I’m a brand new home cook since my wife passed away in April. She bought me the Emeril Pressure Air Fryer and this guy has been amazing in giving me confidence to try new recipes, especially since many of these are not included in the instruction manual that I received with the cooker. This guy is amazing and has made cooking exciting for me. Keep in mind that my wife used to do all of the cooking for us over the past 30 years
I noticed something when you were cooking the steamed buns and how you said you could only do one layer, you actually have a second layer and may not have realized it. So the little metal tray you set them on actually sits inside the grey basket that you didn't want to try stuffing your whole chicken inside of earlier on. There is a little lip on the inside of that grey basket thing that you can set the metal tray you cooked the steamed buns on. That will give you two layers using that grey pot and the metal tray as a second shelf inside the pot. :)
I got one of these several months back partially due to this video. After some initial trepidation it's been a game changer for our household. It really opens up a lot more possibilities for quick but amazingly good meals. Most importantly for me, dry brown rice and dry (non-kidney) beans take about the same amount of time, so even at my laziest, I can just toss them in together with some seasonings and 35 minutes later or so I have a delicious dinner base for literally pennies per serving. Highly recommended! Now to branch out beyond the pressure cook, saute, and stir fry functions...
I guess the only one not to like it is the good soul in the comments that always wrote out the timestamps and will now need to look for a new meaning to their life.
My grandmother used to pressure cook her whole chickens in water. She’d save the cooking liquid then pull all the chicken off the bones to use in different recipes. Then she’d put the bones back in the cooking liquid and boil to make a stock (She didn’t have a lot of money and grew up in the Depression so she didn’t “waste” vegetables by using them in her stock. Unless she had some leftover celery leaves and pieces of onion.) Once she removed the bones from the stock, she added chicken bouillon granules or cubes as well as a little butter to enrich the stock. Once the stock was reduced quite a bit, she’d use it to make to make flat “slider” dumplings. She didn’t use anything other than the stock and self rising flour in her dumplings. (There’s a lot of recipes that do use butter or vegetable shortening and milk. Cracker Barrel dumplings taste the most like my grandmother’s but they’re a little greasy.) She’d roll the dumpling dough thin, cut them into long strips, and drop into the boiling stock then let them boil for 20 minutes or so. Right before she added the dumplings she’d put in the small pieces of chicken that she pulled off the bones when she strained the stock before adding the butter and bouillon. The bigger pieces were saved for other recipes, while the small bits were used in the dumplings. She also didn’t pick the bones completely clean, as boiling in the stock removed all those small bits which are difficult to pull off the chicken. That chicken broth from cooking a chicken was like liquid gold and was never ever wasted. I often roast a chicken or get a rotisserie chicken then use the bones to make homemade stock. I save the small bits of chicken and make homemade chicken and dumplings. Although I usually cheat and buy Anne’s Flat Dumplings which I get in the freezer section of my local grocery store. You can get Anne’s Dumplings on their website annesdumplings.com if you don’t live in an area that carries them.
Of you haven't already, try using Bisquik for dumplings mixed just with water or milk; I've been using it for several decades, always perfect and every bit as good as scratch.
I have a dog and unless I want to pay an arm and a leg at a pet store, I make my own stock to use in treat recipes and so forth for her. No seasonings added to the meats when I pressure cook them. Just the meat and bones themselves. Then I season the meat for whatever I plan on making. The bones are again added to the plain broth however to make stock for the dogs that is safe and healthy! My grandma also did what yours did with making do with what was at hand... in addition to having a garden for their own veggies and fruits. They canned, froze and dehydrated so much. I know part of the reason I've had a healthy life is because I wasn't eposed to so much 'preservatives' in store bought foods.
This is what I do, and I am too young to be a grandma! Using every bit of juice and meat and bones from a chicken is some of my favorite ways to make delicious food cheap in my world. I will often make chicken, then stock, then cook up a bunch of rice in that stock, then have chicken and rice for dinner in various forms. YUM!
Soaking beans causes them to ferment which creates an enzyme that not only makes them easier to digest but removes any chance of giving you gas! It’s for that reason alone that I always soak my beans. Love your enthusiasm as well as my Insta Pot. 😋
I survived 3 years in University with an instant pot and a toaster oven. If I gave myself this during freshman year I would have felt like I was in a professional kitchen
You can definitely cook beans without soaking but soaking actually gets rid of A LOT of dirt from the beans, compounds that cause flatulence AND makes the beans easier to digest! If you want beans tomorrow, just give them a scrub, discard the dirty water and soak them overnight. Don't forget to discard the soaking liquid.
