Jesse Eisenberg joins the Armchair Expert to discuss not being cool enough to smoke, receiving a cease and desist letter as a kid from Woody Allen, and how community theater was his outlet for being an incredibly anxious child. th-cam.com/video/KP6IMhvsmj8/w-d-xo.html
Allison Jones (Freaks and Geeks, The Office, Veep) is an Emmy Award-winning casting director. Allison joins the Armchair Expert to discuss growing up an Irish twin in Massachusetts, her first casting job on Family Ties, and how her love of TV prompted her move to California. Allison and Dax talk about the cast of the Golden Girls actually only being in their 50s, how the highlight of her career was meeting Quincy Jones while casting The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and why jumping a car over another car is less scary than doing standup comedy. Allison explains the number one mistake actors make in auditions, why McLovin is still the most difficult role she’s ever cast, and how she stays hungry and dialed-in after over 41 years on the job. 🍒🍒😅
WOW, what a treat! Allison's name in the opening credits is the ultimate indicator that I'm going to love and laugh at whatever I'm about to watch; getting to know her story and personality is a genuine delight. Thank you for another great episode!
I was SO excited to see that Allison Jones was a guest! I first heard of her brilliance on Office Ladies and have been so curious to hear her story since her career is absolutely legendary. She’s so lovely- great episode!!
Dax asked what Monica does with the Pantone Color of the year. My boyfriend and I come up with a word we want to live by for the year, then we create a custom sticker with that word and use the color of the year as the color of the sticker. We put it up where we see it every day throughout the year! LOVED this episode!!
@ sure! Last year was intentional excellence. We wanted to aim to be intentional and excellent in all of our actions and interactions. Instead of striving for perfection which is impossible we choose excellence. This year is still being decided but we are leaning towards Thrive in 2025. 😊
Listening to Allison Jones is always fascinating… her curiosity and passion for people and comedy make her perspective on casting so rich and inspiring. It makes me think of how small decisions you’ve all made have profoundly shaped my life. Allison, Monica, and Dax, thank you for being yourselves and for the ripple effects of your existence in this world - they’ve brought more good than you can imagine. ❤
The color Buff can be used in lieu of Nude since this color’s name comes from the look of undyed buffalo leather. Great episode, loved getting a look at this part of the industry.
The Will Shakespeare talk made me really want to hear an interview with authorJodi Picoult!!! I just read her book "By Any Other Name." Such an amazing take on the theory that William Shakespeare may have not been the actual author on his works, but (gasp) it was a WOMAN who wrote all of that beautiful prose! Please look into it, and share it with your fantastic audience!!!! 🥰
Allison Jones, great episode. But in the fact check Dax talks about the movie A Christmas Story and gets some facts wrong. Ralphie family does not live in Cleveland Ohio, but on Cleveland St in fictional town of Hohman Indiana. But actual home in film is apparently located in Cleveland. Also timeframe for movie is PreWar2 era not the 50s.
This was my favorite episode! More behind the scenes with Allison! Dax if you HAVE to put something in your mouth, PLEASE do better at hiding it. It’s like misophonia but visual. So gross! Please? Anyway, fan from day one. Love you 3!

I am not in the Hollywood industry at all, but this is one of the most interesting podcast episodes. What a fascinating career

“Pantone mooseknucke” I died 🤣
A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie! The house, the town, all of it reminds me so much of my grandparents home.
OH MY GOODNESS! I’ve been dying to meet her and get to know her story! 🙌
🥰🥰🥰
We need a part two of her immediately.
Super enjoyable & nostalgic banter✌️💚❤️🎄
You both look so gorgeous in those armchair sweatshirts. The colour is beautiful on both of you!!
I’m a shoe in for the first Armhair Expert episode!🙌🏽
This woman needs to right a book because she has some stories. 😎
The color Buff can be used in lieu of Nude since this color’s name comes from the look of undyed buffalo leather. Great episode, loved getting a look at this part of the industry.
I’m late to the party but Monica’s tongue acting was charming as!
Rob, did you use a little wider shot and some different color settings?

I would be so excited to hear Jodi Picoult on here!
This is freakin me out. “Maybe I like Jon Brion” is an epiphany I’ve had. Sim
