The other thing is that it looks like they've updated the roads and cleaned up the place just a bit. Especially that section after Al-Moski and into Al-Azhar mosque where you turned around to go back round the other way. Nice! And the entry way / arch into Khan Al-Khaleely, that's new too! Controlled Chaos, is the only way I can describe Cairo traffic. You are an amazing and adventurous lady to drive in that city, let alone on two wheels. while In Egypt on business in 2010, I hired a driver and car to take me from Heliopolis to Cairo daily. The traffic on that main drag between Heliopolis and Cairo was difficult to traverse as well. I was wondering if you could clarify something, do Egyptians have to file an income tax return like we do in April here in Canada and the United States? when I left Cairo in the early sixties with my family, I was not of working age, so I don't know. I know from your videos, that they pay sales taxes in Egypt. With regards to our previous discussion on the new Sphinx Airport, I did a little research. It turns out that the Sphinx airport was originally known as the West Cairo Airport- a military airport- now after they added the Civilian Terminal it is a co-use airfield. it is a joint civilian-military airfield. Much like you would see in many joint US Airports like Phoenix Skyharbour and Niagra Falls International.Anyway, thanks for this impressive view of Cairo and your equally impressive driving skills.
Ok, so I decided to connect TH-cam to my TV so I can get the feeling I am really there with you! And there is no other way that I will be watching your videos anymore! 😂Really, makes me feel I am on those streets❤ I have to admit that I got scared seeing that man almost hit you with his car. For me.. I still am afraid to even cross the streets in Cairo, I hold on my husband and close my eyes I swear, he is leading me... That is insane 😂 I hope you will post a new video today?
Haha, thank you Vera! 🥰 That's awesome watching it on the big screen, I imagine it would really make a difference, especially with a video like this while on the streets! It's pretty crazy driving in Cairo, but especially in local areas like this with lots of markets. Very slow moving, it got pretty hot with the helmet on 😅 And yes I am definitely posting my regular Sunday video today, I always try to upload at 3pm Cairo time for my Sunday uploads, although sometimes I am running a few hours behind. Today's video is about food, and DAMN, it is good. I am now addicted to this place and have already been back a few times since recording 🤣
This is a sensory overload. Almost like a video game. The amount of people outside of a car is so strange to an American living in a rural area in Florida. I got my first car, a Camaro, at age 15 with a learners permit. And there appears to be no road rage? Amazing. 🤩
Haha, oh there's some road rage, but it takes a lot more for it to escalate here than it would in the U.S. Just because of how it is on the daily here 😅
I absolutely loved this video, Gisselle! You do so well to keep us entertained all the way through!! You demonstrate such confidence when blasting your way through the traffic, and your fruity language is always a bonus😄 What a contrast to your last video when you rode through the early morning streets with hardly anyone about. Did you see how close that microbus was to the blue tuk-tuk pick-up at 4:17 ?... and I yelled out when I saw that car coming at you at 20:19 !! I'm sorry your GoPro gave out at the end, but all's well that ends well! I presumed your GoPro was located on your helmet, but when I saw you put on your sunglasses at 6:10 it looked like the camera is situated below the level of your face. So is it fixed around your neck?...just curious!! Thank you for yet another great video, and for all the work you always put in to make your videos so watchable!! 😀William
Lol, my "fruity" language 🤣 Thanks so much William! ❤️🙏 Yes traffic during the weekday is a world apart from a quiet early morning weekend! I thought it would be fun to show that contrast after last Friday's video 😄 Haha, yes traffic in Cairo is always super tight like that, if you leave any space, someone else will take your spot and squeeze in! Actually the blue tuk tuk pick-up made room for me to squeeze through, I was glad he did that 😆 I definitely held my breath with that car at 20:19! Lucky for me Egyptian drivers have quick reflexes 😅 And my camera is actually on my helmet! But it's attached to the bottom of the helmet near the jaw. I actually show it briefly in this video right after I got back from Dubai where I purchased it th-cam.com/video/TposOOSwCD0/w-d-xo.html It's not very good lighting though because it was night 😅
I actually don't think I will like it much, it's not really my style or vibes. However, I do plan on passing through there even though i don't think I will love it 😅
I'm travelling to Cairo in November. Your videos have been very helpful. I'm thinking of doing Cairo 2 days, then 3 days in Luxor. Do you think 2 days is enough to see the major sites in Cairo with Memphis and Saqqara?
Thank you Sam! I personally do not think 2 days is enough...but I suppose it could be, depending on what you want to see and what you are willing to skip in Cairo. You would also just be rushing around sightseeing all day and then not get to experience as much of Cairo life if you try and pack in as much as possible. But again, it all depends on your preference. Memphis and Saqqara (and Darshur) is like a half day trip or even full day trip just by itself. Then in Cairo/Giza you have the Pyramids of Giza, Cairo Museum, NMEC, Khan el-Khalili market, Cairo Citadel, Coptic Cairo, many other mosques and the Old Gates of Cairo in Islamic Cairo...yeah. There's a lot to see. In just 2 days, considering the closing times of many of these places, it's too much to see, and would also be exhausting rushing around. But that's just my opinion.
Girl...... my anxiety level is through the roof. Where are the lanes? I died several times watching this. BTW, Born in Egypt but been in the US for almost 40 years so yeah, can never drive in Egypt nor do I want to. I visit once every decade or two so everything changes by the time I go for a visit. Kudos on your nerves of steel.

