I bought a CZ1000 new in 1985, and people never believed the sounds from it were from a Casio! The sounds on the CZ5000 here are lovely, would love to be able to get one. My CZ1000 still works. Great demo, thanks for sharing.
Incredibly nice minimal sequencing music and last one is just super magical digital floating! The first track reminds me my lovely Sega Mega Drive 2 game console =)
1980's Casio synths were a lot of fun! I loved their ergonomic controls. Sometimes I wonder why I ever sold any of these synths for the next big thing.
Most people don't realize how Casio was actually on the cutting edge of syntesis back in the 80's. After the CZ series came out, the AZ, FZ, and VZ boards came along. The AZ is a midi remote keyboard, with all the editing buttons you could want, and complete capability to call ALL the sounds of a VZ-8, or VZ-10M board. I still use my FZ and VZ on stage. There's just nothing that can compete with all those wonderful vintage sounds.
All these little tracks sound fantastic, I can't believe how I managed to overlook the CZ series for so long when it can sound so incredible. I don't really have the space for any more synths but based on the quaility of sounds produced in this demo and the criminally low prices they sell for I can't not get one. Thanks!
Hi @SciFiFunk , THank you! I think CZ-5000 is different from the other CZ series. CZ-5000 is an advantage of 8-track sequencer. It was the start of the today's workstations. This is very simple but very useful.
WheelRock your music is so fantastic dude, makes me dream, think in a lot of nice things, is a pleasure listening this, love your work, I hope you continue making this kind of music, a big hug and thanks again for this moments
I just love this. I bought all three of your releases last weekend, and found the EP as well. You've convinced me that I really do need a 5000 after all. My 1000 suddenly sounds inadequate!
MinimalWave1982, same basic engine, but everything is doubled... DCO, keyboard split, polyphony, modulation, etc. It can all make a difference. Plus the onboard sequencer is a nice touch. I've since purchased a 5000 and a CZ-1, kept my 101 for portability, sold the 1000. But you can't go wrong with any of them.
Thanks! @felipesancho :) Yes, Percussion sounds are CZ-5000 too. but the track Overdub. Perc-track was non effect, and other track was with delay effect.
@xa1a Thank you for your comment! and congratulations! Have you already recieved the CZ? This synth's sound is so cheep, but very very deep and interesting. I hope you'll enjoying create new sounds from this machine ;)
Yes it is, this is built -in sequencer. The sequencer is limited but very useful still now. The CZ-5000 is so heavy. but CZ-101 or CZ-230s can be more carriable.
Hi @SPFXsynthesisers , I'm sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for your comment. That track was made with CZ-5000's sound only. but the rhythm track is overdub on PC. So cowbell sounds are panning and delayed. It was pretty hard to make this cowbell sound....
WELL DONE! CZ has no onboard effects (besides of chorus) and that's what make this synth sound cosmic. Ring modulation is also helpful for create bright, distorted or cosmic sounds. Nice patches! Very inspiring...
@ActivityRadio Look for a CZ-1 or a CZ-5000. Those are the two coolest ones. The CZ-101 is also cool because of its size, but not as complex as the CZ-1 or CZ-5000.
@TheHelixSpirit Thanks for your comment :) Yamaha AN1X, I think a very good Analog-modeling synthesizer. Also CZ, old musical instruments from it, take care to use!
is this using the built-in internal sequencer? what do you think of the internal sequencer? is it useful for recording? also, how heavy is this synth? is it easy to carry around?
Hi @acidjack303 thanks for your comment. Sorry, I don't know how to up my patches, Does anyone know something how simple way to upload the sound-data...?
@snolan1990 Thank you very much for your comment. I didn't have keyboards except this one, so i had to devised to create sounds and tracks as a result. Perhaps I think it was a good environment to learn CZ or PD or Synthesizers.
