I love how Sonic Mania isn't only filled with references to Sonic's past, but references to SEGA. Did not expect references to games like Puyo Puyo and Shinobi.
@@AymenZero Yeah, I won't argue that it's mainly & definitely done because of Mean Bean Machine, although I guess I should mention that Mean Bean Machine is a Western/Sonic reskin of the original Puyo Puyo, which is why the latter comes to mind for me first.
The contrast between this and act one is astounding, I've just played mania for the first time, and I know the name said "press garden" but I was not prepared to go from an industrial factory to a chill little winter blossom garden
Michael Jackson has been dead since 2009, but it hard to not see his influence on the Sonic series, given that the original composer for Sonic 1 & 2, Masato Nakamura, was a songwriter for the J-Pop band Dreams Come True, and heavily based their music on the Thriller and Bad era of Michael Jackson. And then Sonic 3 & Knuckles hired Bradley Buxer (who was Michael Jackson's personal keyboardist and backing music co-composer) and had him and Michael Jackson consult on and compose some segments of the songs for that game. Sonic games have always been based on the curious fusion of Funk, Disco, Rock n' Roll, Rhythm and Blues, and Contemporary Pop that Michael Jackson pioneered in his Thriller and Bad albums.
Every track from this game, I get flashbacks to Etika jamming out, this one sticks out to me because I didn't recognise press garden at all so it was really like a friend showing me his favourite music and it was great.
It's a beautiful track and to an equally stunning level: A rare sight to see post-blossom snow: it generally doesn't last long, the plants have to re-bloom if it happens and the snow's gone after a day.
My favorite level has to be Titanic Monarch because of how unique the idea is. I mean, you never really see characters go inside of a gigantic robot to stop the villain. You always see them fight the robot, but never go inside it or on the scaffolding around it while being built.

This song literally makes me emotional as sin as well as many others from this game and the ones back in the 90's. Thinking after 28 years since Sonic and Knuckles, Tee Lopes did something so beautiful that I never thought would exist. He composed all the music in Sonic Mania. I want to be honest. I was born in the 90's so I don't remember much but I remember late 90's nights and not to mention early 2000's playing all four Sonic games from the 90's. This just awoken something in me that I needed from the past that I never thought I would get that feeling back ever in my entire life. I keep thinking how would the 90's be or early 2000's if this game and all osts existed?? It just sounds like it should of been made in the 90's and I cannot believe how much it sounds like it. It hurts me in the heart. This is how Sonic should be and maybe in the next ten, twenty or even thirty years we live through to see one more come back like this. This makes me feel complete. Thank you, Tee Lopes and thank you Sonic Team for making this possible. It reminds me that good games will exist even to this day. Games have been so bad or disappointing lately and reminds me that this masterpiece exists. I am going to play and hopefully beat it once again this week and I am going to have a ball. And yes....
