This is very inspirational. I recently got and STI and want to fix it up and do all my own work but there is a goblin telling me I have no clue what I am doing. Finding out this was the first time you pulled an engine but managed to build this absolute beast makes me feel like maybe I can figure my way around the engine bay too.
I recently rebuilt my LGT for the first time and I just want to say Subarus are incredibly easy to understand and work on. You just have to take your time!
@@Smeedia Probably around 7k. Dealer quoted 9k for a new longblock, turbo, and labor. I have a ‘09 WRX with a STI 6 speed swap with 210k miles. I was looking for the cheapest reliable replacement with equal power. I kind of like the idea of a NA LS engine if that would fit. The car really isn’t worth anything now with snapped timing belt but I would hate to scrap it.

I think the worst part was the wiring mission and making it all sort of oem. That for me has been the mind blowing part. Damn Tanner, that is ONE DOPE ASS STI, and I’m glad you took the wrap off, and back to its original BIG BLUE! “BLUE! YOU’RE MY BOY BLUE!” But I have a SERIOUS ASAP HELP QUESTION, Doing timing belt kit and oil pump (IAG STAGE 2) replacement, but during the process, started and got two pulleys off so the belt was loose enough to come off, WITH MY CAM LOCKING TOOL IN PLACE, it didn’t hold worth a GOD DAMN and both Cams wheels rotated, Intake went to the BACK to the 11ish o’clock position and Exhaust went FORWARD to 2ish o’clock position. How do I line up my cams again to install belt? And how can I hold them there since they are loaded? I’m doing what I can until I see a notification from you. And thanks again for always answering us. YOU’RE MY BOY BLUE!

I have a 2004 Forester XT, with a 6spd and built motor... I can't wait for it to get to the 25years old mark so i can put a H6 in it.... Can't wait for the day i say good bye to the EJ25!

Brah, I had a similar issue, don't blame me. I God damit bought a new head because my last head blew a chunk from a coolant or oil gallory to the compression chamber. So long story short the new head a broken exhaust stud. Drilled out to big. I'm just ticked off. It's we pay good money for these parts and people are jipping us big boys. Smh
Imagine waking up one day and going "I'm going to rip my perfectly good STi apart and put a bigger engine in it."

Damn Tanner, that is ONE DOPE ASS STI, and I’m glad you took the wrap off, and back to its original BIG BLUE! “BLUE! YOU’RE MY BOY BLUE!” But I have a SERIOUS ASAP HELP QUESTION, Doing timing belt kit and oil pump (IAG STAGE 2) replacement, but during the process, started and got two pulleys off so the belt was loose enough to come off, WITH MY CAM LOCKING TOOL IN PLACE, it didn’t hold worth a GOD DAMN and both Cams wheels rotated, Intake went to the BACK to the 11ish o’clock position and Exhaust went FORWARD to 2ish o’clock position. How do I line up my cams again to install belt? And how can I hold them there since they are loaded? I’m doing what I can until I see a notification from you. And thanks again for always answering us. YOU’RE MY BOY BLUE!

@@Smeedia just bit the bullet and sent it to my mechanic. Which was a bummer but I didn’t want to screw it up. Also ordered the BORLA cat back Exhaust that should be here tomorrow! Beyond stoked! Right in the middle of a tune as well, I should probably get a hold of him and tell him of the updated modifications…

@@Smeedia Whichever one is boost friendly, the EZ or the EG... I just want 400hp, with good response and 93 oct pump gas. I'm currently at 312hp and 355tq to the wheels with a vf48 turbo and supporting mods.

Brah, I had a similar issue, don't blame me. I God damit bought a new head because my last head blew a chunk from a coolant or oil gallory to the compression chamber. So long story short the new head a broken exhaust stud. Drilled out to big. I'm just ticked off. It's we pay good money for these parts and people are jipping us big boys. Smh
