If "kenpachi" is a title to the strongest fighter in any generation, does that mean that mean that someone's gonna have to be stronger than kenpachi zaraki who is already monstrously strong?
well either to become a kenpachi they have to kill the last one or the last one could die leaving the 2nd strongest shinigami to become the 1st logicaly making them the kenpachi "the strongest"
So his Bankai basically makes him capable of minor reality manipulation...sounds like the perfect "muscle" for Squad 0 honestly in regards to when the light novel debuted.
I think it's deeper than that, you don't join Squad 0 unless you can contribute directly to preserving the balance of the 3 divided worlds... What if his bankai was actually a hell gate ?
@@oghaze9318 that would be wild actually. And possibly explain the 6 month cooldown on its usage. Tearing a hole in dimensions would no doubt tax the hell out of a Kenpachi even.
Not necessarily you don’t know how big the mouth can be or how fast it can travel across the ground if it can do that. And there’s also the concept of it extending off the ground as a possibility to its utility
@@oghaze9318 I know I’m late as hell but I was thinking something a little different as to why he was scouted. I do believe that his “power/bankai” was a reason but I believe it was how he turned a group of thugs and murders into a well oiled military unit. This is head cannon but him drinking with Shisui and the two squads partying together and his men hyping him up shows the effect he had on his men. And the respect his men had for him.
I love how bleach fans are growing. Seeing the series come to an end is sad but very exciting so many shows go unfinished. Bleach has always felt like there's more to be said or told.
An interesting thing aboout kuruyashiki is how his bankai seems to be at odds with his characters. We see hes a down to earth, nice dude like how you described. Being humble adn caring for his men, but based on the way his bankai works seems like he should be the opposite with how it just eats indescriminately and even his release command being poetic and about masicare the auspicious omens . It seems like his presentation of being a messy guy being the opposite of the loft goals of his shikai release. it kinda makes you wonder if he even fully knew his zanpakto/ bankai. It could be a situation similar to ichigo with him not fully embracing his instinct. like he has these violent impulses or something and he is trying to supress it, explaining why his bankai needs such a long cooldown. maybe he dosent even know its full/ true name. Its cool to think about.
You know... That would make sense if that was true. And if it was just imagine it. On how it can still work on what it does but just a better understanding of it.
I think the main reason Zank no Tach wasn't banned is C51 didn't have the balls to tell Yama-Jii to not use it. If the situation is dire enough that it needs to be used than we need to use it. "Banned" sounds like speeding in a car might be Illegal, but if you gotta get to the hospital because you've been mortally wounded, you do what you gotta do
I've always found Ashido's story compelling and I love to see him brought back in the light novels. I felt betrayed when Rukia just left him in Waco Mundo to rot.
Some people said he was heavily implied to be dead, he kinda did the stereotypical sacrifice. Ashido is one of my favorite characters of all time. I hope he becomes canon. Also he probably ate moss to survive or some kinda plants lol
@@pumkin610 I was thinking Hallow flesh which would have been sick. Like just carving them up a bit instead of outright eliminating them. That way they didn't just vanish.
@@UryuCifer Yeah like Shinji's bankai, can't recall it's name, but I know that it's also one of those indiscriminate targeting bankai. It's likely those types have to be used in 1v1 life or death scenarios, I know I wouldn't want to serve under a dude whose bankai targeted me; and on the same token, I'd not want to harm my subordinates with my bankai. I'd love to have a lightning based zanpakuto if I was in bleach, maybe one that coats me in lightning and allows me to call it down in a certain vicinity.
@@UryuCifer Mmm, no, lol. I want the Cloak to be able to make "lightning shields/barriers." If I recall properly, his made a kind of cage of lightning similar to byakuya's bankai sword cage technique (forgive me, been many years since I've watched the show.) My Cloak would only make shields and I could send it in a bubble to capture my opponents, but the shield techniques wouldn't do damage as a drawback, only the bolts I can call would do damage. My sword would definitely be one of those ones I have to smart to use effectively. Bankai I'd have it make lightning Clones like starks wolves.
