got it from epidemic sound. Great Video Ben, I just bought my first 360 cameria. How do you charge businesses if you have to keep their tours online for years? Do you charge them a yearly fee?
It really depends on the client ; I usually recommend most of our customers to charge atleast 20-100$ as hosting fees if they are long term customer like muesuems etc. but with real estate there is high churn.
Thank you so much for sharing the info with us. Can we build ourselves? Which camera did you use?. Can we use any 360 camera ? By the way, Your work looks great.
Hi Ben, I realize this video is 3 yrs old so I was wondering if you think Metareal is the best route to go? I like the floor plan, virtual walkthrough and doll house effect. Thank you
I tried this out... I love the concept but I had SO many issues trying to align multiple panoramas (and objects) in an open-concept plan. I'm tempted to pay the fee (not crazy expensive but not cheap either) just to see if they would be able to make it work. There's a lot of potential here... but only if you have the margin to pay them to make the plan for you. Hopefully they'll get better... That said, excellent video and I appreciate you putting the spotlight on them!
Calculate the cost of Metareal servicers into the price to your customer based on the number oif rooms. That way the client pays for this instead of you giving up your profit margin.
Metareal looks great. Awesome idea to provide a Build For Me option. However, their popularity exploded and I am still waiting after submitting a build request on August 16/20. This comment submitted October 21/20. Still enthusiastic, but nervous about their backorder situation. They are staffing-up enormously -- (they mention this video, as a turning point to them falling way behind the surge in demand). Your influence is rightly huge.
Ben, As always, great videos. You mentioned that Metareal will charge you if you have them adjust/edit pictures and create the tour. At the time of making this video, what were those charges? I must have missed it if you already mentioned it.
TY for posting this, Ben! Stubbled across your channel a few months ago and you consistently post quality content! Finding it a really helpful resource as I grow my fledgling business.
thank you ! Just what I was looking for!!! I was on the fence after using the free version of theasys (before they went paid), but need streetview and now there's Metareal! Great! Great timing Ben!
f1pitpass, what is the benefit of uploading my RE Tours to Google Street View - does that mean my local area Google map will be populated with icon links to my tours? If so that could be good for advertising, but it could also mean I crowd the local map with all my tours - if Google allows that...
Another amazing video Ben. I tried Metareal when it first came out, and didn't go any further because as you said, for commercial tours the hotspots just weren't good enough. I am doing more real estate tours now, so I am definitely going to be looking into this again!! Hope you're keeping well. 👍
Cheers Nick, yeah they’ve come a long way! Would definitely suggest giving it another go. Although yeah it’s hard to switch from 3DVista when it’s so good :)

Excellent! This is great news, Matterport’s pricing along with their list of acceptable cameras made it totally unrealistic for me. Thanks for the heads up and the comprehensive comparison.
Hi! First thanks for your video, is really amazing what you have just shown! I can't wait to try Metareal! May I ask you something, please? Is it possible to add pictures and 3D models (link from sketchfab) in the main tour?
Nice video, Ben. One thing that I think you’ve missed and it’s relatively recent, is that Matterport does allow you to archive spaces, so that they can be parked offline and re-activated at a later date. This is important for users such as ourselves who use Matterport for dilapidation and building condition surveys where clients want the ability to revisit the space a year or two later.
Thanks Dave! Although I think I did mention this, in the form of ‘active spaces’ where you have to take one offline to free up space to upload another. They can be brought back later, but at the cost of another tour, as you know.
Great video! As a photographer and a filmmaker I've pondered about getting a 360 camera and your videos have got me thinking joining the real estate business (in creating these virtual tours - not selling houses myself). One quick note: You should get a pop-filter for your mic or re-position your mic so that your P's etc doesn't pop that much in the audio track. Hurts my ears a bit to listen to you now and then.
What is the best 360 camera for Metareal taking resolution and dynamic range / hdr into consideration. If you do a tour with just 10 images does this mean you have only 10 spots to step on to? That's not plenty is it. In my opinion the 360 images in the middle of the room distort the most so you should probably have spots near the walls and doorway as well. How far are we from being able to move in the 3d model which ever spot or corner you wish to go to?
Hi everybody, thank you for this nice compairson. I am missing one Feature on Matterport that looks pretty standart to me but you didn´t even mention it: Expanding the model later on. In the Real Estate Business the scan might be a quick thing: Create it, upload it, sell the house, that´s it. But that´s not what I am using it for. Imagine a Restaurant that does not really change the whole view. But then they change some tables, paint a wall or places some new plants in the garden. Maybe they want to show winter-scans from the outside part in winter but don´t want to scan the complete building only for adding two winter-panoramas. Or imagine they add a new room which was not used before. All of that stuff. On Matterport I have to duplicate the whole tour and then to re-upload it. But ... all the tour-stuff is deleted. Any notes, any other content, all is lost as it is created as a complete new tour. And this really sucks. In the moment I start to create individuel stuff like hotspots or Tags or anything, the whole modell has to stay fixed. And if I really need to add or update a new room, every workd I did on the modell is lost. Seems pretty important to me, don´t you think? ;) All the best, Julian!
Hi Julian, yes absolutely that’s a valid point. In my opinion that is covered under #4 in this video: manual upload/download, which would allow you to do exactly what you’re describing. Shame it’s not easy, maybe they will change that in the future 👍
@@BenClaremont I just realized I wrote this comment on the wrong video. I wanted to post it on the compairson of different Alternatives where you come to the conclusion Matterport is "Matterport", but I accidentially had the other tab open and posted it here.

