This is great, I really love it when people respect wildlife and give them space instead of getting too close to them without thinking! We need more tourists like you :) And its awesome that the pup approached you and you got the chance to play with it
Stay there and scare off the pup's mom. Make him an orphan. WONDERFUL way to treat wildlife. She got as close as she could & did everything BUT touch him. That was NOT refraining from interfering- that was trying to keep from being arrested. There are distance requirements in most places for a reason. She showed a total lack of respect for that animal's needs. Only her wants and interests. These people are garbage and make me sick.
The seal is provbably waiting for it’s mom to come back. And you guys are too close to the seal which prevents the mom from getting back to the baby seal. Should just leave him alone.
They're totally sea dogs, when they're young they're just like puppies n wanna play with everyone ,when they grow up 90% of them are super skeptical about anyone they don't know which is everyone. If you hand rear one and keep him he would essentially be a dog I say we domesticate seals

Clearly you know nothing of the seal species, the mother a lot of times will leave her pup in crevices or hiding it in places out of view to protect them from predators & wandering off if there isn't a colony around. However whats happening in this video should NEVER happen, you should never get that close to wild animals ESPECIALLY newborns or pups, even the pup in the video is trying its best to intimidate you to back off even though it doesn't come off like that to large humans. You're not only endangering their health, safety and natural movements but also risking the chance of them being abandoned by their mother. 8 out of 10 times the mother is nearby feeding to keep up with the demand of milk from the pup, they like to feed a lot so the mother needs to eat twice as much to keep up with producing. However doing what you're doing in your video puts this pup in the worst kind of danger, if the mother comes back from feeding and pops her head up from the water and sees 2 LARGE PREDATORS ( you & who's filming cause she can't tell you apart from any other predator) cornering her pup she usually will just abandon it believing the pup is done for. After that happens you will have sealed its fate "no pun intended" but pups that young can't hunt themselves yet. Just don't mess with or try to play with wild animals in their habitats, I can understand trying to "save" an animal but ONLY if it's life is in immediate danger.😎🤙
