I remember the first time I paddled Big Bear Lake, and saw swarms of carp! More info about kayaking Big Bear Lake. www.paddlingcalifornia.com/Big_Bear_Lake.html
Due to the drought, the hatcher planted over a million trout the previous year. That was a good year fishing. My niece who is ten managed to catch a couple that size from the yard.
yes there stocked for a reason every place would be fished out cause people strip the rivers and lakes bare then you can throw away kayak and hike to the back country at least theres no frezz there you can only kill what you can eat i hope

I'm knew to needlefish lures. How were you fishing it? Bait? Swivel? Split shot? What size? Thanks!
I was slow trolling it. I attached it to the main line with a swivel and a small split shot 18" above the lure. It was the green 2" size.
+MadQB Thanks and nice fish!!! That one would be hanging above my fireplace!

Curious. What was water temps? Ive falling in water in springtime and was gasping for air. Do u take that into consideration?
i gotta get my canoe out there soon and land a few.
what bait did u use
It was caught on a slow trolled needlefish lure.
Tip: when catch a huge fish like that put two of those small stringers through its gill or get a thicker stringer.😉

wow that's nice fish
Should of let it go.
Not trying to be a dick here, but the correct phrase is "should have" or "should've". Hopefully no one else will be a dick about it either.
msoto951 why? It's a hatchery release fish. Brood fish are kept until they get old, then released to be caught.