@@Gventures But Franco is also easier to read for those who can't read the Arabic letters so it does have its utility, to flat-out reject it seems a bit of a self-righteous attitude, no?

Let me share my opinion about Franco and Arabic with you, since you obviously have no idea but seem to think you are clever and are attempting to jump to conclusions for some unidentified reason. If someone can read and write in Arabic, write in Arabic. For someone who is learning Arabic but can't write in it yet - sure, use Franco. I fall into the latter category. I am learning Arabic but can't write in it yet. But trying to read Franco - especially long sentences - is stupid, if the person who wrote it can write in Arabic, why write in Franco? It's more difficult for Arabic learners like myself to read in Franco. Firstly, because if it is actually just written in Arabic, then I can practice reading Arabic, which is what I would much prefer to do than read Franco. Secondly, if I don't understand, I can use google translate. If it is written in Franco, it's written all crazy because everyone writes in Franco differently, and if I don't know or recognize a word, there is no way to translate that. Make sense? Great.

@@andrewjacobs1055 I dunno, I've never actually stored luggage anywhere, I travel with a 40 liter backpack. But someone that came to Egypt said they kept their stuff at the first place I linked and it was fine. I mean, they are paid for that exact reason. I always keep a small travel lock on my luggage (my backpack) anyway, just for extra security to deter anyone from trying to open it. It's standard practice in Egypt for them to do that, unless you're going to be away for a very long time, you shouldn't have a problem.

Is it good idea to visit the red and the bent pyramids over Giza?
The Red and Bent pyramids are not in Giza, they are very far away in Darshur. The Giza Pyramids are the famous ones and you will have time to visit those 3, but not the other pyramids in Saqqara or Darshur.

I was also just referring to that particular corner where the Uber driver's hate to go, probably because of where most of them are coming from, they are on the opposite side of the street. To get to that corner, they would have to go ALL the way up and around like I did in the video, and with all that traffic, they absolutely refuse. It's just not worth their time.

The area around Al Azhar mosque is lovely n if u walk up a way will come to the old wall at the base of Al Azhar park, if u havent yet, it would be great to see a video of this area. Thanks for another surprise video.
I haven't filmed over there yet, but now that it seems my riding videos are being well -received, I am thinking they might become a regular thing, which will give me plenty of opportunities to record different parts of the city. It's a good suggestion, thanks Judith! 🥰
Look at you riding motorcycle the Egyptian way now! (Baby steps but you really did a good job)

Lol well hey I have been riding here for a few years now. You know I rode from Cairo to Abu Simbel last year right? 😄

That's just part 1, but there are many parts to that ride across Egypt. I also rode to Fayoum, that's another series. Here's part 1: th-cam.com/video/Rednpyaf6LQ/w-d-xo.html
my goodness, you're a pro!! very impressive.
Ahaha. I think it's fun to drive through areas like this, as long as you aren't in a rush.
@@Gventures Only if the weather is nice. LOL. Where you turned to the right, under Al-Azhar bridge into Al-Moski where they sell all the textile rolls, we used to have a store right there. And that took me back! The best thing about that place is the smell of spices in the air. Is the aroma still there? The other thing is that it looks like they've updated the roads and cleaned up the place just a bit. Especially that section after Al-Moski and into Al-Azhar mosque where you turned around to go back round the other way. Nice! And the entry way / arch into Khan Al-Khaleely, that's new too! Thank you for the video! Super cool. Brave woman!
@@Gventures Dad had a Seat Fura. You've seen those small cars, yes? I'm sure they're still on the road given the prices of practically everything let alone vehicles. Anyway, so, when that store I was telling you about was sold to relatives, he went to go visit once. Parked in one of the small spots to the left, under the bridge. After the visit, went to pray at a close by mosque. When he got back the car was gone. Poof, disappeared. LOL. No worries, it was so old, it had about 100k kilometers on it. Which is a lot when they're not highway kilometers. And he got another one. Same everything down to the window crank knobs. But yeah, Al-Moski has a special place in my heart. LOL!!
@@mozedition3339 Lol, that's true. I wear the helmet to record (camera is attached to it), and damn it's hot with that thing on! There's all sorts of smells happening there, but I can't distinctly recall smelling a strong scent of spices in the air. Yeah they just recently cleaned up that area around Khan el-Khalili and Al Azhar Mosque, fixed the fence, and added that archway. It wasn't like that a few years ago.
@@mozedition3339 Definitely see those little cars around 😅But that's one reason I never ride my motorcycle to Khan el-Khalili or any of those markets if I am going to walk around and film - I don't trust my bike being left out there for a second 😆Glad I could bring you back man! ❤

