Mayco: Thx for these videos on your products, I will buy your stuff because of these. 1) The vids are well done- clear VO, no irritating/intrusive background music 2) they are INFORMATIVE, you show me how to apply to get what kind of effect! Thx so much!

Thank you for this video! This is one of the glazes I will be reviewing for your company... I always prefer to educate myself before trying to educate others! 😄🙏🏼💖

I have thinned this out with water and each time I had a few layers it dries and flakes off my work before firing. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem. It was not thin at all when I bought it. Can it be thinned with water? It clumped (not the nice cracking I see here) on the piece then flaked off before firing. I was afraid it would fly off and attach to other pieces during firing so I washed it off.

If you have thinned it with water, but it still cracks off during the application, we recommend thinning it with more water/applying less coats. Pay attention to how the glaze performs as it dries. Sometime 1 coat is enough and other times you will need all 3. If the glaze had large cracks and is rolling up at the edges, do not apply more glaze or you will run the risk of it popping off entirely. It is a delicate dance that you have to pay close attention to. Luckily these dry pretty quickly!

Really want this to work. First attempt, glaze dried and cracked like the video said, then half of it lifted off and fell off, the rest is barely clinging on. just opened a sealed jar, stirred a ton and applied like the video. what did i do wrong? should i knock off the rest and start over?

Sounds like you may have applied it too thick. For more in depth information on usage, you can reach out to our technical team at technical@maycocolors.com.

Is this safe on food items?

The Magma and Mudcrack glazes are not recommended for dinnerware due to the surface characteristics.
