  • The UK is in lockdown and dogs can only get maximum 2 walks per day (if 2 people at home). Here are some ideas using things around your home that you can use to make fun games that will tire them out!

    Great ideas.. thank you! The only comment I have is a reminder for people to supervise their dog with enrichment games, especially when using pieces of material or plastic objects they can chew & swallow. ❤🐾

    Love these ideas. So creative. Have watched other videos but this one is more imaginative.
    My 1 yo Rottie pup was just diagnosed with a congenital heart murmur so I have to figure out ways to keep her occupied without her over exercising or getting overheated. I call her Debbie Destructo at times because she tears everything up and is happiest when she does.
    (nothing important..just paper towels and her toys and sticks, etc.)
    She absolutely loves paper towels!! She shreds them like a hamster preparing her bedding.
    Fun for her & for me to watch. She's the only dog I've ever seen do this but it makes her very happy... also noticed it works to de-stress her when needed. Clean up is quick & easy and it's inexpensive. I gave her an entire roll to do her thing with on her birthday lol!
    That said, it will be interesting to see the results of these games. Don't mind the clean up though.. as long as she's happy, healthy & entertained!! Thanks!

    Thank you! I have a 6 month old GSD puppy who gets into anything to shred it up!! I have been really remiss in challenging him intellectually so I will try some of these!!

    I tried the treats in the towel - is was good
    Now i am looking what else i can use around the house
    I washed a beer can … it will be the new “food dispenser”
    A plastic bottle in a sock will be a squeaky toy

    Very useful. I used the rolled towel this morning. My 2 dogs loved it and are now napping.

    Thank you. This is the best video I've seen and has given me lots of ideas. Charlie is a terrier and likes to destroy things at breakneck speed but lots of these will be great for him. He's and can't go on long walks.

    Saw someone filling ice cube trays with broth then covering the tray with plastic wrap and making holes in the middle of each cube opening to stick trays like Milk Bones into making sure that part of the tree is sticking up and out of the fluid... allows them to pull the ice cube out of the tray by grabbing the end of the treat with their mouth.
    I add water to peanut butter and then pour it over their food to get them more interested. The water makes it easier to pour and also reduces the caloric content. I wouldn't want to put broth in the ice cube tray as it is very salty so I was thinking I will try my watered down peanut butter for their ice cube treats. Puppy peanut butter pops for the summer!

    Wonderful ideas. I can never think of things to do with my Seymour. Soon as I’m able to get some things I will. I love the plait toy. That’s incredible and Seymour would love it. We’re still on lockdown and for now I’m okay with that. Itsvthe only way to slow things down and get control of them. Supply lines are open so I’m all good with it. 💜💜💜

    Great ideas, thank you
    I’ll certainly try some with our miniature poodle Tassie
    We can still take her for walks once a day in our local parkland as long as we keep a safe distance away from other people
    We choose areas where not many people go, we will continue doing this until if and when tighter restrictions come into force
    Keep safe, healthy and happy
    Love from Melbourne Australia 🙋‍♀️❤️🥰

    I thought I would try something new with my gsd following your encoragement so I put 2 chew sticks in a toy that had lost stuffing.Long gsd nose straight in there and pulled them out.Hhmm.30 seconds later game over.Need to rethink this one as her IQ well over mine but so proud of her.

    Heyy, I love your channel and have a question. I have a three month old mini labradoodle and I was wondering if they get more independent and easier to manage. I know all dogs are different but how was it with Watson growing up. Thank you 😊

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hehe, I used to ask everyone that same question, "When do they calm down" - I'm afraid to say that it isn't generally until about 18 months that we noticed a difference with Watson and then again at 2 years old but I know some that don't calm down until 3 years old. That's why there are so many videos and ideas on my channel for enrichment and games for separation - doodles are high energy and don't like being alone so you have to get creative in finding ways to tire them out. x

    I could care less about the mess. My dog needs brain stimulation games as she has a broken leg and has to stay immobile unless she goes out to use the bathroom. Thank you for these wonderful ideas.

    Great ideas but beware of lego as choking hazard for some dogs.Most owners know their dogs but if in doubt not lego. But all good otherwise.

    • @WatsontheWarrior
      @WatsontheWarrior  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Regarding choking there are a LOT of things mentioned that would present a risk depending on dog size aside from just lego - the plastic balls, and even the cardboard and fleece for dogs that eat such things. As you say, it's about knowing your own dog but also supervising them. x

  • @helenlauber7622
    @helenlauber7622 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many of these activities would you do a day?

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Watson has one main enrichment game a day usually, depending on how much walking he's doing. So today for example he's with the walker for an adventure day, so 3 hours walking. Then this evening he'll get an enrichment game after dinner. On the snow days where the walker was off, we did an extra enrichment game or training with him during the day being as he wouldn't be as tired due to lack of pack walks. x

    I’d be concerned about dogs eating legos and tipping over ironing boards.

    • @TheBeautyMaverick
      @TheBeautyMaverick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your dog eats things then some of the games won't be appropriate. Thankfully mine doesn't. I hold the ironing board or am sitting near enough to grab it. In 5 years its never toppled.