Very slow moving, it got pretty hot with the helmet on 😅
And yes I am definitely posting my regular Sunday video today, I always try to upload at 3pm Cairo time for my Sunday uploads, although sometimes I am running a few hours behind. Today's video is about food, and DAMN, it is good. I am now addicted to this place and have already been back a few times since recording 🤣
@@Gventures I cannot wait then, ❤️❤️BIG LOVE AND SUPPORT ❤️❤️
This is a sensory overload. Almost like a video game. The amount of people outside of a car is so strange to an American living in a rural area in Florida. I got my first car, a Camaro, at age 15 with a learners permit. And there appears to be no road rage? Amazing. 🤩
Haha, oh there's some road rage, but it takes a lot more for it to escalate here than it would in the U.S. Just because of how it is on the daily here 😅
Excellent video keep it up
Thank you!!! I really appreciate it man ❤️🙏
Mango is a must buy in Egypt in summer
I absolutely loved this video, Gisselle! You do so well to keep us entertained all the way through!!
You demonstrate such confidence when blasting your way through the traffic, and your fruity language is always a bonus😄
What a contrast to your last video when you rode through the early morning streets with hardly anyone about.
Yes traffic during the weekday is a world apart from a quiet early morning weekend! I thought it would be fun to show that contrast after last Friday's video 😄
Haha, yes traffic in Cairo is always super tight like that, if you leave any space, someone else will take your spot and squeeze in! Actually the blue tuk tuk pick-up made room for me to squeeze through, I was glad he did that 😆
I definitely held my breath with that car at 20:19! Lucky for me Egyptian drivers have quick reflexes 😅 And my camera is actually on my helmet! But it's attached to the bottom of the helmet near the jaw. I actually show it briefly in this video right after I got back from Dubai where I purchased it th-cam.com/video/TposOOSwCD0/w-d-xo.html
It's not very good lighting though because it was night 😅

Do a tour like these in Alexandria... It will be great in summer 🍹🏄r

@@Gventures I thought you hated Franco? :D
@@Nocturnal-gn4jp I do when someone knows how to write in Arabic but they decide to write in Franco instead. I don't know how to write in Arabic so the only option is Franco. If I knew how to write in Arabic, I would do that
@@Gventures But Franco is also easier to read for those who can't read the Arabic letters so it does have its utility, to flat-out reject it seems a bit of a self-righteous attitude, no?
@@Nocturnal-gn4jp Lol you are trying to act like you know me but you have no clue bro. You are obviously attempting to challenge me, that much is clear, except it's not working because you are saying I flat-out reject Franco. Use your brain. If I flat out rejected it, I wouldn't be writing in it, would I? So what are you blabbering about.
Make sense? Great.
Hey G, can you please do a video on places to store luggage in Cairo?

@@andrewjacobs1055 Oh I see, so you just haven't reached them. Have you tried to message them on Whatsapp? It might be the same number. Anyway, I bet they wouldn't have a problem storing your luggage for a while. I suppose it depends on for how long we are talking about, but because you are or will be a guest there, they shouldn't have a problem with that. Anyways, I guess now you know of two places where you can store luggage in case the hotel does not allow it. But I bet they will, once you are able to reach them.
@@Gventures are the two above listed places safe to store luggage? I was advised by my tour group that it may not be a safe option
Honestly though, your hotel really should allow you to just keep your luggage there. It's standard practice in Egypt for them to do that, unless you're going to be away for a very long time, you shouldn't have a problem.
Ah .. look at that.. pure chaos on the roads... 1 question tho ! Why would you want a good car in Cairo ... you WILL get hit no matter what. When I say chaos ... I do mean beautiful chaos , under control chaos... insane, love it.

Hi GiGi, thanks for the video. It is nice to know that they have metro if you don't want to deal with the heavy trafic. I'll visit Cairo for a single day in November after my tours in Aswan and Luxor. I'm interested in visiting the Islamic Cairo, the Egyptian museum and may be one of the pyramids. I have a guestion because I have a limited time in Cairo I can visit either the red/bent pyramids or Giza. It looks like the bent and the red pyramids are more hassle free than the one in Giza.
@@Gventures thank you so much for your response. Yes, it makes sense to visit Giza. I hope you'll have time for the 'islamic Cairo' video as well. Best wishes🤗
How would a newbie know where the ubers will pick you up..trial and error?
Exactly 🤣 But there are no tourists coming to this exact area anyway. Most are further up where the main entrance to Khan el-Khalili is.
That vid was captured on sunday ,,true or false?

I wanted to ask if it's possible for a student to find a one-bedroom apartment in downtown Cairo for around $150 per month.
No. Yes. Maybe? If you know how to hunt for one, as long as nobody tries to rip you off, you could find something on the outskirts of downtown or near the area for that price. I'm not going to speak to the quality of what you will find, but I suppose it's possible.
