Don’t be fooled he’s a smart man who like the biz owners esp big corps will use this for their own image. Their PR team prob jumped on it. It’s why he emphasized the game an team first and being there for his son second and like an add on. I doubt the game mattered to less and it was more driven by wanting to be a good dad and make his son happy - no matter where or what that happened to be. But he’ll now feel pressured to say it was the love of game.

This is who Calipari is. He cares for the individual be it the player or the fan. He loves the fact that this man would rather take his son to the game dirty than to clean up and possibly miss it. It’s not about winning back a fan base it’s trying to stress to his players the basics family responsibilities. I’m glad coach recognized the opportunity to teach his team a valuable lesson in priorities.

The key here is that his wife doesn't look down on him for not having the BAG or whatever nonsense is said. She respects him enough so that this was a moment of pride not shame. How many women dog out their husbands for how they dress and their appearance? This wife shows appreciation and gratitude to a hard working man, doing his best for his family. God bless that family and God bless Coach for spotlighting unsung heroes like this father.

It makes me cry that it took this long in our history to give a damn about the working man. My great, great, great grandfather was a sandhog. All the rest were coal miners. My dad came to Detroit and worked as a lineman. I became a technician. My son went down to Nashville and works construction as a heavy equipment operator and my daughter is here with me in Michigan as a registered nurse. To see this man do as much as he can to be with his family makes me proud to be an American. God bless him.

All my family are coal miners, generations upon generations of coal miners. My Great, Great Grandfather died in WW1 and we have his enlistment form, on that form they ask a question to the soldiers "What is your calling in life?" And my grandfather wrote "Coal miners" just like his daddy. It hit me like a ton of bricks, here's me trying to climb the corporate ladder when some men just want to be a coal miners and put bread on the table, there is no glory in coal mining, it is a humble job for sure. I don't care how much you practiced being able to play professional basketball is a privilege because most men have back breaking careers of little pay.

I don’t think the players and coaches realize just how loyal people are to these small state schools. I’m a Mountaineer fan and I literally forced a basketball team I took from the Orlando area to Jacksonville this past weekend to listen to the game against TCU. I grew up listening on battery powered radio shooting hoops in a buddies driveway and when I worked in a warehouse the whole place slowed down on the bag sealer and stacking bags to hear the game.

It’s the same here in Alabama. It’s all we have. Most of the diehard fans never attended the school bc it was too expensive but they are the most loyal fans. You don’t get to choose a team here, you’re born supporting one team or the other. Our achools give us hope and something to be proud of in a state where we don’t have much else to celebrate currently.

Sadly too many DADS are disrespected and taken for granted in today's culture . Families rely on Dads for so much and it's not noticed or appreciated until something goes wrong and that fathers support is stopped or taken away. Then the Dads importance and contributions are obvious. I applaud this father in the picture for having his priorities right and understanding that he needed to be there for his son. I also understand that this man is not alone ,that you may night believe it from watching the news or movies and TV shows today, but this type of father exist all over America and the world even to this day. They just aren't celebrated or appreciated as they were in the past. When I was a kid I saw strong and loving fathers in films and television shows. Dads that stood up for their wives and children and taught them right from wrong and good values. They honored and loved their wives. What do we see in today's vulgar and crude media. Swingers and infidelity. Divorce and court battles. The old days and the old ways were better and the further we stray from those lessons taught, the worse things become.

My grand father was from a loneliness of coal miners in England. As a boy he'd go down and this was 1890s, and he'd have to bring the canary that would alert the miners to the air quality. He hated the dark mines so much that he walked away and signed up for WW1 as that was more appealing that being underground to him. After the war he met and married my grandmother and together they immigrated to Canada, but chose not yo go to where the coal mines were. Instead he supported hisxwifexand family in a large dairy, he wasn't afraid of work. He always gave credit to those who could stay underground, but he knew it wasn't for him!
