@@richarddevaottien7724Nothing crude about them. The Classic 350 in particular is incredibly refined. I rode a 2022 Triumph Bonneville back to back with this and the Classic 350 was higher quality and more refined in every way. Of course I preferred the 1200cc engine on the triumph, but if you don't need or dont want blistering speed, the Classic 350 is a better bike for 1/3 the price.
We call it the "Royal Zenfield". Don't bin them off based on preconceived ideas - try one. You might be surprised. And will very quickly appreciate their remarkable value and the accessibility they provide.
So many people seem to look down on these bikes saying they're underpowered, and reading between the lines, the interviewer seems to think that too. It's such a shame, these bikes are all most of us really need. He even agreed there's no point really having a super-mega 500hp sports bike of doom that you only use 2% of. My Classic 350 gives me a million smiles per gallon, every time I get on it. The sound of the little thumping engine is so heart-warming, it's so comfortable and easy to ride, great around town, perfect for Sunday bimbles, cheap to insure, cheap on fuel, well made, reliable, it looks beautiful, and most importantly of all, it makes me FEEL so happy when I'm on it. So, so many people want that feeling, when they're riding - you know the one? The feeling of freedom and escape, of blue skies and countryside and wind in your face. This bike delivers that feeling in spades. There are no visible computers, no riding modes, no TFT screens, and no sat-nav. Just a nice little engine, simple switchgear, and comfort. With this I'm able to just enjoy riding. The thought of flying along at 100mph with an engine doing 9,000rpm rocketing me into a corner before I've had chance to look around, on something that looks like it's escaped from a manga comic, does absolutely nothing for me.
Excellent example of what motorcycling enables. As a sadly departed friend of mine used to say “ It’s not what you ride, it’s how you ride it laddie!” In this example - two up and enjoying the simples pleasures this machine enables. 👏👏👏👏👍🏍👍🤜
Good discussion. I'm 52 and bought the RE Meteor 350 as my first bike. A lot of the same reasons, except the disability. I wasn't interested in racing, it was a good starter cost, and less costly to replace if my beginner skills fail and less dangerous. So far its been a blast.
Unexpected and beautiful story. Have been looking to get one in the same colour for a few months. Just trying to come up with a convincing story to explain to my wife why i need 3 bikes.
RE has unfortunately discontinued the lovely Halcyon Grey colour some time back. Maybe your country still gets it but it is no longer available in India. It was definitely one of the best colours on the Classic 350.
Good for you Dan… sports bikes have their place of course but all biking is about the people you’re with.. friendships and memories aren’t all made at 200mph.. 👍🏻
I have both, bought an Himalayan like three years ago and a Marsh Grey Signals 350 Last year. Even Tough I LOVE my himy, the 350 is just sweet, refined, charming....pure pleasure to ride. Go for it! Only problem you may have...you will feel guilty for loving it over your Himalayan....😅😅

Similar story to myself. I purchased an Interceptor last year because I wanted a classic for those chilled days & it honestly blew me away with how it makes me feel. Enjoyed your story around the purchase, good luck to you both.
I have one of these and a BMW R18. By far the biggest head-turner is the RE, I always receive compliments and thumbs up. 3,000miles in and no problems so far.
There’s a good amount of 20 somethings buying these here in Australia. I can see the appeal totally. It’s raw and characterful. Going fast isn’t everything that’s for sure. If it stirs emotions that’s the bike for you!
I'm 27 years old, same as your editor, I own a RE Classoc 350 in black. I just enjoy the style of the bike. I've always preferred the retro looking 50s, 60s, and 70's style, so this was a great choice for me. It's my first bike, and I adore it. Honestly, I couldn't have picked a better machine.
Mate, you’ve made your best pick. How else can you enjoy the most all of those moments if not like this? PS: when you dropped that “ever so slightly” again you made me giggle 😅
There's a strange, unspoken, self-inflicted restriction we put ourselves into. Sports bike guys feel that anything else isn't appropriate. Everyone does this. Scooters suffer from this. Perfectly good motorcycles, do everything a person may need it for yet, people want to be seen on a huge GS, commuting to work. Harley riders, same. If we could separate that part of our brain that cares what people think, what would we ride?
I put over 3000 miles since June on my 23 Halcyon green and I love it. I don't go anywhere fast and I also don't go anywhere near trouble.Cheers from chicago
When it comes to commenting on the RE 350, the bottom line is that these bikes are really Useful which is more than can be said about some modern motorcycles in the real world.