It gets rid of the soluable fiber. It's good for you and over time the flatulence should dramatically reduce as you increase your fiber intake. So yeah, up to you but that fiber is good for you.
@@jacobnunya808you loose protein when you throw out your old leather steelcaps instead of stewing and eating them... are you eating your steel caps? Not everything has to be about numbers and micronutrients and waste. Sometimes, food is also about enjoyment. Also what argument even is that? the beans themselves still have antioxidants without that water so if you want more antioxidants you just eat more beans!
Cheers mate. Pot arrived the other day. I found dried chillies in my supermarket (not so easy in the UK). My mistakes -- Salsa: not enough tomato. Chicken: a bit overcooked. Beans: not quite done. But I've had the afternoon of a lifetime. I'll never do chicken in the oven again. And my tacos were amazing. It's an expensive device but it's already proved its value and versatility.
It's not expensive at all, when you consider the hundreds or thousands of fantastic meals it can produce with minimal effort and big savings compared to eating out. And the pleasure as well, since eating great food at home you made yourself is so satisfying ;)
u can use jalepno for a easier salsa. boil two or three roma , one onion , cilantro and jalapeño n garlic cloves . then blend w some water tske out seeds if u don want it spicy spicy . add cumin garlic snd lime salt . yum
Had our IP a week, and we've cooked in it every day since. From first time the obligatory airfried chips, which were better than the deepfried version, to full roast pork dinner on Sunday, the crackling on which, was to die for. This video has given us the confidence to try more. My missus has just made a rhubarb crumble. From East Yorkshire, UK.
I think you are my new favorite you tuber! Love how you just try things and sometimes they don’t work and that’s ok!!! Also love how they aren’t so scripted and you are so at home in front of the camera! So enjoyable to watch and I learned a ton! Thanks Mike!!
I lived off of my instant pot for over a year due to roommates and not having money to spend on multiple gadgets. I added a cast iron skillet last year and a sous vide recently.
I have this unit and have used the Sous Vide setting a few times now. Steaks come out amazing. I finish them either in a cast iron skirt or the grill. You could do it in the pot, but I prefer doing it external. Save the drippings from the steak to make a steak sauce. Note, if you have a regular glass pot lid, you can use that on some modes like slow cook, saute and sous vide.
@@f3n1xplat3ad0 The Instant Pot itself does a great job cooking rice, don't really need a rice cooker with it which is fantastic when you're limited on space.
I'm a cooking illiterate dude and your whole presentation and how easy you made this look gave me alot of confidence to go out and get one of these. Thanks Mike
A strength of the electric pressure cooker is how little user attention it requires. It is good for people who want to cook without the whole cooking experience.
Hey Mike the most common filling of the taquitos is just boiled chicken, and they are actually called flautas or tacos dorados. Some other common fillings are mashed potatoes, cheese, and shredded beef.
@@sinnsage In my experience in Mexico, flautas are just long tacos dorados. They're done with corn tortillas too, but either bigger or kind of improvised using two small ones to make a longer taco. It may vary by region, though, but I've never had flour tortilla ones.
@@MrDforDavo okay, interesting to know. yeah i think this is just the americanized version of stuff, so here in the states when mexican restaurants are referring to taquitos, you can expect them to be smaller and made with corn tortillas, and when they are referring to flautas, you can expect them to be much larger, perhaps even filled with more stuff, and made with flour tortillas. i'm sure authentic mexican food in mexico is mostly very different! but for american purposes, this is pretty much what you're going to see.
Anything wrapped in a tortilla can be called a taco, even salt (taco de sal), also the names are not always the same in different mexican states, taquitos sounds funny because it means little taco, but makes sense since we mexicans are prone to use diminutives when speaking
@@sinnsage Having just spent a week down in Puerto Vallerta, I can say, the versions you get in the states are 'Americanized'. That's not saying the 'Americanized' version isn't as good. It's just saying that there is a difference and both are great in all honesty!
Fearless and Fun! I just got my Instant Pot Duo Air Fryer as a gift and I was so intimidated to use it until I watched Mike's video. Now I'm ready to dive in and discover the many ways to use my new favorite kitchen toy!
@@riathawani1270 Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid 6 in 1, Turn your Instant Pot into an Air Fryer, 6 Qt, 1500W www.amazon.com/dp/B07VF7J5VQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_2P5n4sP31GVdY Hope this helps! It really only works if you have a 6 quart instant pot. I’m really loving it. The roasting function has been great, I roasted a whole chicken in it the other day. My only complaint is that you can’t do big batches of things, only enough for like maybe two people.