I’d love the Hell Arc to be continued. There’s so much mystery in soul society. I’d love to see a video giving some info about central 46 and hear your theories on it. I have a few on how they came into being, but I feel like soul society needs some more explanation on their past and their foundation.
I think it was mentioned on Klub Outside once that older Zanpakuto tend to have longer release commands,so Kuruyashiki really fits here if you look at it from that angle
Maybe the cooldown has to do with digesting what his zanpakutou has eaten. And maybe it eats until it's completely full (so kurayashiki cannot stop it himself after activation, he has to wait it to complete it's eating), and the digesting period when its full is 6 months.
The reason I think the Zanpakuto feels artificial is the creatures look like the same ones that were on Aizens wings which technically would be artificially made. Would be interesting to know if there’s some connection there, maybe aizen had heard of this forbidden power.
Kuruyashiki's ability is basically summoning the langoliers which were things in the Stephen King book The Langaliers, and those things literally eat everything, time, space, reality, so that's what strikes me most about his Zanpaktous shikai and bankai
I really Like this Kenpachi he has a cool design if you ask me, It is a shame that we barely saw him but he seems to be respected by a lot of captains. Azashiro didn't seem to be respected by anyone
That 6 month cool down period reminds me of Soi Fon's 3 day cool down after using her Bankai. Kinda makes sense, he is opening a month on the floor, most take alot out of him.
I suspect that “banned bankai” of the 7th Kenpachi’s is part way to a “final release” technique like the “Final Muugestu” Isshin was implied to have when taught Ichigo to use his own “Final getsuga tenshou”
I just found this Channel. Bleach is my all time favorite anime and any in-depth info or history on the show and manga with a British accent for some reason makes it so much more interesting!
Fun Fact: Azashiro didn't just instantly cut up his body, he merged with Kuruyashiki and destroyed him from the inside. Think if someone was just instantly spliced into you
He ended up killing a part of himself in the process. When he fuses with something, he inserts a fragment of his soul into it. When something he fuses with is destroyed, he feels excruciating pain. Man had so much respect for Kurayashiki that he decided nearly killing himself was the only way to win.
I personally really like the idea of a banned Bankai. Its an interesting piece of world building. After all, with characters like Yama, Unohana, and Kyoraku walking around, Central 46 would be scared of the collateral damage of their abilities.
I don't like the idea. That would mean they would have to ban soul reapers, like Head Captain Yamamoto, since his power and bankai can literally cook other soul reapers around him or melt the soul society around him.
@@cainabel6356 Unless those Soul Reapers are only their bankai and every other ability they possess suddenly doesn't exist, that's a nonsense proposition.
@@Marcusjnmc Well It's not like his bankai is that deadly to allies, he was able to defeat a fake Juha bach with it before anyone died. The 7th Kenpachi litterally eats everything in what has to be a pretty wide radius.
I think the potential reason for the cooldown is due to what his Shikai and Bankai entail. That being, well, consumption. Of everything. Like literally everything that isn't him. We don't know where this consumed stuff goes, but I guess you could infer it's absorbed by the Zanpakto itself, and it's cooldown is basically due to it needing to 'digest' what it's consumed before it can be active again. Think like the Chomper from PvZ. In which case, perhaps the cooldown varies based on what and how much is consumed? And that 6 months is just the maximum. Being cautious he just assumes it's the maximum every time
If you want to play with the notion of his sword being weird and artificial, well, maybe it is. Maybe that's why Squad Zero would want him; he was the first to figure out how to modify his sword, or the spirit within it, thus laying the groundwork for other characters who do so, like Mayuri.
It could be possible that we see these two make an appearance in the new upcoming Hell Arc. It seems like a waste to have official art and zanpakuto designs and abilities of these characters, only to have them appear in a videogame but not in the canon series.
