    Probably worth playing cards that can copy Chisei (Spark Double, both Sakashimas) so that you can potentially sustain multiple cumulative upkeep triggers/perpetual sagas.

      Paradox Haze too, for multiple upkeeps/multiple Chisei triggers. That’s a fun trick I learned from my Jhoira suspend deck.

      @@IxDreamedxIxMetxYou Paradox Haze is a bit weird in this deck, since it also doubles your Cumulative Upkeep triggers, which kinda defeats the point.

    Another thing you could do with Ulasht is take advantage of the enrage mechanic to get some fun repeateable effects. Raptor Hatchling and Polyraptor are both good ones because they can get you some extra creatures, ranging raptors can find you additional lands, etc etc. Of course, you would need to be careful about giving Ulasht deathtouch or equipping something like neko-te, but I think you could have some fun with that.

    Time of ice wasn’t next untap, it’s for as long as time of ice is on the battlefield. That’s very strong if you keep it in play and eventually you pay off by returning them to opponent’s hands on 3.

    I know Ivy Lane Denizen was in Ulasht, but it's also great with Jedit. If you just have those 2 and a yavimaya out, your commander is now 3 hits away from a commander damage kill.

    Amazing video as always! Chisei is one of my pet cards (I really enjoy mono color commanders) and I have a couple os suggestions if someone wants to make a Chisei deck:
    1- Decree of silence can be devastating late game, when you have one opponent left;
    2- Deep sea Kraken is a fun card too;
    3- Nesting grounds and Power conduit are good "chisei effects" and if you want a card to throw all the counters from Power conduit, I recommend Titan Forge

  • @IxDreamedxIxMetxYou
    @IxDreamedxIxMetxYou 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this video! I saw Chisei at a con once (not as the commander) and have been trying to puzzle it out ever since. Super weird card. The main thing that trips me up is you can only remove one counter per upkeep, so loading down the board with sagas etc actually won’t help you too much. Paradox Haze seems like an auto-include for that reason. And how do you win? Jedit on the other hand is one of my favorite cards in the game, I have him in my Arahbo deck and I usually get laughed at for how excited I am to play him - but he is absolutely nothing to sneeze at. Even if he’s not unblockable he makes so many tokens, and relevant tokens at that.
    Ulasht seems just good, maybe not overwhelming but certainly not underwhelming. Kind of surprised it made the cut for this series honestly.

    You want your saga to be at level 2. That way if you remove a counter, it triggers the 1st one again and then after your draw step it triggers the second one again. So that is 2 triggers in one turn. This wouldn't happen if you removed the counter at level 1.
    Also one other cool interaction, a saga is destroyed when the last chapter has RESOLVED! So if you can remove a counter at instant speed when the last trigger is on the stack, you keep the saga around for another turn!

    • @IxDreamedxIxMetxYou
      @IxDreamedxIxMetxYou 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Saga chapters only trigger when counters are *added*, not removed. Removing a counter does not cause the previous chapter to trigger. So to repeatedly trigger the first chapter, you have to have 0 counters on it first. The reason sagas work with Chisei is because Chisei removes counters during upkeep, whereas sagas add counters immediately after the draw step (Untap > Upkeep > Draw), so you can have zero counters on the saga before the game checks and adds one more.