Thank you for sharing 🙏. Is the lid plastic and does it give off a plastic odour? Is the metal parts that the food is exposed to a aluminum or genuine stainless steel?
@@denpasarmoon5994 i honestly don’t know, I think it’s metal. It does give a slight hot plastic smell when you turn it on. I wouldn’t use it every day if that’s something your worried about.
Dude I have had the reg Instant Pot for like a year and just yesterday picked up an Air Fryer for only $40. It's like you were just one step ahead of me I was thinking about the many ways the two could work in unison. Thanks for the great ideas! One more thing! I'm pretty sure there is a YT rule somewhere that whenever you say "Round the outside" you have to repeat it at least once but I could be wrong..One last thing!! Jasmine rice 1 to 1 ratio cook 3 minutes and natural release for 10.
I have been making this roasted chicken in the instant pot ever since this video came out, it's one of the easiest and tastiest things to make in the instant pot in my opinion. I just want to say thanks for making this video, every time I make it I look it up again and it's very helpful.
Just bought an Instant Pot Duo Crispy / Air Fryer. I was a bit disappointed that no cookbook with basic recipes came with the unit but this video clip did a "marvelous" job ticking most of the possible techniques. Feel free to add more at any time. Editing my 1 year old post (which is now 2 years old) I keep getting drawn back to this video clip like a magnet. I wouldn't mind being able to simply download it and save it so I don't have to search for it. Can't say how terrific this content is.
I discovered your channel two days ago, and love it! I have lived "off in the woods" since 1986. Losing electricity is a huge difficulty. Whether from snow/ice or hurricanes and thunderstorms downing trees, we couldn't cook on this marvelous device. (And my well water pump requires electricity, so there are flushing/water problems.) Of course, not everyone lives in the boonies! I see these devices as the wave of the future, replacing our power-hungry traditional ranges. My 2021 Instant Pot has made cooking grains, veggies, etc faster & more affordable. I bought an AF as a substitute for using my conventional/convection oven in summer. Your channel has taught me to cook bread in the AF, vs heating the kitchen! Trying very soon. Bless you for this excellent information.
Technology changed since the 80's. You can have a foldable 1kW array built from flexible panels and keep it in the garage, not to mention normal panels.
😊 airfryer in the woods. Actually I just bought one to use while boondocking in the woods with our solar power. I love the multi function. I have a complete kitchen with only one appliance. And I love your videos. They have helped me be more brave.
@@gerardacronin334 This would be the Sous-Vide Setting on the Duo Crisp since it doesn't have a special Yogurt program. Sous-vide is more versatile though since you can fine tune the temperature. (So I've seen in other videos)
@@voidremoved I would love to know exactly how you decarboxylate in your Instant Pot. I don't do it because I hate the ever lasting smell after a while.
I plan to live off grid someday and I think a setup like this would be amazing for a full kitchen with much improved energy efficiency over a standard stove/oven setup.
I'm cooking from a wheelchair. I do almost everything in my digital pressure cooker (a Mealthy, in my case) and the air fryer lid: saute, bake, steam, pan fry, air fry, broil. and -- of course -- pressure cook. It is a very versatile machine and if you're willing to experiment and to think outside the box I think you would be happy replacing a traditional kitchen with this combo.
@@lllin526 I have ME and I find cooking too difficult most days. I'm so excited to get one of these. So good for disabled people and saving money using dried foods.
I am testing an off-grid setup with 2.3kW of solar on 20ft container right now. I am planning to use electric kettle, single induction hob, a grill/sandwicher and a blender. I will probably get a pressure cooker with air fryer and a food processor, since they are so versatile. I used to rely on microwave to reheat a lot, but I am not missing it. It is bulky and I don't have much space. The same applies to baking in oven. Power won't be an issue for at least 6 months, for the worst winter months you can get a quiet inverter power generator as a backup.
12:28 That setup is pretty genius, I never thought to put the trivet down and then the air fryer plate on top of it. Always just used the air fryer pot, and then I have to wash two pots. Awesome!
My wife ordered ths thing a few days ago and to my surprise it is a great gadget 🔥 you've earned my subscription with this amazing video, thank you for the hard work, enthusiasm and positive energy!