Kuruyashiki's Bankai is forbidden because it could swallow up Sereitei, if I'm not mistaken. It's on a whole other level, not like Shinji, Kyoraku, or even Yamamoto (whose power could eventually destroy Sereitei). Kuruyashiki's destruction ... consumption ... of Sereitei would be instantaneous. His Bankai is an unprejudiced WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. I LOVE IT!!! 💯💯💯💯
I think his release command makes sense with him, he looks beastial but very honorable in character. His release command is metal as hell, but poetic. And it's length is because it's so damn powerful lmao I find it interesting that his Zanpakuto and Bankai are very hollow-esque He might be related to Ginjo 🤷🏾♂️
If only we could get anything on that 9th we'd know the last five. I guess bare minimum we know the 9th was Azashiro's vice captain who took over after Azashiro's imprisonment and ergo is one of the only few to not kill their predecessor. So that's more than most I guess lol. Anyway I feel like it was such a missed opportunity to not make up something for his Bankai for his ultimate in the game. We know what it is and they even went out of the way to give Hikone his form that was described but never illustrated. Woulda been epic to see it animated. Oooh big thought though when you mention the Zanpakuto spirit like declining to use Bankai. Considering Ichigo's inner world changes when he so much as gets sad, I was thinking it may have to be more artful than that and something must happen to or change the state of the spirit or make it dormant somehow and then I thought: What if it's that, what if his Zanpakuto spirit is a more complete form of this monster and is a sort of beast or animal and after it uses Bankai it goes into hibernation? That way it's not so much that it refuses or anything but that it can't, it's out of energy, it passed out and wont wake up for that long. That'd be really interesting and even more fitting since it would happen after the big mouth eats everything, it eats a lot and then goes into hibernation!
i haven't seen ur channel in like 7yrs yt did me wrong glad to find this gem again. i know this video is almost 3yrs old but its still great keep it up
The 6 months break from his powers could be one of two possible things, the first being that it could be on par with what the final Getsuga did meaning that it consumed a large amount of his spirit energy to the point that if he used any before the 6 months, it would drain him completely...or that it could take his sword that long to digest everything it ate if it was a living weapon
I imagine that Genryusai, as the founder of the Gotei in the first place, likely WAS offered a place on the zero division, only for him to refuse to instead lead the rest of the court guard.
Its weird to think that Zaraki almost killed the First Kenpachi; then pissed around in the Rukongai for *centuries* while 9 other people took the seat; before swanning in and becoming the 11th with a single swing.
Considering unohana never officially passed on the title of kenpachi given that she was still alive, technically Zaraki is the second actual kenpachi since he killed unohana. That makes more sense than saying that all of the "strongest" fighters in soul society were on a base level weaker than suppressed zaraki.
Especially considering to receive the title of kenpachi means you're the strongest, stronger than the kenpachi before you which usually means you'd have to kill the former kenpachi. I think that the 2nd kenpachi was only named because unohana didn't want people knowing about her history and thus never officially passed on the title, but in technicality only.
I love their desgings. Kuruyashiki looks like a more matured Zaraki with a very downside of his Bankai (not just the forbidden state but the cooldown also), a harsh father-like figure and Azashiro is just another sad story with the very far Bankai from the Kenpachi title. Like Yumichika's, it's like a magic/kido based something. Interesting but too OP.
in terms of bbs, i like him the best cuz his art looks awesome, i got all 3 kenpachi within 2k orbs so im chilling. great vid looking forward about azashiro
I always found it interesting to think that the 2nd kenpachi must have been in on the Unohana thing, since well...she lived but there was a 2nd Kenpachi after her. Always wanted more detail on how exactly that handoff happened
I can see kenpatchi 2-6 or whatever been gone through rather quickly. Since 2 didnt earn the title it was prob easy for more challengers to be victorious till the real strongest starts to emerge. Kinda like a bracket tournament. Lot more canadates and fight from the beginning than at the end of the tournament
I much like the the sinister vibes his portrait exudes. Drives home the dark and blood smeared state of the Kenpachi and even Gotei 13 past in general.
