  • Hoshi Hiroaki Kunio Sensei and his students demonstrating Yagyu Shingan-ryu Katchu Heiho during the 42nd Nihon Kobudo Embutaikai held at the Nippon Budokan on February 3rd, 2019. The event also commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Nihon Kobudo Kyokai.
    Yagyu Shingan-ryu harbors different styles such as Heiho-jutsu and Tai-jutsu. The former was founded by Takenaga Hayato but the school itself was setup by Tatewaki Shindo. Originally called simply Shingan-ryu, the school was later renamed Yagyu Shingan-ryu because of the influence of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu.

    Why did the japanease not like to hold a shield in one and a blade?

      They just didn't need them. They had armor to protect them. Most japanese weapons are also two handed so no hands for a shield. They had moving walls that sometimes are used as shields or put on their backs when running from arrows.

    Броните и всички доспехи са Много Красиви и вероятно са Дубликати на някои от Най-добрите модели от Средните векове! Особености на Супер-Оръжия са, че Не са така тежки, като тоягите -мечове, с които обикновено се тренира в залите! С такива Леки саби (почти като шпаги, или прочутите саби от Толедо, или Саби-Дамаскини, лесно може да се Отсече Глава, ръка, или да се посече тялото, както и да се прониже с Лекота!!! Затова тези Стари майстори, действат Бавно и Внимателно! Точно така трябва с Реални оръжия! Бързите Боеве по турнири, често са с Дървени и Тъпи мечове, и затова позволяват Доста Рисковани и даже Яки удари и по главата и тялото, които възбуждат необразованите хора и ги докарват до бесен екстаз! На който не му харесва тази Демонстрация с Бойни доспехи, може да гледа турнирите с Дървени мечове! Тези майстори, затова са оцелели до тази възраст, защото Не са се влияели от мнения на тълпата!
    Затова могат да предават Хиляди умения на следващите поколения!!! Уважения и Пожелания за още Много успехи!!!

    when the samurai used the tachi but that was mostly on horseback

    • @outsideiskrrtinsideihurt699
      @outsideiskrrtinsideihurt699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This is a bit of a misconception.
      Yes the tachi was effective on horseback but if you look at iconography, samurai on the foot throughout the 11th 12th 13th 14th and 15th centuries still mainly used tachi. They even used it as the predominant sidearm of the 16th century but the katana and the katate-uchi started to gain a bit more popularity.
      People like to make up the narrative that the katana was somehow better than the tachi or the katana phased out the tachi on the battlefield or the katana was made very early on in samurai history when none of that is true. It only ever phased out the tachi in the 17th century when peace was brought to Japan.
      The fact is: Tachi were better battlefield weapons and katana were better civilian weapons. The tachi was not only for horseback.
      Edit: the only real advantage the katana has over the tachi is that katana are a bit lighter and are quicker to draw from the waist which is why they were more popular in a civilian setting.