I loved the 80's bikes as well. They weren't fast but they were fast enough. CB400T was my favourite along with a CX500. The Enfields are bringing back those basic feeling.
I've had a zx12r for nearly 20 years which I'll never part with, and I'm seriously thinking about one of these as a second bike for exploring back roads. Very tempting.
Fantastic to hear how the Royal Enfield has transformed Dan's life. I wondered if there were any mods to release a bit more power and thus broaden its use-case?
The “reborn” 350 is one of the most enjoyable bikes I’ve ever ridden. I briefly owned one and plan to buy another. Hopefully the new Bullet makes it to the States.
RE is making Classic 650 based on the parallel twin they recently used in the Super Meteor 650. It has around 47 bHP. So the performance needs will be taken care of. Also, they recently launched the updated Himalayan 450, and it's great.
Wonderful that you’ve included this one, congrats to the two of them on the purchase, kinda makes me wish I still had my beautiful British racing green one, it was the “gateway drug” back in to bikes after getting knocked on the head rather badly,…other than the SoCal freeways where 80mph can be the norm or perhaps overtaking whist going up Mt. Palomar it was absolutely the ticket.
It's all about the smiles per mile.... and this one gives you plenty of that. For the ones who have been riding fast bikes.... testride one, you'll be hooked 😉
I just made 10k on bitcoin and managed to convince the wife that this bike makes sense. Its slow so unlikely to kill myself, it has torque for the peak district hills, looks class and I can wear an open face helmet in the summer months. It's pretty much a done deal. Not had a bike for 20 years and I never rode fast. I like the freedom.
Enjoyed this. I have a few bikes but the one i used to take my girlfriend out most often in the back off is my RE intercepter which I also bought this year and really love it. Maybe thats an option for for an upgrade on the 350 as its do about 100mph and is much cheaper than the triumph retros.
if you love this styling and need more power, don't worry. Royal enfield is testing a classic 650 with the same engine as in the interceptor. It could be launched next year.
I’m lucky enough to have one of these and a 2019 Triumph Speedtwin. Both are amazing bikes but for completely different reasons! Enjoy this one, but definitely try a ST as well. 👍
Interestingly, my 350 Classic also shows false neutrals sometimes, and occasionally is in neutral without showing. The handbook says to pull in the clutch before pressing the starter switch, but I don't believe most owners do. Apart from that, it's a belting little bike.
@@mindspinn311 It engages gear when the revs are high, but is sketchy under low power or cruising. Running in has lots of low revs so gear changing was frustrating.
When he said he'd done 1200 miles i had to have a laugh. I did 2150 miles on a John O' Groats Lands end run on mine, straight after the 300 mile service. Over 2.5 years it covered 12,900 miles, was totally reliable, had been to spain and france several times. Brilliant non motorway tourer. Loved it.
Why not consider a scooter? A honest question. We had a Suzuki Burgman 650 a very roomy and competent scooter. My wife found it impossible to get on my Vulcan 900 with its saddle bags and backrests. But with the Burgman she would step on and slide back to the pillion seat easily. Plus there was no apparent loss of power riding two up. As you are in GB you have more options for various brands and sizes of scooters too. Living in a place where anything but a heavy weight Harley is a social misstep does prejudice scooter ownership but when I beat every over weight middle aged beanie helmeted Harley rider from a light there was comfort in that. 😎 On the other hand as someone doing my own servicing and repairs a bike like this RE is to be treasured.
Fair question! I'm a big fan of scoots and suggested just that, but the boss at home wanted that 'proper' bike look and I can't fault her tastes. Thanks for watching. Dan, MCN.
I'm 59. I just bought one. Yes, it's easy to throw a leg over. Had a BMW 310 adventure bike before this. Fast enough for town riding. Touring, on Highway I try to avoid, but I can do 70mph. Amazingly reliable. Will probably have this bike as long as I live.
I've got a 350 meteor and I never trust my neutral light. It lies and is sometimes in gear but lit, so I start it with the clutch in and gently let the clutch out with a hand on the front brake lever. It hasn't done it in the last 500 miles, but for the previous 4,500miles it did it....
