Great job on getting outside and filming. It was great. It's amazing how easy some make it look, but when you get out there, it's so hard. I'm still working on getting out more to film. Appreciate the recommendations and review.

I'm actually about to trade in my Sigma 16mm f1.4 and my Samyang 12mm f2 (manual) for the 10-18, because as a filmmaker, I like that I'll have the entire focal range covered with one lens, and extended a bit on both ends, and will have some stabilization for vlogging. I love both of those primes, but they're too hard to control manually on my a6400 for video, at least handheld. And since I don't really do much still photography, meaning pretty much none, I feel like it's a no brainer for me. This video made me feel even better about it.

OMG Now watching 11-20 tamron seems a wiser option rather than 10 18 for zv e10, because of the wider aperture. But tamron is double the price of second hand Sony here in Turkey. What ever, i decide to stick with 16 50 kit lens in final :)))
Great video. I bought the zv-e10 not for vlogging but as an entry level photography and I bought it with the kit lens. I've been having a lot of fun with it. But im seeing now what type of lenses are there for different purposes. I like to zoom from far away, and also up close to like small plants and insects. Its to my understanding that i need a telephoto lens and a macro lens. Would you recommend any? There's so many at different price points. Any advice too?

That's how I discovered your channel and I really like your videos, congrats. I'm consequently not very familiar with Sony lenses and although I will mostly use the ZV E10 for streaming (I have the sigma 16mm 1.4) I was wondering what would be your recommendation for a Zoom that I would mount for travelling videos? I honestly don't think I would use the Sony much as I have a complete Canon system for that but Canon cameras are much bigger and I was thinking that maybe the compact format of the Sony would have its benefits... Thanks!! I would suggest the tamron 17-70 f2.8 - it covers a huge focal range, so you’ll be able to leave it on the whole trip amzn.to/3lsqxa9 BUT remember that the zv-e10 is not weathersealed, so don’t take it out in bad weather or get it wet on your sailing trip!!

Can you do a test using this lens in full frame mode with the a7iv + catalyst browse FYI- This lens does work in full frame mode with minimum vignette specially at 12mm.
I had to send this back a while ago, but it would have been interesting to see if that would work. because punching in say, 10% in catalyst browse would likely get rid of the vignette.I’ll see if. can test it on another lens.
To the main purpose to buy a camera for cinematic, vlogging, photography, travelling. Sony a6400 or zv e10. Can you please suggest me. Which is better option.
Travelling and photos you’ll want the a6400. It is weather-sealed and a better construction and the viewfinder will make taking photos much better. The video is great, but it will be very shaky handheld so you’ll want to put your camera on a tripod when using video.
Catalyst browser is so stable that it almost looks fake. Looks amazing though! Also, my iPhone 12 is not perfect. Also also I’m so looking forward to your yacht party

Thanks for watching!! This lens is not a power zoom so it will not work with the remote or rocker of the ZV-E10. however, the new Sony 10-20 f4, which is excellent will work with both.

@@WesLifeTV masks are only for inside here or if you were at an outdoor event. But walking by yourself in a park - masks aren’t required. Things are pretty good here, relative to a lot of places in the world.

The background blur of f2.8 and f4 is not really far. however I still preferred the f2.8 for extra light at night. But i'm still hoping that sigma will release the native version of 18-35mm f1.8 for sony. I dispose my 18-35mm with mc-11 because it's heavy
the fact is that 10-18 exists in two versions. The earlier one is in a white box and the later version is in an orange box, which is a head better. Which version of you?
The white box is international - the orange was a US version. One isn’t necessarily newer or older - just depends on where your lens comes from. The one I had was a US copy

Great choice. Stay with cameras! I couldn't see much difference between f4 and f2.8. Barely noticeable. I actually prefer vlogs with sharp background as I can see more about the place blogger visits. And when they bore me, I can enjoy the view of environment. Only Tony vlogs in beautiful lake using f 2.0. He could well be in his studio.

it’s annoying not to have a viewfinder, but you get used to it. Lightroom lets you edit the raw photos of only cameras they support. Every time a new camera comes out, Lightroom has to add it in to their profiles. So you can’t edit the raw photos right away. It should be added soon.

@@naorca To have the kit lens for $100 I think is worth it - because there are jut times you need it. I wouldn't use it for my main lens, but it's great as a backup - or if you need a certain focal length that you just don't have.
I really took a hard look at this lens. My budget for my TH-cam channel is limited and I wanted to get the best results for the money spent. I finally settled on a Samyang 12mm AF F2. The main reason was the wider aperture. I just don't want to invest in lenses equiv 135mm or less that are f4 ... f2.8 or lower would be my choice. I seldom use a zoom during shooting, choosing to use it just to change focal lengths, so the 12mm will do just fine for me, and costs a lot less. Cheers

Yes - it certainly will autofocus. It will not zoom for you. Make sure you have AF-C mode enabled

look for anything that says Macro - and take it from there. Macro lenses specialize in close focusing.

There is no one lens or even lens type for product photography, it depends on the subject and what aspect of the project needs to be featured.

the fact is that 10-18 exists in two versions. The earlier one is in a white box and the later version is in an orange box, which is a head better. Which version of you?
The white box is international - the orange was a US version. One isn’t necessarily newer or older - just depends on where your lens comes from. The one I had was a US copy

yes - I use a 10% crop - but catalyst does a great job of scaling without noticeable loss in resolution.
Catalyst Browse does crop. But, switch to Manual mode and you can adjust/reduce the crop and still get good results.
Great choice. Stay with cameras! I couldn't see much difference between f4 and f2.8. Barely noticeable. I actually prefer vlogs with sharp background as I can see more about the place blogger visits. And when they bore me, I can enjoy the view of environment. Only Tony vlogs in beautiful lake using f 2.0. He could well be in his studio.

it’s annoying not to have a viewfinder, but you get used to it. Lightroom lets you edit the raw photos of only cameras they support. Every time a new camera comes out, Lightroom has to add it in to their profiles. So you can’t edit the raw photos right away. It should be added soon.

@@naorca To have the kit lens for $100 I think is worth it - because there are jut times you need it. I wouldn't use it for my main lens, but it's great as a backup - or if you need a certain focal length that you just don't have.
I really took a hard look at this lens. My budget for my TH-cam channel is limited and I wanted to get the best results for the money spent. I finally settled on a Samyang 12mm AF F2. The main reason was the wider aperture. I just don't want to invest in lenses equiv 135mm or less that are f4 ... f2.8 or lower would be my choice. I seldom use a zoom during shooting, choosing to use it just to change focal lengths, so the 12mm will do just fine for me, and costs a lot less. Cheers
I have the samy 12mm AF 2 for these kind of videos. Sharper, wider aperture and cheaper than the sony
@@kistovisback I think it's a better choice too. I just got mine a few weeks ago and don't have much time using it, but my initial test were just outstanding.
I haven’t tried the Samyang yet, but it’s really great that there are so many good options coming out these days 😎👍

Most Canadians that I've met since I moved here scoff at American beers haha. But another thing to consider i guess, is that most torontarians are all about that "craft beer" life. I've never tried sam adams so maybe I need to see what the hype is about.

That’s why I put a question mark. I think the Tamron is the best for people who don’t need lens stabilization- otherwise - the 10-18 is the way to go.