I have question i want to start using metaport but not sure how real estate agent can use this tour on his website and how it is possible? also is this storage like 500gb is for whole time of subscription or renew every year or any time? Thanks
@BenClaremont Thabk you 🙏 So the storage stays the same all the time? 100 tours in 500g if you use that can you add more? This part i can get it, unfortunately, and I couldn't find anything on they web :( Also, thanks to you, I both insta 360 1 inch :) is it compatible with metareal. It's not on the list, but z1 is. Sorry to bother you, but I prefer info from a reliable source:) Thank you again
Hi Ben, Would you have any suggestions for a tripod for a Matterport Pro2 camera? I know they have two suggestions on their website, I am looking for the best of the best. Thanks for any time dedicated to this! :)
Seems great. Just wish it was as quick and easy as matterport. Much more work involved. Hitting the upload button in matterport and forgetting about it is still a massive pro.
Vertical Media I believe having them do the tour for you for such small fee, beats the hefty monthly fee from MP... just saying...the quality of the dollhouse is far superior to that one from MP, my totally unbiased opinion after seeing them side by side on the video...
One Matterport space could be massive. If you did a huge capture one upload is 1 space for Matterport. If you cross reference that cost with Metareal = higher storage need it would be great to see the comparable. Also, the new vibe also comes with risks as they can change costs and features as they monetize & scale. New platforms have to challenge the main players to build a base. At the beginning Matterport were the same. Interesting how this evolves and plays out.

Ben, How does Metareal stack up against your previous video on the Best Vitual Tour SW, specifically 3DVista and Kuula? Those were the two I felt best all around... as a Non-User currently. I’d like to see these compared too.
Ben, as always you have nailed it once more with this video, now, you mentioned that when using metareal it is enough with one 360 shot per room, but , for the purpose of a client walkthrough, for him/her to be able to be able to “walk” more inside the space, would you recommend shooting as many as you want for them to be able to reach more areas within the same space? If that makes sense...
Mr. Ben - well done again! I've been going the opposite direction with 360 lately (been doing immersive nature films) but you've made me want to give this a look. Cheers Mate!
Hi Ben, great video! what is the best (user friendly + image quality) 360 camera on the market today specially for property virtual tours and that can easily be used with Metareal? cheers!

I was sad at how proving tours for clients as a value add or special upgrade was so cumbersome to output, to make viable. It seems, and thank you for the hot tips, Metareal has solved all of my problems. Now I have a true leg up... I should get another intern!!
I have a one R and was wondering if you had any tips/issues with the insv file format in Metareal? Their site says jpeg format and I am curious if you had to do some additional workflow to get them to upload?

This is also my question. Can I use my Trisio lite for Metareal?
Can you make a comparison video on what is the best 360 virtual tour software for VR please Ben.
Bro thanx a lot again and again. You just doing a great job. You have no idea how helpful your content is!
Great review mate. I will take your advice.
Dang that was a no stone unturned comparison Ben, awesome and thank you. Competition is welcomed.
Hi Ben, I realize this video is 3 yrs old so I was wondering if you think Metareal is the best route to go? I like the floor plan, virtual walkthrough and doll house effect. Thank you
Hi Cory- check out my more recent comparison video ‘Matterport vs. Matterport Alternatives’
AMAZING NEWS ! THANKS Ben !
Excellent review - you put so much work into them and it really shows - well done :)
Glad you like them!
Thanks for Sharing Ben. I am having fun attempting to build the tours 3d objects.
Great video, as ever! Thank you. What 360 camera were you using for your sweet suite shoot? Impressive work of the colours.
Thanks- Theta Z1
Ben Claremont Thanks for advising. Appreciate it.
I have tried it. Loading models was a bit slow, but of all tasks necessary, creating a floor line in a room full of furniture was a bit tricky.
FANTASTIC, thank you Ben!
Thanks Ben!
Ben, As always, great videos. You mentioned that Metareal will charge you if you have them adjust/edit pictures and create the tour. At the time of making this video, what were those charges? I must have missed it if you already mentioned it.
How can you see this video when i haven't posted it yet? lol
it's 3 - 4 CDN$ (depends on your plan) per pano, according to their website's pricing, as of right now