With larger pieces of meat like that, especially when it's not going to be in a sauce, you want to go with the natural release. It only takes about 10-15 minutes. otherwise it's going to be tender, but dry as the sahara.
@@candinunya5211 You can let it depressurize naturally all the way, or for most recipes, you can NPR for 10 min and then Quick Release. That 10 min gives the dish (usually a meat) the benefit of the natural pressure release, redistributing the juices.
Great video! BTW, did you know you can proof bread dough in the Instant Pot on the Yogurt setting? It cuts the rising time way down. I just made bread a couple weeks ago and It cut the rising time down from an hour to just 20 minutes.
I just watched your video because my air fryer/ instant pot combo arrives in Saturday and I needed ideas! You were excellent in your creativity and also included your boo-boos so we could learn! I so enjoyed it!! Thank you sooo much!! Will be following you for more awesome ideas!!
Just went out and bought one! Can’t want to have some fun. Update: made the whole chicken for supper, was amazing!! and used the sauté mode to make my gravy right in the same pot! Amazing product don’t think I will ever use my stove again :)
I have used my Instant pot duo for at least 3 years now and I am so happy about it! It is the most used appliance in my kitchen. I love it so much I gifted it to friends I am glad to find this video 🥰
You can also use your Instant Pot to first prove the bao dough really fast by putting it on the low yogurt setting. I find it can half the time needed.
We pressure cooked a 5 pound chicken for 40 minutes. I didn't have mine tied off with twine, since I can't find any around here. So the chicken split in half right down the sternum. LOL, It was too tender to take off the trivet. I Seasoned it, drained the liquid, and after 10 minutes of air frying it was time to pull it. Cooked Green beans and small golden potatoes Pot in Pot in my old IP. Then Air Fried the golden potatoes in the new one. Absolutely awesome! Thanks for your videos and inspiration.
Watching this reminds me of my first studio apartment. I basically cooked all my meals out of a rice cooker and toaster oven for about a year. Goodtimes honestly.
I watched part of this video two years ago and thought that I really don't need another kitchen gadget to take up space. My daughter recently moved out and we were looking for toaster ovens and I saw this duo. She's not a cook, would never make a whole chicken or even boiled eggs. We bought this and she's used it a couple of times already. Seeing how fast things cooked, now I want one and am revisiting these videos about them. Maybe it is another gadget I need!
I got rid of my rice cooker and slow cooker when I got my instant pot. btw, use the rice setting instead of guessing because my rice from the instant pot is better than any other method i've ever used.
You do have a double steam or air fry option using the dark gray insert and the that same metal plate. Works great for making 2 things at once or a large quantity of one thing.
I was surprised he said that because they pack it that way so you can see the insert fits into the steamer that way when you first take it out of the box.
One of my most praised recipes that everyone loves is to fried a lot of garlic in chunks quickly on the instant pot, sear the chicken a bit with salt and pepper, put a bit of white whine inside and cook it like that for 15-20 minutes. Move the chicken to a roasting tray that can handle all the liquid the chicken had, then make a lemon sauce with lemon, fine chopped garlec and parsley, pour it over the chicken and broil it for 5 minutes so the raw garlic cook enough... and it tastes amazing! You have to be sure to have very good bread to dip in the lemony sauce, because that could be the best part of the dish!
2 years ago I bought a 8 quart Insta pot on black Friday, and while I did like it and I used it a lot I felt it was too big, considering I'm cooking for just myself. 2 weeks ago a 6 court Instant pot duo was on black Friday sale and my mom bought it for me. Thankfully it's not only smaller, but I can also get rid of my air fryer since This machine does both jobs.
Finally someone has done a real combo video :-). I’ve had my Duo Crisp since March and absolutely love it. Can’t wait to try that pork belly! Two tips: 1) that air fryer basket is the perfect double basket with that metal plate...and 2) next time you do a Duo Crisp video you should *really* play around with the sous vide and slow cooker functions - especially combining slow cooker and air fryer for...say, ribs? Have fun!!!!!!
@@conanthedentist In between… If you soak the basket right away then it’s an easy cleanup but if you let it sit stuff can burn on there and takes an arm and a leg to get it off sometimes. I’ve had my duo crisp since December And still haven’t used the fryer basket for that reason. I just do all stuff on the trivet either in the low position or high position
11:54 - the trick to corn tortillas not falling apart is frying them quickly in oil.... the oil seals the tortilla and the heat softens.... you are welcome!
