He actually fell in love with Carly while she longed to be with jack. She slept with jack and with brad around the same time frame. Jack pronounced his love for Carly and she asked brad for a divorce and in turn he would keep quiet if she gave him some money. But at Hal’s and Barbara’s engagement party brad told everyone that Parker’s real dad was Hal. And publicly humiliated Carly in front of everyone and she lost jack and her money. Also, Hal and Barbara took parker into their home while Carly had to start over from scratch with absolutely nothing. John was very heart broken about not being Parker’s real father.
