Their best record was "Always There" on the Fantasy Records label. It was very popular in the discos in the late '70s and sounded fabulous. Same song has been done by Ronnie Laws and several other artists. The lead singer on the original "Always There" should've won a Grammy for her performance. Listen with a great sound system and tell me if that vocal doesn't TAKE YOU TO CHURCH ! I am a songwriter who played a song at a friend's home on his piano for Sylvia St. James, who was a singer with this group in around 1980 or so. The song is called "After the Rain". I had hoped they would record it on their next album on Elektra. That never happened but I did notice they used my song title for the title of their album. Maybe coincidence or maybe not?? Whatever. I will always love this group for that absolutely SIZZLING single "Always There". DO NOT MISS IT.
I just wounder if she EVER even heard Ms. HELEN sang the fool out this song, she was out of breath half of the first verse, guy yall was on it glad she aint try "ALWAYS THERE" I still blast that joint.