@@BtoBaCh the won't really...it doesn't seal them and the corn will crack and leak... check out any Mexican cook on TH-cam worth their salt and you'll see them do it. I often thought it was a crazy waste of calories... but it is necessary.
You got the pot sticker cooking backward, you want to steam then brown. Take 1Tbs oil, 1/4 Cup water in your pan, add the pot stickers cover with loose fitting lid and cook on a medium heat. The water will steam them as it boils away then the oil will remain to crisp up the bottoms and finish cooking them. Easy peasy.
I live in a Travel Trailer, which is perfect for the air fryer and instant pot. I have both. I don't have an oven in this place... So, what I have works,,,
Mexican here. PRO TIP: Put the beans 30 minutes pressure cook (natural release) before u go to bed (keep warming disabled). First thing in the morning, 30 min high pressure, salt, onion, a lots of garlic.
Your dumpling experiment reminded me of my mom and her "taco bao" recipe. Hey, it was the 70's, weird stuff happened in the kitchen. She made rolls out of Fleishmann's dough from the freezer section at the market, and stuffed it with taco meat. The were the best damned bao of my childhood. The memory was so strong that I cried a little. I mean, I know they weren't bao, but they were good.
I don't know if you learn this since the video, but you can proof your dough with the yogurt setting. It take only about half the time. The only thing is, don't utilise the presure cover; use any glass cover or stainless cover because if the dough touch the presure pin, you won't be able to open your pot.
I just bought one of these instant pots with the air fryer based on this video. It was not so much the instant pot, but the ease of making those recipes which are right up my street. The Mexican and the Asian dishes...... Delish! Thanks mate.
If you are feeding 2 people, these pressure cooker & air fryer combos are really all you need to make the vast majority of dishes. I'm feeding 6 people and I use mine 4-5 times a week, but the oven and stove top does come into play quite a bit.
Dude! I love all your air fryer videos and experiments. I had been putting off buying an instapot because I have a stove top pressure cooker. But when I saw this could replace my rice cooker (which I gave to my son), my slow cooker, my pressure cooker, my dehydrator and was an air fryer too, I spent the $80 and have never looked back. I love it, and I love air fried brussel sprouts. Keep the videos coming! And you are right, if you have limited space and cook for one or 2 people - get the Duo!
Love my IPAirFryer. Great recipe technics. FYI; regarding the steamed boa buns and air frying pork belly: You may have already figured this out or someone may have already said but you do have a double layer, by using the black insert basket and the silver steam tray. there is an indentation on the basket that the silver tray sits right in and stays at about half way up inside the basket. The black basket is also used mainly for air frying but is great for steaming, too.
My issue with using the air fryer lid combo with the Instant Pot is that you can’t use the Instant Pot and the air fryer at the same time. Using both appliances separately let’s you use one for the entree and one for the sides. If counter space is limited and time isn’t then the combo is awesome!
Makes sense. I have an air fryer already & was going to score one of these combo bad boys, now I'll just go for a standard one and not retire the air dryer. Thanks for the comment.
This is an incredible video with your brilliant experimental and cooking skills. I use my Instant pot duo crisp for roasting chicken, meat , potatoes dinner purposes and it's a wonderful gadget in the kitchen. Thank you Mike , for your recipes !
What a great video Mike! I bought this as a Christmas Present for my parents, and just watched your video for ideas on how it works! I appreciate all the effort you gave to produce this video!
I have been using a Simfonio pressure cooker for almost two years now and love it. In fact I love it so much I asked for the Instant Pot Duo for Christmas this year. I asked and received. I am not alowed to use it until Christmas and I can not wait. You videos are great and make me want to sneak my new pot out before the big day.
Really excellent quality videos I love the way it’s split up in sections!!!! I’d love to see more sweet stuff such as cakes and pies cooked in this pot
Ha, ha! That intro! Lol...can’t tell you’re excited! 😁 What my fam. Does with the corn tortillas, is we warm up coconut oil, just a quick dip to get them warm and the coconut oil to keep them from breaking.
Here in Brazil, specially in Rio, we eat black beans almost everyday. Even though it's perfectly possible to cook it from dry without soaking it first, it's much better to soak it for at least 8 hours because when you do that, the beans get rid of some nasty antinutrients and it becomes easier for our bodies to digest. And also it makes it quicker to cook. We normally use an old school pressure cooker.
Was looking for that comment regarding the nutritional importance of soaking the beans and discarding the water. However, please note that black beans are a daily favourite not only in Rio!