I like to think that every Kenpachi has this build in switch, they are nice and friendly in the one moment but when things get serious they flip their switch, and it becomes all business. Like when Unohana starts fighting Zaraki she becomes this emotionless killing machine, and even when Zaraki fights Noitora at the end is face becomes completely emotionless.(When he uses Kendo)
@@MrAxedead True. Yoruichi also displays that trait. Despite being a deadly assassin she's typically friendly and non-violent, yet will get lethal as expected. This was seen in CFYOW with her arranging Tokinada's death and then wanting to brainwash Hisagi for knowing about the Spirit King with a very hostile and menacing aura. However compared to Soifon she controls it far better and knows to be responsibly restrained with her skills/power.
It's not. Shunsui simply compared it to Kuruyashiki's Bankai because they both affect allies and enemies indiscriminately. Nowhere is it stated that Shiji's Bankai was banned.
No shinji never used his bankai because it targets groups instead of 1 person and its also indiscriminate so anyone would be turned against an ally including his, plus he said that his zanpaktou works in reverse with the shikai being more powerful and useful than the bankai.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Yamamoto and Unohana were invited to join the zero division because they are both embodiments of soul society history. Yamamoto being the one who created the Gotei 13 and Unohana being the one who started the Kenpachi lineage. Both probably turned it down for whatever reasons, like remaining the head division commander for example.
Maybe he *does* behave in a way that suits his more devilish demeanor, but just during battle. Like during his off hours he's just a stand up guy who likes to party, but during battle he flips a switch and goes full Viking. We have characters in Bleach who are always layed back, and we have characters in Bleach who are just full on Berserkers. But we don't really have anyone who is both aside from *maybe* Unohana.
12:30 - Can you explain why captains like Kisuke or Mayuri haven’t been invited into the zero division even tho they clearly helped alot for the other squads?
Mayuri and Kisuke diden't had any amazing invention that changed soul society as a whole, to be promoted you need to change something in the Soul Society, Kisuke and Mayuri never created anything on this specifications
I wonder if living Zanpakto have more cost associated with them. Like he has to give up spirit energy to bring it to life and it has to be recovered to be used again.
I always see Kuruyashiki as Shiba Ganju with the perfect glow up + without the bandana. Their design somewhat to me at least, kinda similar. 😄 But nevertheless him and Unohana Yachiru are may fav Kenpachi. They just got that "commitment and principal" which i respect.
So, I think his bankai was banned because, as you said, it is a living zanpaktou... In shikai he has some semblance of control over it, but in bankai, it is like fully drawing the creature to inhabit the world, and Kurayashiki would have absolutely no control over it, and possibly not even the ability to stop it and reseal his blade into shikai or fully sealed zanpaktou.
@@bananaemon2339 go to step 6 that’s the guaranteed step. I went 10 steps and ended up with 3 Kuruyashiki. It would’ve been nice to get Aza or Zaraki, but I’ll take it lmao.
I think Yama would have been asked to join the zero division but he has too much of a sense of duty to remain the captain commander. That and he loves being in charge
Kuruyashiki, hands down, is the strongest Kenpachi ever. First off, the most dangerous bankai, and he was invited to 0 Squad. And thats no easy feat. And his bankai was banned, need we say more?? And as far as banned bankai, Kyoraku's bankai and Shinji's shouldve been also cause theirs dont discriminate from friend nor foe either. And is very terrifying.