Are you using effects on this? Im hearing delay. Anyways, awesome sound and programming! I love synths with internal sequencers thats easy to program and i just think that this one could be some thing for me. Is the sequencer easy/fun to work with would you say?
CZ ain't the easiest synth to program, but once you got the hang on it, and you clearly got the hang on it my friend, you can compose some seriously nice sounds.
Absolutly stunning programming and Music! It it possible to play multitrack songs like those with a cz 3000 (cz 5000 without sequencer) via the midi Simultaneously?
I'm digging your style. The CZ is also great for atmospheric, huge pads and strings. It may not seem like it's built for those types of sounds at first, but play around for awhile and you will see. You can make Prophet-sounding evilness with this machine. Just ripping atmospheric stuff. I love the CZ synths.
Hi there, firstly thank you for uploading these vids, the sequences are extremely well put together. I am thinking of buying one after seeing these but just wondering. How much tweaking is needed on the presets to attain the sounds you get please? Specifically the higher octave, sci-fi sounding stuff, reminiscent of the sh-101? thanks in advance! :)
WheelRock1 - Can you PLEASE tell me (since I can't seem to find any information online), does the CZ-5000 have velocity sensitivity & or after-touch? If not, do you know if it can receive velocity sensitive/after-touch MIDI signals? The Roland Alpha Juno-1 is not velocity sensitive. (the Alpha Juno 2 is) But the Juno 1 can receive velocity sensitive signals, if you trigger it with another keyboard. PLEASE reply soon, because I am trying to decide whether to buy a CZ-1 or CZ-5000 on Ebay. Thx.
@WheelRock1 hi, i didn´t found a easy solution till now i have paper sheets to store my sounds. but any how i have over 2000 sysex patches i can share them to you. but they are not so nice than yours....
very very nice!! bought a CZ5000 myself recently and I am very impressed... I did not expect an instrument with such distinctive sonic character for that money... we put it up with some major analogue classics in the studio yesterday and it absolutely holds its own and cuts through in its own way. may I ask how useful you find the sequencer? has this track actually been recorded with it? I am just learning to work with it, "real time" mode being more natural to me than "manual"... ;)
so how did you make those breathy pads with a synth that cant make breathy pads? im no novice my friend, and my videos show what can be achieved with each synth that is demonstrated, none of them are for sale on ebay, or any where else for that matter. the cz series of synths cannot make warm pads or some of your other sounds no matter how longer you spend programming them.
The soundtrack to this movie is from the casio? Really? I had one of these when they first came out, but never got it sounding anywhere as good as this. It just did crummy brass portastudio sounds.
very nice vid ! the factory sounds were bad , but with this machine you could do every sound possible to imagine , even complete drumset sounds ; played this monster until the "square knobs " failed in their function ! would love to have it back , maybe as a software ?
Would've gotten one of these over it's cheaper, younger brother the casio ht 700, but I wasn't able to find any listings for one of these anywhere, and the prices would've probably given me a heart attack. It's a shame casio hasn't revisited the CZ series since the late 90s (also great songs!)
I am using MIDIOX.com download to store sounds - I cannot say about the 5000 - but I am storing 1000/101/230s patches and have data on how to by pass the handshaking at templarseries dot atspace dot com slash cz dot aitch tee em el
The best demo of CZ synths that I've seen - so good!
Oh cool! This demo! I saw this video 10 years ago and immediately bought a CZ-1. I'm glad this is still up here.
I bought a CZ1000 new in 1985, and people never believed the sounds from it were from a Casio! The sounds on the CZ5000 here are lovely, would love to be able to get one. My CZ1000 still works. Great demo, thanks for sharing.