Saw this very bike and color but the rims and hubs were black with stainless spikes and that really looked sharp in my eyes. He added a cam, removed the decibel killer with a hole saw and had an air cleaner cover mod and it really woke the little 350 up from stock. These are showing up leftover for $3999.00 near me in Ct and that’s hard to beat
CANNOT WAIT for Royal Enfield to release the Classic 650! There have been spy shots of a virtually showroom ready version on test in India, for nearly 12 months! It MIGHT be the new Bullet, but local press have called it the Classic! It looks good and will allow those higher speeds required in Europe and the US! I think what makes this style of bike so popular, is the nostalgia for a bike that LOOKS LIKE A BIKE! Simplicity and functionality at the heart of it's design AND useability. No fancy tech, no expensive cosmetics, and a price point that keeps biking ACCESSIBLE! It's EXACTLY what the industry has been needing for 40 years! For those who cannot understand the lack of power and statistical prowess, you need to understand there was once a different reason for owning and LOVING a bike, that didn't involve going fast, or being part of "fashion parade"! This style of bike helps us get reacquainted with those feelings, and if sales and press coverage are anything to go by, then those FEELINGS are now becoming VERY IMPORTANT to bikers again?
My girlfriend doesn't quite have the excuse of cerebral palsy but she struggles to get on taller bikes. The Classic 350 is definitely the right sort of size/layout but just doesn't have the grunt I'd want for pulling two above average size adults. I think a Bonneville would be ideal but that's not currently within my budget!
Have done more than 11 hours of riding on b4 version of 350 and i ddnt felt tired ..... if u want bike for longer rides ... and dont mind going slow .... this bike will cruise all day long ... in most comfortable way... i still use it for daily commute ...
Thanks for making this video! I need a bike to go from the foothills down into town/stores/beaches, and thought about marrying a RE Classic to a Cozy sidecar. Moving to the Algarve in Portugal... it's really all we need with trains/buses a plenty. Cheers!
A lovely story and maybe a Street twin or Norton could make a good upgrade if more oopmh is required in a few years. Nice low seat and easy torque engines
Bro that's a great reason to get a bike 🏍 . Really an inspiring guy . Respect. I am a 23 year old guy looking to get a bike highly appreciate your informative content.
We can see its not a whizzbang thankfully and it will do the national speed limit in comfort and with a bit of class,it can do an incredible 100 mpg if you can resist the temptation of not revving the nuts of it. And if you want more power why not try the 650 twins like the Meteor with its low seat height and its half the price of triumph, surely there is someone at MCN can put you in the picture, lol
Well done with your lovely RE! Good to see you’re getting some miles on it. Don’t know if it’s the TH-cam algorithm but I’m seeing a spate of thefts of these by the yoot- wether it’s because they have realised they are easier to nick than the more powerful and expensive ones? Neevesy should wear a headmaster outfit the grilling he’s giving you 😂
So the funny thing about that false neutral incident happened to me as well. I own a Himalayan Scram 411 in India, cost me around 2.6L (about 2800 Euro). The side stand doesn't stop this from happening because you can start the bike in neutral in side stand and as far as the bike thinks, it's in neutral and stand position doesn't matter, so it just cranks it up, lurching it forward. After the first thousand odd KM or so, it is not happening anymore. But ya, I have heard multiple people on various forums/videos mentioning this and it's not isolated to one model.
Seriously considering one of these as a leisurely country steed. Even to travel through europe using back roads. But, some bikers will need a second, more powerful bike in the stable. This 350 is just so, endearingly, classic.
Great story. I sound like a record but RE really have done so much for the UK bike market. When I bought a bike again after selling my GSXR back in 2015 I knew I was going retro. I was set on a Triumph but ended up getting a Conti 650 from Triumph Solent as I could get a practically new bike on low end Triumph money. DO NOT regret a thing. Spent loads of money on mods and only put about 800 miles on her but I love nothing more than popping in the garage with a cup of tea and tinkering or just staring it 😂. These bikes are absolutely worth the money.
=RE= (RE) my METEOR 350. The issue. VIBRATIONS. Wry neck and neuropathy at cruising speeds 100-120 km. Therefore I want to sell it and buy TWIN Kawasaki Vulcan. Greetings from sunny tropical THAILAND. Johnny BikeSanooK! You Tuber born in Suomi-Finland Channel CARSANOOK
My side covers are metal - it's the boxes behind them that are plastic 😎 Does the side stand switch stop the starter turning over, or does it just not let the engine start (I'm not going to try it on mine). Also specs say somewhere around 195kg, not "well over 200"!