@@bluegrasslady9648 Unfortunately it's hard to find one that's not made from aluminum. The modern ones are usually made from aluminum with a non-stick coating. I still prefer to use this and cook my own beans, as the canned ones are also stored in aluminum containers and I don't even know how they were made.
Thanks, very useful video. You are so creative, easygoing and inspiring. Love it ❤ On the black beans - Do soak for a minimum of 6h before cooking. Better 8h. Then the cooking time would be perfect in low pressure. I like to soak for a couple hours in the evening, then discard water and put the beans in the pot with new water and program to cook later, either just before you wake up or just in time for dinner
I bought my Instant Pot Air Duo around Christmas. Living by myself this machine is a blessing. I've taken many of my favorite recipes and turned them into one pot wonders. Depending on how you structure your method, you never have to remove an ingredient to add back later. Example: I love beef stroganoff. Chop up meat, onions and mushroom. Put the meat in on saute and cook until starting to crisp on the edges. Add mushrooms and onions and continue to saute. Season with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. When mushrooms and onions are fork tender add a can of cream of mushroom soup (yes, a cheat for speed and flavor) and a cup of sour cream. Mix well, then put the air fryer lid on. BAKE, not air fry, at 350 for 20 - 30 minutes. Meat is tender and top is browned. I love to serve on top of wide egg noodles, and I know there is a way to cook the noodles from raw before baking in the single pot, just haven't experimented yet.
I bought an Instant Pot Duo today . My first recipe was lamb stew. Best ever! Easy to use. I have many kitchen gadgets. This is one of my favorites ... on par with the Breville Smart Oven Air.
Having been a PressurePro user for years, I learned that 30 minutes with dried beans is perfect as long as you just cook them in non-acidic liquid. You should always add some fat to keep down "fizz" like you do if you cook beans on a stovetop. I am very impressed with the Air Fryer feature and I can see why my plain old pressure cooker is passé. I made the opposite mistake you did. I forgot to set the pressure gauge (left it open) when I was cooking a corned beef many years ago. All of the liquid was cooked out and the bottom of the corned beef (in the 99-minute setting) burned to the bottom. It was tough. I ruined it. Live and learn! I did.
In the interest of safety: if you fold a dishcloth in 4ths, and place over the steam release, and use a wooden spoon or other utensil to release the steam, you are much less likely to get scalded, and, if you have overhead cabinets, you aren't steaming your cabinets, as well. I enjoyed the video. I love my instapot for every day things, like hard-boiled eggs, chicken, and bone broth. We had just started talking about an air fryer. I think you saved me a bunch of research time.
Great video, I would love to see more. So many folks are afraid of using the Instant Pot pressure cooker from the old type pressure cooker mishaps back in the day. You really showed how simple & easy they are now.
I love this! I would love to see what all you can bake in this appliance. Not just bread but cakes, cookies, and other deserts. I'm debating on getting one because I'd still have to bake in the oven.
That last dish is like the HK "fan tun" 飯糰 or sticky rice roll with pork floss, pickled veg, "you ja guai" 油条 or 油炸鬼 aka oil sticks or crispy fried devils which is like a HK donut. i like to dry pan fry to crisp up the edges.
YES I want to see more instant pot and air fryer experiments. There are a lot of people who have the IP and have used it for a while, but very few people who have been willing to try putting it though its paces cooking new things.
Moving into my first apartment in 26 years on Earth (stayed with girlfriends or family). Learning how to cook little by little and let me tell you this machine is a life saver especially with healthy meal prepping.
I just bought this this very moment, while air fryer and dehydrator is awesome but the "bake" function is a game changer, if it bakes my sourdough bread awesomely...yes this unit will replace my toaster oven, stove oven, crappy air fryer that is hard to clean and the nonstick is peeling only used it 5 times and replace my dehydrators, hahahahaha. Having a garage sale for sure, hahahahaha. I have a challenge for you could you bake sourdough bread in this? I just don't know how Instant Pot could get any better then this and I love ALL my Instant Pots! I would be grateful if you tried baking the sourdough bread in this unit and you're in the studio welcome back!

Love how you just wing it! I don’t have my Instant Pot Air Fryer yet...it’s coming on Thursday! I don’t eat Mexican food...digestive issues..but I enjoyed watching how you cooked everything and the ideas you came up with. Defeating intimidation before it sets in! Love to see more videos of you using the air fryer.