Sorry, these sounds are only from a CZ-5000 with a bit of external effects.

Hi @SciFiFunk , THank you!
I think CZ-5000 is different from the other CZ series.
CZ-5000 is an advantage of 8-track sequencer.
It was the start of the today's workstations.
This is very simple but very useful.
Beautiful demo. I have a CZ1 and love it to bits, so easy to program and hugely versatile.
Love the CZ's. I want one. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent , had one and sold it years ago , wonderful synth
fantastic sounds and songs. thank you
again, listening this awesome music, track 2 & 3 are from another galaxy, japan, yeah
Oh, Thank you marty,
I'm very very honored.
WheelRock your music is so fantastic dude, makes me dream, think in a lot of nice things, is a pleasure listening this, love your work, I hope you continue making this kind of music, a big hug and thanks again for this moments

+Robert Saint John Why the Cz 1000 has the same sound engine ?!

Robert Saint John Ok, now i get your point. Yes you can do more with the bigger ones
love the demos , the cz range are very underated .......
Young Marco brought me here :) congratulations, you clearly have a gift for melodies.
This is awesome! I just bought one, and Im getting it on Friday! Cant wait! Your tracks were an inspiration to grab this thing! :) Thanks!
Simply amazing
Hi @benskia
Thank you, there sounds are all CZ's with a bit of effects.
amazing demo... wonderful track ideas too.. off to your bandcamp for some listening ;)
I had one once. Loud brash sounds. I have no idea how you get such sophisticated sounds from the same machine!
Great patches on those trax by the way - superb job.
You have an album of this demo, now?? And have records available?? This warms my little synth heart! Thanks so much for doing this!!
This is a great demo. I just purchased a CZ-3000. Looking forward to using it.
Thank you, these tracks made with CZ-5000 built in sequencer on "manual" mode.
because of my poor keyboard play...
ありがとうございます。
You're a wizard with this thing!
Dope sounds
That is just fantastic!!!
2:58 is just so fucking beautiful
Satoshi & mokoto - crepuscule leger is the full track
Cool sounds! you share soul of CZ tnx
Thanks! @felipesancho :)
Yes, Percussion sounds are CZ-5000 too. but the track Overdub.
Perc-track was non effect, and other track was with delay effect.
1:00 + - I can almost head BOC using this synth
And the vibe loop at 1:20+ is Awesome!
@xa1a Thank you for your comment!
and congratulations! Have you already recieved the CZ?
This synth's sound is so cheep, but very very deep and interesting.
I hope you'll enjoying create new sounds from this machine ;)
I expect to see Axel Foley with such music!
really cool sounds awesome sequences i love it
Yes it is, this is built -in sequencer.
The sequencer is limited but very useful still now.
The CZ-5000 is so heavy. but CZ-101 or CZ-230s can be more carriable.
Absolutely superb.
Still got one, but in this vid the sounds are pumped up with external effects.
Hi @TR0jAX Thank you!
These tracks are recorded on BOSS Micro BR, and move to PC.
great job the CZ 5000 was myu first synthesizer in 1985
Beautiful... . I am thinking about getting a cz edition. Which one would you pick?
Hi @ux256 ,me too!
and CZ-5000 is still active.
love it!
Hi @SPFXsynthesisers , I'm sorry for the late reply.
Thank you so much for your comment.
That track was made with CZ-5000's sound only.
but the rhythm track is overdub on PC. So cowbell sounds are panning and delayed.

Could it be this keyboard whose sound is heard in Sebastien Leger's "Majuro"?
@ActivityRadio Look for a CZ-1 or a CZ-5000. Those are the two coolest ones. The CZ-101 is also cool because of its size, but not as complex as the CZ-1 or CZ-5000.
Fuckin incredible, Crépuscule Léger is beast
@TheHelixSpirit Thanks for your comment :)
Yamaha AN1X, I think a very good Analog-modeling synthesizer.
Also CZ, old musical instruments from it, take care to use!
Thank you @GEORGEMARAUDER.
I am sorry for my delayed response to your comment.
In a way, that I want to transcend the Prophet5 in this synth.
This is excellent! I’m convinced I want one now. Is there a bar limit on the sequencer or number of steps limit?
is this using the built-in internal sequencer? what do you think of the internal sequencer? is it useful for recording? also, how heavy is this synth? is it easy to carry around?
Nice and clever programming...good going.
Thank you very much.
Hi @acidjack303 thanks for your comment.