Yes, the side covers are steel. He's not the first to wrongly state they are plastic. This baffles me every time I hear it said, because you only have to look at them to see they are metal
Well this is weird b/c I thought he was around my age until he said 26. I'm 39 and look younger than him. I really like this bike. Brother don't take offense, but do take better care of yourself. You only get one life and the stress you've endured is evident. All the best to you and your spouse. She's a good woman not trying to slow you down. Be well, be happy, and safe.
Enjoyed this video and really appreciated what was said. However… for a fraction of the cost, you could pick up something like CB 500 which would do the same thing as the RE but better? It would be great to see a segment which involves purchases privately and how they get on with older bikes, which I would assume the majority of people would be looking at anyway.
It doesn't have to be a racer, i agree. 80-85 Mph is necessary for a quick overtake. Come on, it's a 350cc. This bike can deal with that easily. That would not do any harm for it's caracter to slow down and enjoy the scenery. But just the fact that you should keep in mind that a highway/motorway could be a serious problem makes it a no go. And that is not good at all Royal Enfield because it looks awesome.
Never heard a better reason to buy a specific bike. Well done Sir.

Have Meteor 350, service at 3,000 miles, cost very low. Engine is punchy and super smooth.
Awesome video! She is a keeper Dan, well done! Best!
This warmed the cockles of my icy heart! I also want a go now 😂
CANNOT WAIT for Royal Enfield to release the Classic 650!
RE will soon launch a classic 650..🥳🥳🥳
You might consider the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 or the Super Meteor, also a 650. Apparently the Classic 650 is on it's way soon too.
Fascinating conversation indeed. I was glued and what a great bike to own.
Dan is the man 🙏 Great chemistry between you guys. I bet you have a laugh at work 👏
Have done more than 11 hours of riding on b4 version of 350 and i ddnt felt tired ..... if u want bike for longer rides ... and dont mind going slow .... this bike will cruise all day long ... in most comfortable way... i still use it for daily commute ...
Dan that is fantastic all the best to you and your other half enjoy! ❤️👍👍
That bloke is a legend! 🫡
Most romantic reason for a bike purchase ever, cheers
There is a bike for all occasions and situations, great post
Such a nice story, what a fantastic bike for you both
We can see its not a whizzbang thankfully and it will do the national speed limit in comfort and with a bit of class,it can do an incredible 100 mpg if you can resist the temptation of not revving the nuts of it.
Neevesy should wear a headmaster outfit the grilling he’s giving you 😂
Its a beautiful looking bike with so much character.
what an incredible story!! stay awesome
Thanks for watching. We've been out today in fact. Great fun, even in the cold. Dan, MCN.
If it had a kickstart this is what I'd get, but I'd rather have a used classic 500
Brilliant reason to buy a bike. Good luck to both of you!
This 350 is just so, endearingly, classic.
royal enfieds also sell soft paniers for the classic 350 you can try that too
Great story.
You Tuber born in Suomi-Finland
Channel CARSANOOK
Well done young man
My side covers are metal - it's the boxes behind them that are plastic 😎 Does the side stand switch stop the starter turning over, or does it just not let the engine start (I'm not going to try it on mine). Also specs say somewhere around 195kg, not "well over 200"!
Yes, the side covers are steel. He's not the first to wrongly state they are plastic. This baffles me every time I hear it said, because you only have to look at them to see they are metal
Excellent video and content as always.
Good idea showning what that have bought them self's.😊
It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
I mean that's what bikes are for aren't they? They give you freedom. Lovely watch this. Cheers!
A great choice. Less is more!😊
Good on you, it’s a cool bike
Well this is weird b/c I thought he was around my age until he said 26. I'm 39 and look younger than him. I really like this bike. Brother don't take offense, but do take better care of yourself. You only get one life and the stress you've endured is evident. All the best to you and your spouse. She's a good woman not trying to slow you down. Be well, be happy, and safe.
A classic 650 will be out soon..😍😍😍
Love this series! Also love the reason for buying!
Well hopefully RE should launch their Classic 650 next year. As if now only the 650 Scrambler looks to be in the pipeline.
Very Honorable...Bravo Sir, You'll Earn Good Karma for sure 💞👍
Very kind, thanks for taking the time to watch. Dan, MCN.
That is awesome, such a heartwarming story!! ❤️
Great review and very well said!
Great little bike and a lovely story. 🤙
