Thank you for this, I am researching Barrass family, from which I am descended via the Cloughs. They were all miners. My 5th Great Grandfather was killed in the Haswell colliery disaster.
This is great! I found it helpful how you named all the different places, as I'm planning a trip to the area soon to research my family history - we've traced it back to at least 5 generations of Durham coal miners - this gives me a good starting place, thankyou for sharing! :D
@@DurhamTelly I'd never been up around Crook apart from going to Tanfield and Beamish but looking at these Durham mining sites shows hundreds of pits. I'll have to do some exploring if we ever get over COVID lockdown.
There's still plenty of old colliery buildings that have survived up until now, they are generally on industrial estates now, that were created on the former colliery sites, they all should be recorded for prosperity..!
My video, I do what I want, the day that you upload a video then you can complain. It was necessary for me, to learn the editing skills that I wanted. Life is hard, even when someone shares something with you, for free?!

Amazing stuff my Grandad worked at Blackhall Colliery
My grandmother lived in Nutters Building with her adoptive parents from 1895 to 1911 lovely to see the actual place.
Only pleased to have helped.
scrapmen must have madea fortune scrapping all those collieries and equipment!
A few families, saw the opportunity and got very rich at the time, you are correct. They did the same at the end of steam railway's too!