Conclusive proof that God exists . . . Stupendous human talent.
I had this keyboard and got very little of beauty from it.
You clearly have talent.
Thank you, I'm glad you like my tracks!
CZ ain't the easiest synth to program, but once you got the hang on it, and you clearly got the hang on it my friend, you can compose some seriously nice sounds.
WheelRock have you tried virtual cz?
Absolutly stunning programming and Music!
It it possible to play multitrack songs like those with a cz 3000 (cz 5000 without sequencer) via the midi Simultaneously?
@fexfreppl Hi, thanks for your comment.
This synth is so deep, and unique sounds.
Because it, CZ would called "Cosmo Synthesizer"
hi my friend! great sounds, seqs and video, was very enjoyable, a big hug!!!
Hi @SPFXsynthesisers ,
I'm sorry for my late reply and thanks for your comment.
I will post the track of full-length asap.
First demo made me remember Mass Effect soundtrack.
Sounds so nice.
lovely, congrats
wow..nice sounds ...is there a way to get your own patches ?
nice sounds
I'm digging your style. The CZ is also great for atmospheric, huge pads and strings. It may not seem like it's built for those types of sounds at first, but play around for awhile and you will see. You can make Prophet-sounding evilness with this machine. Just ripping atmospheric stuff. I love the CZ synths.
the 101 can make the same sounds right? I want to make some percussion like that wow! Kinda 808ish
I'm wondering if you could download the individual sequence tracks as separate DAW files, I'm guessing not.
Hi there, firstly thank you for uploading these vids, the sequences are extremely well put together. I am thinking of buying one after seeing these but just wondering. This- and a Roland D-50 or D-110- are probably the best synths for ambient music.
@WheelRock1 hi,
i didn´t found a easy solution till now i have paper sheets to store my sounds.
but any how i have over 2000 sysex patches i can share them to you.
but they are not so nice than yours....
Thank you so much!
i have CZ 1000...how far am i from this?? the drums are cz too?!!
this in one of the best demos of cz synths!
Thank you so much. I want CZ-1 but it's hard to find of good condition.
Were these sounds made using only the synth or are you using any outboard effects?
very very nice!! bought a CZ5000 myself recently and I am very impressed... I did not expect an instrument with such distinctive sonic character for that money... we put it up with some major analogue classics in the studio yesterday and it absolutely holds its own and cuts through in its own way.

It's magic!!!

Hi @maccagrabme
I don't use any PC editor, just CZ-5000 only.
Because of i could not be intuitive operation...
@ActivityRadio Yes!! CZ's sounds is so unique ,so deep.
Enjoy create new sounds and please let me hear the sound!!!
@luvnplster Hi, I agree with your choice. I have a CZ-5000, but i also want a CZ-1 because of it has velocity-aftertouch.
And above all cool design.
The soundtrack to this movie is from the casio?
Really?
I had one of these when they first came out, but never got it sounding anywhere as good as this. It just did crummy brass portastudio sounds.
Oh @jaunmanuek, thanks for a lot!
@mmrva Wow! Seriously? I had never thought about distributing my tracks.
ASAP, I'll upload my full-length tracks on TH-cam.
very nice vid ! the factory sounds were bad , but with this machine you could do every sound possible to imagine , even complete drumset sounds ; played this monster until the "square knobs " failed in their function ! would love to have it back , maybe as a software ?
I think the sounds are all compatible across the CZ range
@Enufo どうもありがとう "Domo Arigato" Enufo!
"Domo Arigato" means "Thank you very much" in japanese.
I also have been excited about your new videos!!
機種の制約と特徴を理解し使いこなせばいい音も面白い音もできるのだ。

@KieronEdwards I also have original manual and 2 memory cartridges.
These helped me quite around first time.
What do you use to edit the sounds? I cannot find a free pc editor. Thanks
Do you have a Soundcloud page, or any place where I could listen to your track in full length.
Your stuff sounds awesome...!
Please, let me know where I can buy your tracks. Love them!
How do i record and playback...i just got one and can't figure it out, thanks.
I am using MIDIOX.com download to store sounds - I cannot say about the 5000 - but I am storing 1000/101/230s patches and have data on how to by pass the handshaking at templarseries dot atspace dot com slash cz dot aitch tee em el
I am assuming this is using external effects-if so what kinds of effects?