Hey Tommo, will you make a Reigai Arc analysis anytime soon? I loved that filler and the tone it had, even more than the Zanpakutou Arc (tho it is a pretty good arc too)
Well actually ashido was set to appear in the mamga but he was cut out due to time issues so if anything the anime basically found a way to include him
definately do a video specifically for azashiro next, dying to see more content on these novel characters barely anyone seems to know and recognize currently pulling for him
Honestly, both Urahara and Mayuri have both created more than enough important things for or relevant to Soul Society for them to qualify if that was the _only_ real requirement. Yamamoto too, in a sense, because he both founded the Gotei 13 as an idea and created the Shin'o Academy to train Shinigami properly to fill the ranks of the organization... on top of being one of the most powerful Shinigami to ever live as well.
If you think about it, Azashiro, the 8th Kenpachi with the OP bankai that’s always activated, has Quincy powers, able to control reiatsu, but on a fundamental level. It’s like if you explain Quincy powers to a kid and allowed him to make his own main character using it.
It come to my mind if there is a possiblity however little it might be that Kuruyashiki and Kuugo are related somehow? Same with Soosuke and Azashiro. We know literally nothing of their families so this might be possibility as far as I see it.
Yea, I’m honestly kinda underwhelmed by Kuruyashiki’s character/ zanpakuto design, his character is cool but visually so bland which is especially weird considering how sick Ayashiro’a design is
That Bankai is insane! Hey lets just head into Barragans court, activate his Bankai. Repeat X times. Pretty sure at that point he could crank his Vasto Lord killcount up to eleven.
With Ashido since we don't know anything about his zanpakuto I assume its his shikai that lets him survive in the menos forest. Either it some how makes it so he can eat and drink or sets his body back to a certain state is my theory. Though I haven't watched the episode in forever so if he said something about its ability I don't remember it.
It says something about this guy's bankai when it's literally forbidden to use in the seritei. To me it's not the most powerful but it's definitely something
@@tyronjasonhuff it's more like it's the most dangerous bankai, which is what makes it terrifying. And remember Yamamoto was still alive during his time

It would be cool if during the new bleach anime kenpachi and unohana fight she has a flashback of all the kenpachi's from 2-10 before and after kenpachi reminiscing on how kenpachi is the strongest kenpachi since her
I guess we learnt about it after kuruyashiki's but didn't we find out shinji's bankai was banned in the seireitei as well or am i imagining things? Ashido appeared in about 3 episodes. or 2. It was a tiny mini arc. I haven't actually checked so you might be right and i might be wrong but im almost certain its more than 1 episode. I don't think soul reapers need to eat. Its just that if you have spiritual power you get hungry but as a soul you don't die if you don't eat. He might just be eternally hungry. I get theres lore behind why but im bummed out his special move in the game doesn't use his bankai. Tokinada also has a stupid long release command. Kuruyashiki and shinji's bankai would destroy soul society faster than zanka no tachi so theres that. Kuruyashiki's would do it immediately.
unless I'm wrong it's not that Shinni's Bankai was banned, it's just not incredibly useful, if he used it in seireitei, then he would have all of seireitei fighting amongst themselves and against him instead of against whatever enemy would cause a captain level shinigami to release their Bankai.
Shiji's Bankai isn't banned. That was just a misunderstanding because Shunsui compared it Kuruyashiki's Bankai, so people thought it was banned too. But it doesn't say that anywhere in the novels. Shunsui also compared it to Mayuri's Bankai, which obviously isn't banned either.
I think this is really interesting. I would love to see more of his era possibly more of Hikifune and maybe Tenjiro or senjumaru if they were once normal captains. He seems like an interesting character at very least like to see him vs vasto lorde
His Zanpaktou reminds me of the Popo from The Newbie is Too Strong manhua. 19:15 if the head captain is getting involved with his Bankai then SS is basically on the verge of death anyways.
That little 'poem' he says when he releases his zanpaktou is similar to what ukitake and shunsui do when they fight yammamto. Maybe it works similarly to doing a "full incantation" where the verbage increases the strength, but that's just speculation.