@@BenClaremont Sorry, Ben. I meant 'Great Video', but seeing as I enjoy watching all of your videos, 'Great videos' would also seem appropriate.
TY for posting this, Ben! Stubbled across your channel a few months ago and you consistently post quality content! Finding it a really helpful resource as I grow my fledgling business.
Glad to hear!
Thx for sharing. Which one do you use 4 your jobs? Cupix Matterport or Metareal? Which would you recommend?
Nice review, thank you. Which cam does you used for the 360 Photos in your Suite examples?

thank you ! Just what I was looking for!!! I was on the fence after using the free version of theasys (before they went paid), but need streetview and now there's Metareal! Great! Great timing Ben!
My pleasure 😇
f1pitpass, what is the benefit of uploading my RE Tours to Google Street View - does that mean my local area Google map will be populated with icon links to my tours? If so that could be good for advertising, but it could also mean I crowd the local map with all my tours - if Google allows that...
@@RobertWhitfield biggest benefit as I see it, is that becoming a 'trusted photographer', for Google, adds credibility to your CV.
@@BenClaremont It's going to be interesting to see what 3D Vista do with the whole dollshouse thing. 👍
We've done some updates on our labels. Would recommend giving this tour a look so you can see what you can do with them now: tour.metareal.com/apps/player?asset=01623869-8922-45d7-b1d7-adcaf8ce78bf
Awesome video. One very BIG request for you. Please more dad jokes like at 7:18. I feel like it is time. You are really good at 'capturing' the right time to insert them.
Don’t you worry, I’m only getting older and more dad-like!
@@BenClaremont I''m rapidly heading to 40 and looking to integrate some of these Dad traits into my daily life th-cam.com/video/7d6NmnUYXIA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks Ben, I waiting for your answer. please let me know which software allows to download the 3D model of the doll house?
Thanks! To be honest, I’m not sure
@@BenClaremont Okay. BTW is it possible to download a model in EG OBJ format with Metareal?
Love your 4k Videos way better than most of the rest of tutorials out there, great work, no more matterport fees.. yeah..
Thanks Ben for great video. How did you block out camera in the mirror in bathroom?
This was a giant commercial and I loved it. This could be something new for me to offer with my ONE X to add onto my Real Estate videography business.
Not a commercial, but glad to hear it 👍
Ben Claremont didn’t mean it as a negative comment. I love all of your videos and humor!
Looks promising. Thanks for the update! 🤙
Hi everybody,
thank you for this nice compairson.
Seems pretty important to me, don´t you think?
;)
All the best, Julian!
@@NLPDeutschland that’s ok, I responded as if you were commenting on that one 😁
Hi Ben
Been following you for some time now and i have to say great content and so helpful. Thanks for your work. I have question i want to start using metaport but not sure how real estate agent can use this tour on his website and how it is possible? also is this storage like 500gb is for whole time of subscription or renew every year or any time? Thanks
Hey- it’s a monthly or yearly subscription which renews. Same storage space.
@BenClaremont Thabk you 🙏
So the storage stays the same all the time? 100 tours in 500g if you use that can you add more? This part i can get it, unfortunately, and I couldn't find anything on they web :(
Also, thanks to you, I both insta 360 1 inch :) is it compatible with metareal.
Ben, excellent video, thanks. But I didn't catch how they can detect where to put my panoramas in the right positions?
Tell us what platform to use to build tours for detached houses, where there is a garden, outdoor pool, etc.? And how it might look
Hello Ben, thank you for all the knowledge you're sharing!
I am just now starting my 360 journey.
Just got a Z1 and am going to buy a monopod now.
I was looking for ways to buy something good that is not as expensive as the BUSHMAN or BEST360
Would you say that the 3 Legged Thing from Trent
or
Manfrotto Compact Extreme 2-in-1 Monopod & Pole + a JOBY would do the job?
Many thanks
Great news and thanks for the update !
Yet another great informative video.
QUESTION - how do these work for buildings/businesses/suites that have more than 2 floors?
Hi, I'm thinking to start with 360 Product Photography. Is Metareal a good choice for this ? or exist another more specific software to products? Thank you.
I used Metareal in beta and it was pretty great, just two 360 photos of a room were enough to create a nice model.
Do you just set the 360 camera in the middle of the room?
Very awesome thank you for this
Ben, How does Metareal stack up against your previous video on the Best Vitual Tour SW, specifically 3DVista and Kuula?
🍻
Hi Ben, great video! what is the best (user friendly + image quality) 360 camera on the market today specially for property virtual tours and that can easily be used with Metareal? cheers!
YEEESSSSS, thanks to our lord and savior Ben for showing us this :D
Use it well, my child.
Thanks for the info. I would suggest maybe invest in a Pop Filter for your mic.
Buenisimo video gracias !!
Oh yay. I upgraded my barely used 360 one x for the way more user friendly one r; it arrives this week.
Thank youuuuu! Been looking for this for ages. Do you have a blog?
I don’t... just my channel here :)
You're right. Matterport does have a reputation. But it's not a good one necessarily.
Thank you for super fine video.
How many pic. was taken for the demo here and what was the cost to get the Company to make the projekt for you?
What is the Price for the complete gear?
Kind regards from
