Love Riverside. When I first found Riverside, they had just released "Love, Fear and the Time Machine". Piotr, who was their original guitar player (the drummer is also named Piotr) had just passed away, and the band was in quite a bit of anguish. After they released a pretty cool instrumental only album in 2017, which from what I can tell was dedicated to Piotr, Riverside released this album, Wasteland (2018). It was very exciting for me, and is one of my favorite albums. So many good tracks. Anyways, I appreciate the reaction Tommy.

Riverside is fantastic. A song I highly recommend from them is Second Life Syndrome. Wonderfully proggy, and a good dose of the feels. I guess that's just Riverside in general, haha. Great reaction as always, sir.

I normally have a bit of a problem with this proggy style but damn, this was awesome. Kinda felt like a fantasy story in musical form. And an extra plus for having a freaking theremine on stage.

Right! they had this element of fantasy that floated through out the song.

DUDE!!! This was brilliant. Very.....VERY much reminded me of Pink Floyd. Great vocals. Great music. Such a clean sound. Best of all was the Floyd like atmosphere they put together for this track. Wow.....yea. 10 out of 10!

I can't think of a band LESS like Pink Floyd, to be honest.

@MrHistorian123 Fair enough but they sounded like Floyd to me.

The album from which this is taken (Wasteland) is an absolute masterpiece. Dark, brooding and reflective, it depicts the aftermath of a nuclear war. Clearly, the band were in a sombre mood after the death of their talismanic guitarist, Piotr Grudzinski.
It contains this track, Lament, River Down Below and The Night Before, all tracks that rank amongst the best in prog.

Wow, this was great. I sometimes have a hard time when it gets tooooo proggy, but this one flowed really fantastic. Great suggestion! Much love 🖤

Singer's voice reminding me of Blind Guardian. Great pick !

Such a great band and song! You may have missed it, but Mariusz switched from a piccolo bass in the first half of the song to a standard bass at the end. Really helps build the song up and provide some extra bottom end in the latter part of the song.

Awesome band. Try Hybrid Times or Second Life Syndrome for great proggy metal. For something moodier, try Left Out, Escalator Shrine (very Floydian) or The Depth of Self Delusion. The entire band is amazing but the vocalist and keyboard player stand out most for me.

Riverside should be bigger than they are

You mentioned the bass at the beginning....thats a piccolo bass. The strings are an octive higher to give a guitar sound