I have zero kitchen instincts, so making fancy foods (ie. Anything more complicated than scrambled eggs 😂) intimidate me so I rarely try new things. Your videos have given me a lot of confidence, I've already branched out to "weird(ish)" veggies and pickled things. I've been thinking of getting an Insta for a while, now I'm sold. You make it look simple to just go in there and guess your way through the process as long as you have the foundations down - which I'm getting better at thanks to channels like yours! Thank you so much, these videos of yours, that includes mistakes and your whole thinking process, are invaluable!
the reason to soak the beans is actually to remove some of the stuff that makes you fart a lot, not necessarily to make it easier to cook it. soak your beans to be less farty!

I always appreciate how Mike isn't afraid to fail and shows his mistakes, learns, and moves on.

Well stated
He was probably also very tired cooking so many things with different techniques. I really appreciate it too 🙏🏼

Really good quality, I did that about him as well!
The air fry lid literally turns it into a convection oven! Lots you can do with these things!
I love that the progress bar is split up into sections now

I guess the only one not to like it is the good soul in the comments that always wrote out the timestamps and will now need to look for a new meaning to their life.

@@gewreid5946 hah true
😯😯That’s amazing.

More with this pot please. InstantPot doesn’t tell you how to do much with it and I’m nowhere near as adventurous as you are. Love your videos!
My husband cooked beans but never soaked them.
It gets rid of the soluable fiber. It's good for you and over time the flatulence should dramatically reduce as you increase your fiber intake. So yeah, up to you but that fiber is good for you.
You do lose some antioxidants when you throw out the water.
Black beans take longer to cook than brown beans
We've been making whole chicken in our pot ever since we got the Pro Duo, it really makes it SO easy.
I lived off of my instant pot for over a year due to roommates and not having money to spend on multiple gadgets. I added a cast iron skillet last year and a sous vide recently.
Sous vide. The answer
If I have known about the Instapot and a good quality asian rice cooker, my life as a student and intern would have been much healthier and cheaper.
Those are three very solid choices. Throw in a Le Creuset dutch oven and you've got a lot of bases covered.

A strength of the electric pressure cooker is how little user attention it requires. It is good for people who want to cook without the whole cooking experience.
Hey Mike the most common filling of the taquitos is just boiled chicken, and they are actually called flautas or tacos dorados. Some other common fillings are mashed potatoes, cheese, and shredded beef.
actually, flautas are when you use flour tortillas. taquitos are when you use corn tortillas.

Just bought an Instant Pot Duo Crispy / Air Fryer. I was a bit disappointed that no cookbook with basic recipes came with the unit but this video clip did a "marvelous" job ticking most of the possible techniques. Feel free to add more at any time.
Editing my 1 year old post (which is now 2 years old)
I keep getting drawn back to this video clip like a magnet. I wouldn't mind being able to simply download it and save it so I don't have to search for it. Can't say how terrific this content is.
I went and bought an airfryer after you showed me how easy and versatile it was, and this looks even better!
They have helped me be more brave.
mission accomplished! get brave in the kitchen
It's great for boondocking because you are not going to cook any more efficiently than with a pressure cooker.
Yup, 3000 watt inverter, solar panels and lithium batteries and you can have a full fledged kitchen galley.
How much solar do you have?
You can also proof your dough on the steamer setting for about 20 minutes!
LOVE THIS FEATURE!
I proof my dough on Yogurt, Low for 1-2 hours. It works better than anything else I have tried.
interesting. I may try that out if I have the time... Or rather if I am short on time... Its a useful tool, also great for decarboxylating my cannabis
@@gerardacronin334 This would be the Sous-Vide Setting on the Duo Crisp since it doesn't have a special Yogurt program. Sous-vide is more versatile though since you can fine tune the temperature. (So I've seen in other videos)

@@lllin526 you know what? I'll bet you could make your own channel, cooking from a wheelchair. If it takes off, they make good money.
You mean letting it sit after cooking?
I make chicken soup all the ti.e in my sz 8 and it takes 20 min
@@candinunya5211 You can let it depressurize naturally all the way, or for most recipes, you can NPR for 10 min and then Quick Release. That 10 min gives the dish (usually a meat) the benefit of the natural pressure release, redistributing the juices.
Great video! BTW, did you know you can proof bread dough in the Instant Pot on the Yogurt setting? It cuts the rising time way down. I just made bread a couple weeks ago and It cut the rising time down from an hour to just 20 minutes.
There is no such setting in Duo Crisp though. Maybe the dehydrate will work the same way coz dough rise faster when its warm?
Quick and different segments, informative, good editing and the video's 27 mins which is great since you end up wanting more! Another great vid!