So his Bankai basically makes him capable of minor reality manipulation...sounds like the perfect "muscle" for Squad 0 honestly in regards to when the light novel debuted.
well that's why they scouted him but he declined, saying he doesnt want to be a guardian for the soul king
Or his bankai is just like Soi Fon's. The Shikai being the surface and false persona, the Bankai being the true self

My Cloak would only make shields and I could send it in a bubble to capture my opponents, but the shield techniques wouldn't do damage as a drawback, only the bolts I can call would do damage.
Oh damn, that would be interesting. Had not connected the dots
*Zanpakuto
@@lanos6853 Thank you for correcting me I’ve always been terrible with that word lol
Holy shit; I've legit been searching for information on the 7th Kenpachi and then Tommo uploads his video. Spot on.
That 6 month cool down period reminds me of Soi Fon's 3 day cool down after using her Bankai. Kinda makes sense, he is opening a month on the floor, most take alot out of him.
That release command is top tier Kubo poetry.

@@cainabel6356 I think they'd be too scared of Yama to actually tell him his bankai is forbidden
@@Marcusjnmc - I can see that.
I loved this wish we could've seen these two Kenpachis battle in the anime.
Maybe we will if they decide to animate SAFWY in the future!
It could be possible that we see these two make an appearance in the new upcoming Hell Arc. It seems like a waste to have official art and zanpakuto designs and abilities of these characters, only to have them appear in a videogame but not in the canon series.
So is the Hell Arc actually going be a thing?
AMBUKNIGHT
Can’t say. I can only hope.
Finally!! Ashino got a moment in a video. Thank you!!
I think his release command makes sense with him, he looks beastial but very honorable in character. His release command is metal as hell, but poetic. And it's length is because it's so damn powerful lmao
I find it interesting that his Zanpakuto and Bankai are very hollow-esque
He might be related to Ginjo 🤷🏾♂️
Once you learn Bankai you can skip the release command
Especially since his Shikai monsters are specifically around the size of a _bear_ which is an animal that hibernates.
@@CitroChannel Yeah him mentioning bears in the video really clicked the idea for me lol. That's definitely the theory I'm subscribing to now.

You get a new camera? I may be imagining it but the quality looks great! Good for you man. 👌
Yamamoto did not create anything to contribute to the history of Soul Society so he could never be a Royal Guard member
@@ember-evergarden He literally founded the Gotei 13. That's a pretty big contribution.

Its weird to think that Zaraki almost killed the First Kenpachi; then pissed around in the Rukongai for *centuries* while 9 other people took the seat; before swanning in and becoming the 11th with a single swing.
Seriously makes you wonder how strong they were
Considering unohana never officially passed on the title of kenpachi given that she was still alive, technically Zaraki is the second actual kenpachi since he killed unohana.
Azashiro looks like he should be related to Byakuya Kuchiki
A theory for why he may have been invited into the zero devision could be that he was the progenitor of the forbidden banki. Just a theory.
Can be
It will be cool if that is the sole reason
Pretty sure he was invited for creating the seated officer positions with 3rd-20th
I always found it interesting to think that the 2nd kenpachi must have been in on the Unohana thing, since well...she lived but there was a 2nd Kenpachi after her. Always wanted more detail on how exactly that handoff happened
I assume she retired and transferred to squad 4
His Shikai is literally just summoning the Langoliers to eat his opponents haha.
Nice reference
I'm trying to get this character. His design looks really cool.
I think Shinji's Bankai was also banned from being used
I believe it was
@@dinolover now if only he could learn to not tell his opponent his ability’s he’d win every fight
It would be interesting if they would put out a mostly official timeline of much of thing things we have seen in the Bleach universe.

How about Kisuke Urahara? Been thinking about this. Maybe his accomplishments should've caught the eye of the Zero Division
@@CitroChannel You are not wrong

With Ashido since we don't know anything about his zanpakuto I assume its his shikai that lets him survive in the menos forest.