How did you make everything without things going cold? Or was it just chicken and gravy you had for dinner?
You have to be sure to have very good bread to dip in the lemony sauce, because that could be the best part of the dish!
javi make a video!!!!!

How is clean up with the air fryer? Easy, frustrating, or somewhere in between?
@@conanthedentist In between… If you soak the basket right away then it’s an easy cleanup but if you let it sit stuff can burn on there and takes an arm and a leg to get it off sometimes.
PRO TIP:
Put the beans 30 minutes pressure cook (natural release) before u go to bed (keep warming disabled).
New challenge: instant pot jello mold
I don't know if you learn this since the video, but you can proof your dough with the yogurt setting. It take only about half the time. The only thing is, don't utilise the presure cover; use any glass cover or stainless cover because if the dough touch the presure pin, you won't be able to open your pot.
I live in staff accommodation and the kitchen we have access to is tiny and under equipped. So appliance cooking is definitely a must.
Mike this was incredible. I love how you show us different things to cook using this instant pot. Great video.
Love my IPAirFryer. Great recipe technics.
FYI; regarding the steamed boa buns and air frying pork belly:
You may have already figured this out or someone may have already said but you do have a double layer, by using the black insert basket and the silver steam tray. there is an indentation on the basket that the silver tray sits right in and stays at about half way up inside the basket.

Yes, makes a lot of sense too - plants don't want their beans to go to waste... it represents their progeny.
I hope that your old school pressure cooker isn't aluminum like mine was. They cause brain damage. I cringed when he cooked in aluminum foil.
I recently purchased the Instant Pot Vortex 9 in 1 Oven. It is amazing! I got rid of my toaster oven and microwave oven, no need now.
The trick to the black beans is you let it naturally release the steam. Then they would be done and not undercooked.
Natural release is more, so they don't split open from boil temp damage. He made that mistake with the chicken.
Also don’t add salt till done .
This is freaking amazing! By far the best video tutorial I have seen. Can you make more of these linked recipes?
Yes, would love to see more experiments with this new pot! Great video and great recipes!
Thanks for leaving in the mistakes/failures, they're super useful to learn from.
Just stunning video quality. Excellent job Mike.
I bought an Instant Pot Duo today . My first recipe was lamb stew. Best ever! Easy to use. I have many kitchen gadgets. This is one of my favorites ... on par with the Breville Smart Oven Air.
IT has in my kitchen for almost a year. I paired my Instant Pot with the Mealthy CrispLid and it has been wonderful.
Same. Have the Mealthy Pot and the CrispLid. I literally don't need anything else in my kitchen to cook my daily food 😂
@@metrocook NOt the same... Instant pot plus Crisplid does not equal Mealthy Pot and crisplid... IP for the win!
pesto12601 bro it’s just a kitchen gadget, no need to start a feud here over brands
Dude!! I love how you put your mistakes in here, makes me not afraid to try something new! Thank You!!
You can proof dough in the Instant Pot if you have the yogurt settings.
Good for you! Bosch Universal Plus...and yes, I have this I-Pot myself and love it.
The last dish looks F-ing amazing. Thanks for telling me wtf it is because now I need to learn to make it!
YES I want to see more instant pot and air fryer experiments. There are a lot of people who have the IP and have used it for a while, but very few people who have been willing to try putting it though its paces cooking new things.
i live in japan, and im really considering getting one of these, cuz I really miss roasting, and I only have a little fish guriru.... taihenda.
G'day from Northern Australia. I pressure cook my pork belly and or chickens in a mixture of Coke Cola, soy sauce, fresh ginger, garlic and Chinese 5 spice powder. Delish!
Thanks for the excellent video Mike. I just bought one of these and would love to see more of your experimentation with yours!
This is the best video i think you've ever done. All of it practical, I was on the fence about picking up one of these. Now I think its awesome.
What is your verdict?
the reason to soak the beans is actually to remove some of the stuff that makes you fart a lot, not necessarily to make it easier to cook it.
soak your beans to be less farty!
Do u fart a lot
@@tangiechapman6219 whenever I eat beans that haven't been soaked
More importantly, it can lower the level of anti-nutrients in them.
@@tangiechapman6219 Do you skip using question marks only for your stupid questions?
mmmm this would also make them harder to keep down for people who are really sensitive like myself
Subscribed. I got this same pot for Christmas and can't wait to make a whole roasted chicken that we raised on our farm. Thank you for sharing.
